  1. It would be awesome if players could find a key machine (stationary or parhaps crafted item?) and had the option to make keys (items). And I'm not talking about just making copies of keys but actually create their own patterns. One of those player-made keys might unlock a big gun safe, or it might not. Player-made combination locks would also be nice because players could lock their stuff in a room/safe. The locks wouldn't be completely theft-proof since players could use boltcutters (tool) to cut them open. Although boltcutters are relatively easy to find, the inventory space they will take up (a weapon slot) would make it somewhat unfavourable to carry with you, that way not EVERY player will have the ability to cut locks unless they are willing to sacrifice some firepower for it. Maybe then, a group of players will have a few gunmans and a locksmith (equipped with all their key-making tools but not so well armed) to open up doors, cabinets, safes, gates... etc. This would definitely make grouping with people less boring, it might even encourage it. Does this sound familiar? It's called a class system. Now before you pull out your Flamer Mk. 2000 and start spraying it in my general direction, think about how [the opportunity of playing as] a class would effect a sandbox type of game. It wouldn't, at all, it would still be a sandbox game, you can play however you want. Playing as a class would give you some extra goodies faster but playing solo or "run and gun [noobs in the face]" would yield the same kind of LOOT. For those of you who hate class games, your DayZ experience will be exactly the same like it is now; gather supplies, get weapons, run from zombie, eat beans, shoot-a-noob... In other words, you don't actually get to choose a class when you create a character, your class is determined by your gear loadout which you can change at any time. I've already seen a certain type of players that have assumed a class role, they travel across Chernarus and assist players with food/water/blood transfusions... Can you guess who they are?
  2. Ahh... ok but I though Arma II was a simulator. A subsonic 5.56 would render your AR system inoperable hehe.
  3. What does a subsonic round have anything to do with the ability to shoot a zombie in the head?

    Drunks with Guns Recruiting!

I'll play with you guys. I don't play DayZ as often as I used to but that's because it gets kinda boring to play alone. I have vent.

    Stuck at loading?

Wait it out and it'll most likely load you in. I haven't had this happen to me lately but I've had to wait at loading screen for 10 minutes before it would let me play.

Server Hopping and Ghost Flanking solution

Well really the way I think of it is that during the 10 minutes that you are locked out of a server after logout, the player that you are trying to ghost will be long gone from the location you last saw him at. The only people that would still be in the same spot after 10 minutes would be the noob camping snipers and those guys deserve to die anyways.

Server Hopping and Ghost Flanking solution

So if someone that hasn't acquired a map and compass yet logs out, when they log back in they have to spend the next 30 minutes to figure out where they are? My idea of dealing with such exploiters is to implement a timer upon logout, 20 seconds until your character disappears and after you have disconnected you cannot reconnect to that server for 5 or 10 minutes. There's no reason for somebody to disconnect for 30 seconds other than to exploit something. I know when I take a smoke break I'm gone for at least 5 minutes.

Eating raw meat, sort of like Minecraft

Eating a properly handled/cooked blue steak is different from eating a raw piece of meat that's been rolling around in your backpack for two days.

Banned global for unknown reason !

Have you been taking part in scripting shenanigans? Battleye will know so contact them.
  10. You might be out of bounds my friend. Did you walk in one direction for too long?

    Where should I head next?

Find a tent and set up camp somewhere then go to Stary and NW Airfield so you can get shot at. Get that blood pumping!
  12. Have you guys noticed that? They used to have something in the "news" section almost every day. For the past 5 days nothing has happened? Where are all the interviews? Especially with the mod being just 50,000 shy of one million players! Is Rocket too busy working on something BIG? Or is the community losing interest...?

    Question about breaking your leg

Some vegetation (primarily bushes and rocks) will inflict damage if hit just right. I was on a dirtbike and ran over a shrub no taller than a foot, the front wheel got destroyed.

    Why no more news?

I actually enjoyed reading whats going on in DayZ. That, and it also shows progression. It's kinda like reading about a very successful company all over the news and then it all goes quiet. That's usually not a good sign. Maybe hes working overtime on the standalone game! Oh man would that be awesome.

You probably made the admin upset.

    Server Questions/Suggestions

If DayZ ever got to a fully playable and well polished game I would gladly pay for it. A pay-to-play subscription would probably be overkill even for 300 slots. The servers that host MMORPG's are MASSIVE and cost a lot of money to keep operational. And to be honest, I really wouldn't want to play on DayZ's 225 square Km map with 300 players. Can you imagine what Stary/Cherno/NW Airfield would be like? Sheesh! Maybe if there was a lot more content in the game it wouldn't be so bad since players would actually have something else to do other than kill one another out of boredom. But a fleet of 300 slot servers would not require a pay-to-play subscription. If they did, someone would be getting fucked (the players).

    Extremely Long Loading Times

That usually works for me and a few others I have told. This engine manifests differently on other machines so I'm not saying my way is the right way.

    Server Questions/Suggestions

They are all hosted professionally and Bohemia is very strict on server rules. You can rent a server for about $75/Mo.

    Extremely Long Loading Times

Try to join a server with less people on it. The less people playing, the shorter your loading time.
  20. I explained this to him on the first page.

    Hey guys!

Make sure you have 10 available spots in your bag or the rifle will disappear when you try to put it in there.
  22. I can't help you with that. Here in VA every human being is sporting a gun on their hip. I'm sure there are some gun ranges where you can go practice, most places even have firearms for rent. A gun club is a different story tho, they are very hard to get into (most of them being "invitation only") and you have to pay a generous amount of money to get in.
  23. All these weapons ARE the reason I haven't gone completely bananas yet hehe. To me, nothing is more relaxing than killing some tin cans, potatoes, and zombie... paper targets. And of course going to my gun club when there's an NRA competition taking place.
  24. It's called a cold bore shot. I do precision shooting (mainly in .270cal) and I use multiple rifles for that very reason. I see your point though. But, if you think snipers are unrealistic and should therefore be removed, then so should most other guns. For example: Why don't the MP5, M9, and Glock17 take the same ammunition? They are all 9x19 Parabellum. Why do the SD versions of these guns require special SD (subsonic) ammo? 9x19 velocity is very close to the speed of sound but not quite so there's no point is having to get special ammo for a suppressed 9mm since the rounds are subsonic to begin with. Then there's the 5.56x45nato. I don't even think you can find any subsonic ammo for that. To keep a 55/65 grain projectile from breaking the sound barrier you would have to load it very light, lighter than a .22LR, and we all know how devastating a .22 is! I've loaded my own subsonics for my AR system and 90% of them didn't even cycle the action. The problem with most video games and snipers is that there are a lot of stupid assholes who can't kill people any other way, without dying, so they need to be 300 yards away to avoid injury. And also if all guns were as realistic as the real deal, most people wouldn't even want to play the game. Do you know how hard it is to sprint 50 yards then immediately come to a stop to take aim and accurately engage a target 100 yards away? In war, the average distance that a firefight will take place at is 50 yards... and most of the shots fired never hit their intended target (although a lot of it cover fire) And last but not least. I have a pretty big arsenal of modern (polymer) firearms. I don't have a .50 cal metallic cartridge rifle yet (i do have a .50cal black powder tho). So during a zombie apocalypse you would find a lot of the guns you see in DayZ if you came to my house. All of them are civilian versions of course therefore lacking selective fire control groups (auto) but that's another point I will make; if you want to shoot a gun accurately, you don't full freaking auto! That's just a waste of ammo!

Rocket deserves to get rich from this mod.

And the minute that money gets mixed into the equation and the first $1million is made, DayZ will no longer be DayZ.
