  1. Having DC be 100% usable will help alleviate the problems, since it humanizes other players and doesn't play like some banal deathmatch. I am a bandit skin with low humanity, but I like to help players and cooperate when I can, I usually carry a blood pack for this very reason, because I think player interaction is FUN. There can and will be (due to inevitable necessity) mechanics to promote cooperation and not angsty 15 year old death match. I think something like a "civilization" meter for the server would be something good. Server-wide bonuses, like power-plants becoming repairable to light streets and better boat spawns etc, if there is a low amount of player murder. But high amounts of player murder will prevent fortifications from spawning and power plant use and vehicle spawns and other cool rebuilding of civilization perks.
  2. Yeah fog is great, even if it's foggy way more than it could be in real life, like 40% of the time. But not always, some days should be clear with far view distance
  3. I think 1500 is a happy medium, but it's not like people realistically snipe from any longer range than that. And if someone is successful at a 2 kilometer sniper kill, good for them I say, because that is amazing
  4. The actual gameplay advantages vs disadvantages with view distance are pretty miniscule. And if someone doesn't have the rig for it, that's fine. It's just a game. If they have a miniscule, situational disadvantage, it's no big deal, and I am sure they can deal with it. Nobody snipes from 5 kilometers away. Just about every single computer can handle 1500m view distance, which is all you need for sniping purposes. It would just lower all the other settings and maybe have to overclock. The fact that this is even a consideration is a testament to how absurd things can get when people nitpick. And if you think this tiny corner case of a sniper outranging the lowest possible view distance when they could otherwise be plainly seen by the victim is what makes this game inaccessible... lol, there's nothing we can do for you, you just simply aren't thinking.

    View distance capped?d

Sure, when you have an objective, an exceptionally rare (DayZ-wise) sniper rifle, and two-team based gameplay, it can happen. But when the only places you can rely on camping for more than one kill a day are two built up cities heavily based on cover, and there are no vantage points at all around those that you could reliably use. Even if there is, there's dozens of rows of buildings in the way. What's the point of having non-CZ snipers with better scopes and zeroing if they arent allowed to be used for what they are for
  6. I strongly agree. And snipers actually get kills from distances already attainable, 600m+ sniper kills are astronomically few. Any further than about 200m just doesn't happen because the only reliable places to camp are cities with high rises that block outside sniping.

    View distance capped?d

Getting a 1km sniper kill in Arma is ludicrously difficult against other players' date=' especially when you have no idea where to look, except for build up cities with constant cover and view obstruction. If someone actually managed such a feat, they completely deserve such a kill. I can't even think of a place where it would be viable to camp from 1km and actually expect a player to kill, so it shouldn't even be part of the discussion Irrelevant, since players can just set their view distance to what their computers can handle.

    why the 1000m cap though?

    Solution to bandit bothers

Of course being a bandit should be allowed. But it should also bear some small consequences for ruining people's gameplay

Logoff mechanics in modern MMOs, and DayZ

We should use the term "logoffski" I don't see how the player's character remaining in the world for 5-10 seconds after logout will realistically hurt anybody innocent. If they have an emergency and die in 5 seconds after, I am sure their emergency is more important than their video game, so that's not a problem.

    Solution to bandit bothers

This is a unique perspective on it that uses already non-immersive abstract mechanics to balance it

    [Legion] Sorting this all out

The ability to benefit from the central DayZ database to save your character while having your own arbitrary server will become a problem, I believe. People can just farm loot on their servers without a fear in the world, and then have free access to their characters to use on any other server.

Woops, move this to the suggestion forum I guess

    [1.7.2] DayZ loot cheat sheet

    This is awesome, thanks

    [Legion] Sorting this all out

The other day I asked Legion member MuffPounder98 when the pimping would stop' date=' and he simply replied "it just won't." When I asked him to clarify this, he simply stated that the pimping would most likely continue for an indefinite period of time. Dallas servers are roleplaying servers where God is a 16 year old. Looking for vent or ts group for US

I am just waiting until I come across cool players organically, I think this is the best way to do it in my opinion I think this guy is literally 11, I would avoid the likes of him.

    [Legion] Kicking for killing

Legion is pretty garbage like that. Not cool guys.

    1.5.6 patch notes

    Are they available anywhere?
  19. or just a temporary technical limitation? because for such a gigantic map, 50 players is really nothing. Chernarus is awesome and a perfect size for this game, but for the exploration, coop and survival aspect, it seems quite small, at a population density of about 0.2 per square km. Player interaction, which is if course by far the most fun part of the mod, is quite limited, and can only occur organically in chernogorsk or elektro, and there it's usually by gunshot due to people being spooked by the sight of a player. Everywhere else is either friends or people meeting up through chat. I think 100 players would be a healthy medium. Is anything like this planned?

Draw distance only 500m after 1.5.3?

Are people seriously trying to defend an absurdly low capped draw distance? L-o-L This game thrives on realism, which includes the amazing draw distance. If you want the technical aspects of the game to be artificially restrained to prevent pvp, this quite simply is not the game for you.

    Arma 3

Definitely excited for the fully explorable buildings, and even larger map size. But 50 players would be waaay too low for such a map

IF this was an actual game...

I'd prefer Buy2Play instead of pay to win cash shop bull. Everyone pays the same thing and everyone gets equal footing.

    Simple solution to disconnect exploit

Have avatars remain in game 5 seconds after disconnect. This would solve the problem of both avoiding zombies and players. MMOs like WoW did this, except they were 20 seconds. Perhaps lift this at someone's own tent, where it could be instant. The chance of actually dying to a wandering bandit that wasnt there before is miniscule, and if you know there are hostile players around, it adds to the sense of urgency to be in a safe place.

    The Disconnect Penalty

Player's characters should remain in the game world 5 seconds after disconnects. This solves the problems of not only pvp, but pve, when you can just DC to avoid a horde coming at you
  25. super pretendo

    We need a purpose.

We need: roaming zombie hordes, not static spawning borefests. Zombies need to actually seek out and threaten players, players should always be in danger of zombies unless they are deep in the wilderness. And even then, but rarely.
