I've noticed that while in the sit animation your character begins to do a smoking animation. In the military they tell you not to smoke while in combat, Especially at night, as the enemy (specifically snipers) can see your cig cherry and can easily pick you off. Maybe they could add a faint glow that shows up in your hand when you go into this animation. Simple Cool Helps with realism

You could look into gettin an Origins server. You can build your own bases and vehicles. (Actually have to find wood, concrete, etc)

It was probably a sniper from a bandit clan that was collecting specific weapons for a group or clan. Arma 2 features a realistic sound and ballistic system. Believe it or not theres a good chance that you "Just keeled over dead" without any sound because the sniper, or yourself was located in a spot where the sound from the weapon didnt resonate. The loss of your character aside.... if that were the case... Thats one hell of a stealthy kill. On another note, I would say that a percentage of players who "fall over dead" like that probably encounter the same scenario as you possibly did. Rather than it being a hacking incident.

Its not a perk. In Arma 2 some characters have bullet proof vests. The hero "perk" is a certain "heavier" class in the PMC group that has a bullet proof vest. Whilst as the survivors that you spawn as are "light" PMC units and do not have a bullet proof vest. In arma 2, All units that wear bullet proof vests actually simulate real ballistic reaction to light and medium weight kevlar. So its not a perk, Its just part of the game. The hero skin is simply a heavier equipped Arma 2 PMC unit. Where as the bandit skin doesnt have any perks because they dont have vests. You can try it out in the Arma 2 editor. Spawn any military unit that has a vest on and shoot him a few times with a few different guns. You will notice that sometimes when you shoot the vest area, A white dust sort of substence sprays out instead of blood. This means the vest was effective at stopping the bullet. A good way to tell if your vest works in game when someone shoots you is to pay attention to your screen. If it works you will notice the screen shakes, But your character wont go "UGH" and the screen wont flash. It will shake tho. I hope this was helpful.

I found a heli the other day that was completely beaten up, All I did was install the engine and the entire heli went to green! It was kinda cool actually. Granted I was a little mad that I had spent the last 2 hours looking for parts to fix it.

Are we talking about dayz servers or Arma 2 servers? If its a dayz server, It might just be taking a while. If it was an arma server, You might be missing some mods. I know a lot of regular arma 2 servers have ACE mod now. And sometimes it hinders a persons ability to join a server.

You DO know that when you post your server on these forums 9 times out of 10 theres going to be a hacker that sees it and says "LOLHURR a newb server! Once your server gets about 20 or so people, Other admins are gonna start seeing their players go to your server and they will most likely hack your server or send someone to hack it out of spite.... theres a mod for arma 2 that simulates a zombie infection. Its not as in depth as dayz. But npc's and players become infected and turn into a zombie when they are bit. There are running zombies and the slow stumbling kind. The mod also features an antidote and the ability to change the infection time. So... you can make it to where you turn in a few seconds after you get bit, Or you can make it to where it takes a few hours+. And best of all... YOU CAN USE IT WITH THE EDITOR :D. I think they just recently added multiplayer to it tho. And in my opinion DayZ is still way superior to this mod. But before dayz, THIS was the mod to have. :P

About the whitelisted servers thing.... It shouldnt be the player/ consumers job to make a fun gaming experience for a gaming community that has thousands and thousands of players. The dayz staff (no offence guys, you do a great job) should really show a little more care for their own game and the people who play it. without us players, there wouldnt even be a dayz standalone. If you just focus on making the game and look at the public servers and go "meh." Players are gonna look at your game and go "meh."

Yeah but the problem is that there are private hives with shitty admins. Like he said, Admins are just tolorating it now. Probably because they can be bribed with nice gear from the hackers. We need professional, Corporate, Admins who dont sit around with their thumbs up their ass. Not only is hacking becoming a major issue, Abusive kiddie admins are on the rise too. Were talking about kids who (as admins) will deliberately GLOBALLY ban someone because they got killed and decided to throw a big ass temper tantrum. We need BATTLEYE Professional ADMINS. And publicly fixed servers. P.S. this is probably one of the most thought out and well typed complaints ive seen on hackers/hacking. I agree 100%, Its getting really really old. I refuse to buy the game too if they dont fix this problem.
