It would be awesome if players could find a key machine (stationary or parhaps crafted item?) and had the option to make keys (items). And I'm not talking about just making copies of keys but actually create their own patterns. One of those player-made keys might unlock a big gun safe, or it might not. Player-made combination locks would also be nice because players could lock their stuff in a room/safe. The locks wouldn't be completely theft-proof since players could use boltcutters (tool) to cut them open. Although boltcutters are relatively easy to find, the inventory space they will take up (a weapon slot) would make it somewhat unfavourable to carry with you, that way not EVERY player will have the ability to cut locks unless they are willing to sacrifice some firepower for it. Maybe then, a group of players will have a few gunmans and a locksmith (equipped with all their key-making tools but not so well armed) to open up doors, cabinets, safes, gates... etc. This would definitely make grouping with people less boring, it might even encourage it. Does this sound familiar? It's called a class system. Now before you pull out your Flamer Mk. 2000 and start spraying it in my general direction, think about how [the opportunity of playing as] a class would effect a sandbox type of game. It wouldn't, at all, it would still be a sandbox game, you can play however you want. Playing as a class would give you some extra goodies faster but playing solo or "run and gun [noobs in the face]" would yield the same kind of LOOT. For those of you who hate class games, your DayZ experience will be exactly the same like it is now; gather supplies, get weapons, run from zombie, eat beans, shoot-a-noob... In other words, you don't actually get to choose a class when you create a character, your class is determined by your gear loadout which you can change at any time. I've already seen a certain type of players that have assumed a class role, they travel across Chernarus and assist players with food/water/blood transfusions... Can you guess who they are?

Let's have a vote about M4s

Ahh... ok but I though Arma II was a simulator. A subsonic 5.56 would render your AR system inoperable hehe. -

What does a subsonic round have anything to do with the ability to shoot a zombie in the head? -
I'll play with you guys. I don't play DayZ as often as I used to but that's because it gets kinda boring to play alone. I have vent.

Wait it out and it'll most likely load you in. I haven't had this happen to me lately but I've had to wait at loading screen for 10 minutes before it would let me play.

Server Hopping and Ghost Flanking solution
Cummins replied to John Spectre's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well really the way I think of it is that during the 10 minutes that you are locked out of a server after logout, the player that you are trying to ghost will be long gone from the location you last saw him at. The only people that would still be in the same spot after 10 minutes would be the noob camping snipers and those guys deserve to die anyways. -
Server Hopping and Ghost Flanking solution

So if someone that hasn't acquired a map and compass yet logs out, when they log back in they have to spend the next 30 minutes to figure out where they are? My idea of dealing with such exploiters is to implement a timer upon logout, 20 seconds until your character disappears and after you have disconnected you cannot reconnect to that server for 5 or 10 minutes. There's no reason for somebody to disconnect for 30 seconds other than to exploit something. I know when I take a smoke break I'm gone for at least 5 minutes. -
Eating raw meat, sort of like Minecraft
Cummins replied to gatortribe's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Eating a properly handled/cooked blue steak is different from eating a raw piece of meat that's been rolling around in your backpack for two days. -

Flat land, no Houses, no Vegetation etc. Help!

You might be out of bounds my friend. Did you walk in one direction for too long? -
Find a tent and set up camp somewhere then go to Stary and NW Airfield so you can get shot at. Get that blood pumping!

Question about breaking your leg
Cummins replied to Nymphetamine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some vegetation (primarily bushes and rocks) will inflict damage if hit just right. I was on a dirtbike and ran over a shrub no taller than a foot, the front wheel got destroyed. -
I actually enjoyed reading whats going on in DayZ. That, and it also shows progression. It's kinda like reading about a very successful company all over the news and then it all goes quiet. That's usually not a good sign. Maybe hes working overtime on the standalone game! Oh man would that be awesome.

Have you guys noticed that? They used to have something in the "news" section almost every day. For the past 5 days nothing has happened? Where are all the interviews? Especially with the mod being just 50,000 shy of one million players! Is Rocket too busy working on something BIG? Or is the community losing interest...?

You probably made the admin upset.
