Behind you. -
Why doesn't rocket simply implement all the necessary things to make the persistent multiplayer aspect of DayZ into the patch since he works for Bohemia as a developer for ArmA 3's multiplayer..
-
I played with you a few days ago! Anyways, yeah I heard the same thing. I'm just hoping they incorporate a lot of server related stuff, otherwise I will continue being stuck in "waiting for server response" for forever.. :(

Want to host a DayZ Server? Read in here.
[email protected] replied to Antipop (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
You're wrong, because when you pay to host a server you're paying to help test DayZ. You're paying so that more people can have the opportunity to play the mod. You're paying to be able to play, but not to have your own rules. DayZ has a premise that everyone should be following; Survive, by any means necessary. There will always be bandits in any server, you cannot control that because then you're just going to kill off half of the community. As a server admin for other games, if you start doing things that isolates your community.. you will never grow, people will get bored and you will find your community dying. You're going to have people who will join the server hoping to just play the game. They're going to kill a player because they are one of those people who shoot anything moving on sight. They are going to be kicked/banned and that will make them disgruntled. The end result that if this happens enough those people will simply stop playing. Bandit free servers in DayZ? No. I don't think we need those. I don't think anyone should even consider trying to regulate it, because you're just going to end up taking away from the experience at that point. The point of DayZ is to survive. It is to fight zombies and to have this inability to trust anyone because of your previous experience with other players. It makes you want to work as a team with friends who will group with you on the same server. I'm not a moderator. I'm not an admin. I am a player who says "No. I don't want that. I don't want to see that in this game. I can't make you NOT do it, but I do have the right to say my peace and walk away." -
It's against DayZ server hosting rules: I'm letting the admins know that the BRA2 server is passworded. DayZ Zombie RPG - BRA2 (v1.5.7) dayzmod.com - Hosted by CBPR.

Do not password your servers

I don't know but Rocket said that passworded servers are blacklisted and will not run. Only whitelisted servers will be playable. -

As of right now passworded are not allowed - DayZ is a persistent multiplayer experience. As Rocket stated -
[GUIDE] City Sized Maps - WIP
[email protected] replied to RSF TheCapulet's topic in New Player Discussion
You and these guys need to get together and make super high quality maps. http://avidblur.com/arma2/ http://savagecore.eu/dayz/ Just imagine being able to scroll into Cherno and seeing the HQ map you've made with all the locations marked. It'll be a navigators wet dream come true. -
(Solved) Kicked From Some Servers
[email protected] replied to Bogel's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Try a fresh install, fully patched and just DayZ installed. Some mods, texture packs, sound packs, etc cause problems. -
Reporting abusive forum member.
[email protected] replied to mikeambrose3's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yes, it's possible. You click the rocket ship that says "report" and the moderators will deal with it accordingly. -
You're the man, Rocket. I love how you keep us up-to-date on little things like this. For server admins it's preparation time, for players its "YAY, NEW PATCH!!!!11!!" for me it's "this should be interesting. I'm going to help out where needed" lol

Do not password your servers
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I'm a very to the book kind of guy. When someone violates a rule, I call them out on it. -
Yeah, not to shoot down your idea... but no. If you want to survive against other players - play ArmA 2. If you want to survive against zombies and other players, DayZ. EDIT: Also, the rest of that idea which somehow escaped me while I was writing my response... Minecraft. ArmA 2 simply doesn't have the capacity to do tools to chopping down trees. So, I would have to highly recommend Minecraft... or OR, make a game that can do that. :)

Getting teleported after killing a player.

Do you think we'll get more spawns inland so that bandits won't camp the spawn on shore all the time? -
Getting teleported after killing a player.
[email protected] replied to yoloswag's topic in New Player Discussion
I.. actually thought it was because of hackers. I've been a bandit for some time and on occasion, killing a player results being teleported. -
Do not password your servers
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yep, so as you can see from the gentlemen who helped me out here and pointed out that the BR server should not be passworded.. DayZ is in alpha. The developers have made a clear set of rules that server administrators must follow. In fact, if a server admin was in this discussion they would tell you that they have to read and accept the rules to running a DayZ server. It's very strict and over 80% of the people who apply to run a DayZ server get denied. I run with the facts mate, I don't dance in the bush with my pants off shouting "wolf wolf!" -

You'll be able to play on any server with a version equal to or lower than the beta patch you installed, down to 1.60.xxxxx Rocket, just wondering if you can be more specific about a patch time, ie when does the concurrent population dip down to something you feel is low enough to give the patch to server admins. sweet. Would you be so kind as to direct me to the patch? http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php Download the latest one :) It seems to be asking for a username and password when I try to download the latest beta patch. Any ideas?

RU3 Admin Abuse?
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
When I join a foreign server, if no one is speaking English... I don't speak at all. I do it out of respect, but also to not get kicked. lol -
Some of this may have been requested previously but I didn't see it when I searched for some of them. This not only contains some suggestions but maybe even bug reports. Some of this could even be implemented in patch 1.61 for ArmA 2 (since Rocket does work for Bohemia). 1. Log out timer - This is seriously needed as I have run into several players who log out the moment you shoot them or if they're being chased by zombies. I feel the system should take 10-15 seconds for the player to Abort and 15-20 seconds for those hitting ALT-F4. It could be used only when you're playing the DayZ mod. 2. Better collision detection - Zombies shouldn't be able to run through walls/fences, nor should they be able to attack through them. I've seen players fall through surfaces a few times, it does't happen often but it does happen. Poor bastards fell to their death. 3. Better anticheat measures - I'm not saying that BattleEye is a terrible service, but some of the hackers are getting a little out of hand. I took a shot at a player, killed him and was then teleported into the ocean. My friend took a shot at another player, killed him and was teleported into some forest. 4. Blood regeneration - I saw this one already but I wanted to make the idea clear. Since the game uses a realtime day/night cycle, I could see a system where your blood starts regenerating (VERY SLOWLY) over time. This would only occur if you're over a certain blood count (6,000 maybe?). You would have to get x number of hours in-game time for it to regenerate, logging out and going to bed to wake up with full health should not be an option. I know you can eat beans and meat, which should still be an option but just like in the real world - if you donate blood, your body takes a few days to put it all back. 5. Watch at start - I don't know about you, but everyone I know wears a watch. I think it should be the default item to spawn with. 6. More spawn locations - Bandits are always camping the ones on the shore. We need more spawn locations, even if it is inland. 7. Location based database server - I think to ease up on the "waiting for server response" we need more database servers in different areas. I think that one in New York, Chicago, Dallas and California should do for the US. These servers would report the same information to the master database server which would be separate from what the game servers connect to. The best way to describe this would be Player -> Game Server -> Database Server 1 -> Master Database Server-> Database Server 2-99. The player is connected to the Game Server, the Game Server is connected to the Database Server, the Database Server is connected to the Master Database Server. The Master Database Server keeps the other database servers up-to-date on the players location/stats/equipment/etc. Keep in mind the Game Server also has to report to the Master Server so that it shows up in the server browser in-game. The Master Server is separate from the Database servers as it is handled by GameSpy or whatever. The cool thing you can do with the location based database servers is that when a dedicated server is connected to it - the database server tells the server "hey, it's 12am my time so it's going to be 12am in-game ok?" and the game server is like "oh, ok!" Should be doable. 8. A BETTER SERVER BROWSERI've been playing ArmA 2 for a long time and there's nothing more I could ask for than a better server browser. I want to see what servers I last played on and add any of them to a favorites list. 9. DayZ default mission in server browser - When you launch ArmA 2 Combined Operations with the -mod=DayZ flag, it should automatically set the mission type in the server browser to DayZ so that new players don't have to fiddle with anything more than just a "join server" button.
