to the man i try shot in the face inside shop

I prefer Sniper hill south of berezino. It works well because you can see most of the area and if they leave stay in cover while following them. Also any buildings with accessable roofs works well for covering a town. Fun one to do is go into any large town and find a good sniper position with cover and just observe. Wait for bandit activity and smite them like they were ants and you are the boot. Like i said it isn't the easy route you are taking it is by far the most difficult playstyle in the game. But remember you are not alone if you ever get your headset/mic working check out CQF we do the same thing.

Keep fighting the good fight sir, you are not alone. Since MOD i have been doing what i like to call Guardian Angel runs. Pick a new spawn and follow them from a distance and protect them from enemies. Most of the times they never know i am there but occasionally i have to take out a bandit/KOS, and while it usually scares them its for the best.

    The Most Dangerous Game

yeah mine was strange started as "screw it pew pew pew" then "shoot if they have a weapon drawn" then join clan with a ROE that requires contact and only shoot if threatened, or if they fire at you or another player.... basically its a difficulty scale were before i shot everything now i play paladin and protect freshies. I don't hate or dislike KOS'ers you guys are my prey and without you i would become like you because of boredom. So OP thank you for acting like this just be aware that one day when you KOS someone you might get shot down a second later by someone like me. This is a game about player generated content, we all have a place in it. Whether you are a KOS, Bandit, Bambi, Heroe, or Medic. Some play styles will get you killed more often then others and are much more difficult but those are the most rewarding in my mindset.

    Dynamic Loot Spawning

basically if you pickup loot something else spawns in a 1km range. In certain places like deer stands it means the second you pick something up, something else spawns. Vybor military base is also excellent for this you pick up something in the jail and something spawns elsewhere get 4 guys one working each barracks and the jail and you got infinite spawns.

DayZ Zombies, an attempt to diagnose the zed condition

yes i know of that and yes they can become more lethal.. it is very rare for them to change transfer mechanism, and as i pointed out NATURALLY it is rare but with human intervention it is very common. I have a relative that actually works with the US government on creating defenses against bioweapons. The first step in this is by making the nastiest virus you can in a lab and then building defenses against it. Some of the stories she tells when you get a few rounds in her give me chills to this day.

DayZ Zombies, an attempt to diagnose the zed condition

While it could go airborne that requires a mutation, and non man made viruses when they mutate usually lose some of their lethality. But i am neither a Microbiologist nor a Viroligist so i wouldn't be the most knowledgable here.

DayZ Zombies, an attempt to diagnose the zed condition

in SA yes there are none... in Mod there were alot. Green mountain was basically a mass grave, thats were the creepy Green Mountain stories come from.

DayZ Zombies, an attempt to diagnose the zed condition

I really really really don't like the zombie = Rabies thing. Spreading infections based on biting for rabies, and body fluids with Ebola is a terrible infection vector (reason we don't have rabies/ebola outbreaks all over). There are so many more real and and terrifying options when you consider a Airborne fungal infection, or a parasitic one that is Waterborne. Both could lead to the same results but could actually plausibly spread. Also they are already common in nature, the other option is Retroviruses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retrovirus). With proper mutation you have the possibility of an airborne spreadable virus that could cause similar effects. There was a Dean Coontz book called Seize the Night that works on this theory. While it didn't have zombies it did have people heavily effected by a Retrovirus becoming Easily agitated, hostile, irrational, as well as animals effected.

Well, that was annoying and stupid...

oopsie i guess typing that out on my phone wasn't the smartest idea. Thank you for the spell check.

DayZ Zombies, an attempt to diagnose the zed condition

Isn't he a virologist? Well based on the lack of any none infected and the how players don't become infected from contact... 1.) we can rule out rabies, it's main method of infection is via bite and the zombies don't bite they hit 2.) It has to be airborne. Reason we can think this is simple, the rate of infection which could wipe out this area leans towards airborne/waterborne but since it is a rural community waterborne is out of the question (most people rely on wells not a centralized water source). 3.) Because its airborne and survivors come into contact with zombies without becoming infected. We are carriers, this means the virus infects us but stays dormant. This allows the virus to have a higher rate of spread (people without obvious infection but carrying the dormant virus can move around infecting others without notice) 4.) Using the Vanilla mod for reference the incubation period is at least a week to several weeks. Reason for this line of logic is simple the body piles that can be found at Green Mountain, North of Elektro and in other area's. This shows us that there was enough of the population that were either not Zeds or in early stages of infection still capable of doing something with the bodies. If the incubation period was shorter the spread would have been insanly fast 5.) All of the above leads to two conclusions It is man made: It's infection rate is nuts possibly in the 90% range, closest naturally created is the Bubonic Plague which is only 40%. Also the incubation period, carrier dormancy, and several other factors means it was designed to spread and infect the highest possible number of people. This combination does not happen naturally. It was not released on purpose: Chenarus is a terrible target it is hemmed in by wilderness (lowering rate of spread as well as isolated) Also there were containment efforts on the military's part, while these were unsuccessful for a test environment it makes no sense to attemp containment efforts. In conclusion it is virus/fungal, it's infection vector is airborne, it lies dormant in 5-10% of the population, the incubation period is several weeks, No known virus is close (or antibodies would have a chance of forming at some point and fighting it).

    Lore and backstory

lot of fan theories just search for stuff about "green mountain" "radio transmissions". Basically because of the lack official backstory the players from mod days have filled it in. Its some pretty awesome stuff.

Well, that was annoying and stupid...

Uh no your incessant need to loot got you killed.... a few pieces of advice Know when you are ahead and back off (you were at NWAF that place always is crawling with people second you offed the first one you should have gathered loot and pulled back because your shots told everyone there exactly where you are)Patients is a virtue (after you drop someone hold back for a few minutes and observe your surroundings, most likely you could have spotted and removed the threats around you if you had done this)Know your Gear (why oh why did you dick around with an M4 when everything that it does the AKM does better)

    Cars in Dayz Standalone

yeah the vehicles on most servers in the Mod usually ended up being gobbled up and horded away by large clans. They are the only ones that can afford to have guards around the area almost 24/7 is why. Also they can scour the area's almost immediatly after a restart. My mod clan had in their base camp a helo, 2 urals,, 2 trucks, 3 cars, a bus, 4 atv's and 2 dirt bikes. With that we would actively hunt down and take/destroy any vehicle we didn't own to keep the advantage also.

any point in having a sidearm?

Most of these cases though are people that A.) do not know how to correctly hold a sidearm, or B.) people that forget their training under fire. I can get 90%+ of my rounds center target at 25-50 yards in under 20 seconds with my Beretta 9mm. Now i know this means nothing in a kill or be killed situation but it clearly shows that the platform isn't the problem its the shooter.
  16. Fear The Amish

Do you miss the old North East Airfield?

I agree with this... I think informally making the coast newbie zone ( devoid of military spawns) and make the center/west were they are located is a great thing. Forces people to move around more. While i don't think this will stop fresh spawn killing it will make the old mod hotspots (Novy, NW, etc.) back to the fun places they were.

2 things NEEDED to be fixed in next update.

The crash thing can be caused by players if they know how to do it right... so for loot whoring its pretty easy to do a little trick and crash the server so it restarts with fresh loot.

    Cars in Dayz Standalone

That and the Noob Bus's (drive around the coast with a bus and pick up new spawns.... then take them to a secluded place and make them fight to the death). Also big clans got in the habit of running bait vehicles, one big bus on the main road and 3-4 Dirt bikes/ATV's off road around it. But by far best thing with vehicles was convoy supply runs. 4-5 vehicles rolling into berezino leave 2-3 guys to gaurd them then rest of the people just empty the town and load the vehicles up and move on to the next until you had hit every major town.

    ethics of first kill

It depends entirely... Personally i play as a Hero/Protector with CQF we have an extensive ROE. Basically attempt contact, give warnings, do not fire unless they are considered a threat (raising weapon without responding, Hostile actions, taking fire from them, etc). So i have died many times but also have saved and helped many people. To me the fun of this game is gearing up and then helping people. I have given away thousands of cans of beans/food, Tons of Medical supplies, and other basic supplies. The most rewarding thing is when you help someone out under fire by removing the threat, and getting that Thank you. It makes up for those times were you get shot for just being friendly. But remember the KOS crowd, Banditry, and all the other "negative" interactions make this whole playstyle valid, without them this game would be much less interesting and i hope they don't change... Just realize people like me will be watching and i rarely miss my first shot.
  20. Been playing shooters since wolfenstien 3d and yet to play a perma death FPS. So if you know of any let me know and ill have something to compare too. Also played Haven and Hearth and Salem and felt the same way about those (perma death games).
  21. Actually got a large group that plays Hardcore and i do also.... Most of our group OPS are on Regular because thats were the true newplayers are, and saving them is our objective. Also killing me does nothing i can usually get re-geared in 15-20 minutes and regearing is the funnest part of the game for me.
  22. I feel every death of a player i KNOW has either low gear or a lesser player. Now on bandit sweeps i have no pity or sympathy. But those bambis and noobs that assume everyone is KOS'r every time i have to put one down i feel like i failed. Why i purposefully don't wear masks or helmts (just a black berret and sun glasses) and always attempt to communicate first. Spend most of my time on east coast giving out food/water and advice to those i run into. So those deaths always feel to me like i failed to communicate correctly or i made some random threatening move to them. SO if you see {CQF} FTA on the server you are on and run into a guy with a military gear except a black berret and raybans... If i hail you im just trying to help you out. But played much longer then you and will probably will end you if you try anything. Also im rarely alone so just be aware shooting me leads to about 6 other players around you now consider you hostile and will drop you.
  23. Fear The Amish

What sort of player are you on DayZ? *QUIZ*

not suprisingly a Hero by 80%
  24. Fear The Amish

    Some people deserve to die

Or were a hero group and were camping balota to particularly combat bandit groups. (me and some friends do this very often in balota/Berezino/NEA
