Introduce slumber...and many other ideas
gr33nth1ng replied to Lillo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
- Consequences of not taking care of sleep: high sway while aiming with weapons, all movements slower than normal (including sprint), probability to faint or falling to the ground Hearing things in the bushes to create a parinoid state.. lol sounds funny but I think it'd work really well and it'd be easy to implement. -
In a real life situation like DayZ, 'basic' weapons would be very common.

I think for the same reasons wind energy is superior to fossil fuels, the melee weapon is superior to the firearm. Like what Demon20 said, we will run out of ammo eventually. But, I'd still rather have a 12 gauge... -
not necessarily.. I think he is asking how long to observe a town/structure etc before deciding its time to move in to loot etc.. I get what your saying though.. you should always have your head on a swivel, aware of your surroundings, whereas going by your statement if they never stop scouting, they would never leave their hide..

Haha.. yeah.. I can. Thanks.. Maybe your not... I have made that shot tired, and not badly fed though I was hungry. I know of no-one that has gone through any military training and wasn't tired and hungry the entire time? I qualified expert with the m16, m4, 92FS (Beretta 9mm), and lets not talk about when I qualified with the SAW.Check this out.. http://www.marines.mil/news/publications/Documents/MCO%203574.2K.pdf "3002. Range Requirements 1. A known distance range with the capability to fire 5.56mm ball ammunition from 200, 300, and 500 yards is required. 2. Automated systems such as Location of Misses and Hits (LOMAH) may be used." Find me a Marine who wasn't tired and hungry on the day he qualified with his rifle.. and I will give you beans for dayz. Not every one can make that shot either, and if they don't qualify they get recycled and retrained. There is a saying, "if it aint raining, we aint training". The point of that is that if the conditions are ideal, we do not want to train in them.. we want to train in the most difficult coldest, wettest, tired-est, hungry-est state possible so that when the time comes we are prepared.

Nope never shot a 50.. and you are right it never happened. I never said I made a hit a target at 800m.. Shit I've never tried to shoot at anything past 500 without optics.. I DID say area accuracy was out to 800 meters.. Area Accuracy means your just trying to rain lead onto an AREA and get lucky. Point accuracy is 500 and yup done it with iron sites people make it all the time. Did you even read my post? I agreed... <-- that says agree, look ---> "Now if you mean crouched, as in "duck walking", i.e. knees bent with only your feet touching the ground, then yeah that's pretty ridiculous. I dont think the stance alone would make it impossible, the weight of a .50 is not something to scoff at.. their fucking heavy, like 40 pounds!" So im not even sure what your point was? I mean your probably right about the shoulder injury, i dunno ive never shot one, I had a friend shoot one too but I wasn't there..

Ok, I'll give you that.. Well played ironman.. well played.. Still though there is much more bad guy media than there is good guy media.

Uh.. I can hit a man sized target at 5-600M with few problems, no optics, pretty damn consistently with a rifle. Depending on who you ask the effective point accuracy of an m16 is 5-600M and area accuracy up to 800 meters. I dont think its that tough of a shot in a seated position, even taking a knee I have made that shot. Now if you mean crouched, as in "duck walking", i.e. knees bent with only your feet touching the ground, then yeah that's pretty ridiculous. I dont think the stance alone would make it impossible, the weight of a .50 is not something to scoff at.. their fucking heavy, like 40 pounds! But they do reach out to over 1500M.

So that's why you spawn on the beach! lol

Yup... its got a steep learning curve. Time in the game is really all it takes, that and having a buddy with you helps alot. Its difficult but its just a matter of time before you have some sweet gear and you are presented with the decision to be a good guy, or bad guy....

I like the idea of this thread... Sleep.. or a need to rest, similar to eating. Stamina.. Really this dude can sprint across the entire map? Jogging.. I can see that.. but a full on sprint? C'mon!

Sooo.. I was just thinking about what this statement and I want to ask a serious question, no sarcasm. Would you really rather watch a video of the nice guy giving a stranger a blood transfusion, or a full on assault on a town by bandits? You dont have to answer, but my point is this.. we (humans) typically watch the bad new rather than good news. Seriously, take a look at cnn, youtube, your nightly news, or even TMZ... rarely do the ever present good news, or the story of the nice guy who walked the old lady down the street. I dont think that the youtube videos of bandits doing bandit'y things has anything to do with your concerns. IMO its just more entertaining to watch. Dont get me wrong, I have already said that DayZ needs a hero, and I'd totally get a kick out of watching a video of the hero rescuing a n00b from a team of bandits and zombies in a hail of gunfire, but when it gets to the point where the shooting stopped and he is just doing a blood transfusion, or sharing supplies, I would probably skip to the next video with guns, girls or cars.. Oh and your one of the regulators? Arent you supposed to be regulating this kinda stuff? Where's your hero video? lol j/k

Fucking awesome! But I'd be PISSED if that was me.... lol Word, I gotcha. I think adding elements to the game as it progresses, will add tremendously to the replay value. Damn good idea but just out of curiosity, what would you add?Balance is required, and I am not the guy to tell you how to achieve this balance... I also don't engineer or design video games, I manage a private security firm and spend a lot of time working with rules, laws, regulations, policies, etc... But my experience has taught me that increased enforcement and regulation is usually not the answer.

Damn.. there was a way to do it for free.. I paid for it.. shit!

I gave you beans, but I still disagree some what.. You say that once you have survived long enough and become well enough equipped that there is nothing really left to do. And thats where I think your wrong. Dont misunderstand, I do see your point. But when you have reached this apex, sorry for reiterating, but the choice is yours to do what you want. I said it before, but the easy choice is to cheat, lie, steal, kill... its much simpler, and a quick and easy way to entertain. But there are others who have made it their purpose to help others and to combat the bandits.. I personally think "choice" is the pitfall everyone seems to be mislabeling as bandits, or not having anything to do. When you get to this point, and you think to your self.. now what? The now what feeling is because you are not being guided any more. We are all so used to being told what to do, where to go, taking instruction and having direction that when there is no instruction, we are lost. I imagine the thought process something like this... So, now what, im not being told what to do, i am free to go where I want and do what I want, and I want to be entertained so I will hunt people for kicks.
