That wasn't vanilla DayZ, some other mods don't even try to resemble the "classic DayZ experience" so you can expect crap like that.

This is wrong, the CPU is limiting the performance in this build. I have a similar setup (Athlon II X2 240 OC @ 3,2Ghz, AMD Radeon HD5750 @750Mhz/1200Mhz, 8GB RAM) and changed the GFX card once to my old Radeon HD4650. The result: I had nearly the same fps. As long as he doesn't play on 60/60 servers, he should be fine. Only Cherno and Elektro can get a bit problematic - all this only in DayZ though. Standard Arma2 missions, including massive MP missions like Domination and Wasteland always run without problems on my PC with 40-60fps. @OP: These are the settings I'm using, you may try them on your system (the draw distance is quite high since I played some jet missions, 1000 is enough for DayZ; Shadow is on very high since low mainly uses the CPU, and disabling them makes it even more ugly)

DayZ is supposed to be an open-world sandbox game/mod, there should be no rules. If you want to, you can play on these servers, I'm just stating my own opinion, which equals to the one of many others though. Also, in the beginning, just start playing, don't look up any tutorials and stuff like that, you will never have the same feeling of your first 50h in DayZ again.

1.) You need Arma 2: COmbined Operations, which includes Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead. You can also get some DLC's which mainly provide better textures for the DayZ mod. (and some cool SP missions!) 2.) DayZ commander, it includes all popular and some lesser known mods and is easy to use. 3.) Yes, there are some, but they won't give you the proper DayZ feeling. I'd recommend you to start playing on official hive or vanilla private hive servers (use the filters of DayZcommander to find the servers you want.)

You might wait until AMD releases a new Catalyst driver version, ince you have a (awesome) brand-new Radeon.

First try to just click on install in your game library, it should detect the game files and will just install registry and other things. Additionally you can also try verifying your game cache.

Start both Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead once and close them as soon as you are in the main menu. Then try again to join and play on a server and report here.

Too bad it's a US server, or I might play there regularly. Nevertheless, good luck with your server, excellent choice in settings :)

1. Loose zeds in buildings with 2 entrances, on hills and in forests. Or just don't aggro them with moving totally out of their ways. 2. Add it to your toolbelt and put it back into your hands, it should have ammo then. Additionally, as far as I saw it the ammo gets reset to 100000 frequently if you have it in your hands since the last update. 3. The engine makes this impossible for the mod, maybe it gets added to the standalone, but I can't guarantee it. 4. Learn to use the Arma inventory, always move weapons out of the backpack into your hands when switching with another weapon and/or look into your backpack if it has enough space (10 slots) in order to store a weapon in there.

It's about the program Cheat Engine. In order to prevent cheap methods using it to execute scripts it got added to the BE filters as Game Hack. and *Sophocles

Launch TS first and then start Arma2. This fixes for the me the problem of the mic not working ingame, maybe it helps you too :)

Just because it is a movie quote doesn't mean that you can write it down everywhere. Also he didn't wrote it down as a quote. Another valid point. I often thought about this, because sometimesme or my friends also loose connection. This would be the most realistic solution, but maybe it is once again impossible to do because of engine limitations?!

It's no reason to get offensive, English is probably not his mother tongue. About the problem: it probably is possible to do this, but you could use this for your own advantage, eg. you fly your heli over the base of other players with cars, tents, the players themselves etc. and you just exit the .exe in your taskmanager or pull out your LAN cable. In the end you have your heli back and the others lost basically everything. So what should you do now? Let friends fly the heli, get a better PC, reinstall Windows...

He wants to say that if your game crashes and you are the current pilot of the chopper that it gets ported to the last safe place it was landed on. Also he is butthurt because he lost choppers by this problem.

Check "Replace the original files" in the Dayzcommander > Steam settings. Thats a fault in the recent beta patches, it thinks you have the ACR DLC, even though you haven't got it. Just ignore it.
