What are your biggest concerns and fears regarding the near/far future of the game?
Kaw replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
Three words. "Call of Duty" *sigh* -
Look at his sig, nuff said.

Been lone wolf since the mod, but only since SA have I become paranoid. The bunnies man....the bunnies...there all around whispering...planting ideas, and fears...the bunnies have taken over my thoughts.

100man servers... my biggest fear has been realised.
Kaw replied to Cenobyte's topic in General Discussion
I posted this on another post, talking about future patches. "100 people seems like a realistic number considering the cities, and scale of the map. But all I can think of is chaos. Cherno and Electro will turn into full scale warzones, roaming bands of freshie brawlers, and everyone scrambling to get loot that isn't there. 0_0" from the OP's post it seems to be coming true. -
Logging back in, correct hive, no server error = new player

Most would consider me a bandit, because I kill/rob players when I want supplies, or if I feel even remotely at risk. However I consider myself a lesser "Bandit" then allot of others. -I don't sit near or on the beach killing freshies. nor do I kill lightly kited players -I don't run/camp/snipe around cities pretending I'm playing CoD -I dont kill for the fun of it. To me its just logical, a dark logic but still. Why risk entering a city/town/military compound when I can wait by common traffic paths an "gather" my gear that way...Its a dog eat dog world. but for every player I kill 3-5 pass by unharmed, an unaware of my presence.

true.

Very interesting enjoyed the first one, watching the others now. However I would like to point out wearing nothing makes u seem like a freshie brawler, and could be reason why some of them KOS

I have been a lone wolf since the mod. Trusting another survivor may be hard, but try trusting another bandit. As the saying goes “There is no honour among thieves."

A place for your fallen characters to be remembered, what characters have you mourned? Feel free to contribute =) ----------------------------------------- Jan,22nd - Feb,11th(5:16pm) Location: Vyshnoye Cause of Death: Multiply gunshots(AKA karma) After going to sleep(logging) last night under a tree I woke up today only to find that my legs were broken. Not even close to letting this get me down I crawled to Vyshoye which was close by. I was in no position to do much in my condition so I hid under a tree 200m out with the sights of my SKS on the well, and waited. Thirty-odd minuteslater a couple of guys came along to take a drink. I took aim, but my hands were shaking so much from the pain the sight was all over the place. Hesitant, but desperate I fired two shots. The first hit its mark the second missed sending the other guy behind a house. Normally I would wait, hell a hr if needed for the survivor to make a move and make a mistake. But every minute that went by meant that the corpse by the well was closer to disappearing, an taking with him the morphine I was now convicing myself he had. After only about 8mins I made my way down to the town. I did my best to scout the surrounding houses, but time was not on my side and I was to focused on the body. When I reached his him I was given just enough time to check his inventory, no morphine...The first shot knocked me unconscious the next nine were just to make a point. The note I keep on me says it all. "I guess karma has finally caught up to me" It could also be equally said that the complete disregard and abandonment of my code caused by my silly desperation also lead to my death. Something I hope I remember the next time around.

With any luck they will add a black hunting backpack, or at least give the option to spraypaint it. =)
-
If I wasn't a bandit, and saw you first I would hide, you look bad***, just need to change out the backpack, it clashes. =p but to answer your Q, your look makes me think of a cop...a dirty cop. I would not trust you.

I wear a wolf mask to help people identify me as a bandit, so they don't make the mistake of choosing not to kill me should they get that chance, and generally speaking I think most ppl wearing a mask(although cool looking) can't be trusted.

Removed most of my gear after 33. except my revolver some ammo, banages, pants, and started over. 5days of "gathering" later, here we are again. SKS is alright, but I miss my mosin will more then likely trade out when one wanders into my sights.

In 70+ hrs...Ummm I try not to think of it. Afraid one day my conscious might catch up with me.

My current character, hes been alive for some time. with most of the items with him having been "collected" here an there. Still missing some key items such as a scope, can-opener, an some better(greener) pants. Don't really have a wanting for military clothing as I enjoy the more simple look. even though I am wearing a ballistic helmet lol, I'll be getting rid of that when I find myself a beanie hat which i feel looks better with my mask.

[THIS IS JUST FOR FEEDBACK] please no PvP bs, thanks also yes I know I suck, I played one sitting 3-4days ago in the past two weeks. Not the only one I think. I was on a US sever LA something, hardcore/elite something along that. The sever admin did ask if ppl were in the sever, as he was going to restart, but apparently enough were. few minutes later he said he wouldn't restart it. I also personally saw 3other players in the game as far as how many ppl got past the laoding screen is beyond me

While performance fps wise seems better, I have noticed some desyncing. some cases really bad. Two survivors in pretty decent gear really got the pointy of the stick during one of them. >.> Zeds seem more realistic...hard to explain, but they just seem more "zed/infected-like" had one walking around a barn I was in, not aggro'ed on my but just looking about, creepy. only played for about 1hr-ish, so thats all I can say ftm,. Edit: just to add one more thing, When I spawned, had all the gear I had one me when I last played(3-4days ago) cept for the CZ in my pack. but location and gear fine.

I think that the bear traps are are a great idea. It adds to the realism bandits arn't just going to be setting up ambushes, sniping, or stalking, but lying down traps for the careless. And as for the ppl concerned about always having to watch out for them, you should. The moment you let your guard down is the moment this mod will knock you on your ass. Be it with the aggro of zombies or that bandit who happened to be stalking, sniping, or simply lying in wait. You always need to be alert. Bear traps will just be another thing to look out for, to always be weary about. As for spawns. considering chernarus is mostly countryside I would think hunters before the outbreak would use them for hunting, or protecting there livestock. As such while you wouldn't find them in the cities they would be fairly common in barns and such. well thats my two cents. byes.

To be honest I can't remember my first straight up murder, I remember the the first two self defense kills that "turned"(back when we had skins) into a bandit, but for some reason can't remember my first unprovoked murder. So I guess I'll just tell ya of my last, and while it wasn't my first murder he was my first murder of someone who was unarmed. -- I was in Kamyshovo having just spawned I was looking for some loot, but mostly a weapon to my disappointment I only found a xbow with 2bolts. Anyways I was just getting ready to head to the woods and towards the deer stand when I saw a survivor running around town with a pack zeds on his tail. I watched for a while as he run around and finally started up the road inland in my direction. Now for whatever reason just as he was getting to the small barn all the zeds bugged and went poof. and Well with the threat gone I decide to say "hello", I came out from the woods an stopped about 25ft in front of him, we looked at each other for a good minute neither of us saying anything. I think he was probably thinking I was going to kill him, though thats not really my scene(killing unarmed, not murdering =p), but it got me thinking devious thoughts, scare him that would be fun. so I aim the xbow at him figuring it would miss considering its horried sights, well i was wrong. bolt struck him right in the face. My first kill or a unarmed survivor.... the karma I couldn't retrieve my bolt ;_; (sorry for ta horried grammer I'm tired an don't care, ty)

agreed!!! On one occasion a friend and I found our selfs without water, suffering from dehydration we stumbled upon a pond an remarked at how unrealistic it was to have a the water RIGHT THERE but being able to do absolutely nothing about it.
