Most of the guides i've read just said to run into a town and find as much stuff as you can. Being sneaky is unnecessary when you have nothing.

I really wanted to shoot this one guy. He ended up disappearing after a few seconds.

I didn't have to do anything special.. It pops up everytime my character has just dies. After you lick "OK" to join the server it pops up
