Unluckiest Thing That Happened To You?

Starved to death in the debug wilderness on my oldest character. My desperate and feeble attempts to reach the map led me through periods of anger, frustration; and then finally, acceptance. I remember seeing trees peaking on the horizon when my survivor passed out for the last time.

    Cannibalism and Zombie suggestions

I was also thinking about suggesting cannibalism after watching "The Road" the other day. I think that it would add another dimension to gameplay and also possibly improve the atmosphere around the coastal cities - imagine sneaking through a town not only with zombies, but also with the thought of potentially being watched by hungry cannibalistic maniacs instead of random "PKers". Cannibalism could be implemented by having the ability to 'gut' dead survivors once an extremely low humanity has been reached. In order to deter everyone from people eating you could also add the chance of catching an illness from gutting a sick survivor, thus potentially lowering your blood instead of increasing it. Eating and gutting people would also significantly lower humanity - more so than murdering. Once an even lower humanity is reached, maybe have an option to be able to take a skull from a dead body. Only one skull can be taken per spawn which can be then placed on a stake within the world. These - if not randomly abused - could mark hostile cannibal territory to deter threats and to freak out survivors - think of the log cabin scene from "The Road". Also for all the sadists out there, imagine crawling through the forest dying but being generously aided by a fellow survivor. He offers you some cooked meat, and you eat it feeling much better - but then, after noticing your humanity drop, you feel the horror in realizing you ate human flesh, and that your would be helper is sickly chuckling to himself before making you his next victim.

    Player Controlled Dog

All I can imagine when reading this is a single survivor sitting on top of the Cherno firestation tower; and when upon seeing another survivor, cries out "Release the hounds!" Then 10 of his buddies playing as dogs bound out from the firestation garage to run down and maul the unlucky victim.

    Electric and Natural lighting's V 4.0

There are also dams further inland like Grendal mentioned. They could be possibly easier to activate and require less maintenance, but contribute less to the power grid.

    The Battle Bus

With the durability of a BTR-60, the storage space of a Ural, and the speed and mobility of... a weighed down bus, I present the BATTLE BUS Z-Edition.
  6. Wow there's kids under 12 playing this?
  7. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=588&page=99 I swear all of these threads are the same. Everyone's entitled to an opinion but can people please stop filling up general discussion with this?

Did anyone buy Arma 2 solely for this mod?

I used to see DayZ pop up in my multiplayer lobby when there were only about 7 guys on at a time, thinking it was just a group of people playing the zombie sandbox mod together. When I finally decided to join one night I was totally blown away and have since loved every second of this mod.

The great sport of Cherno Running

If you had the tools to create sandbags you could also hold the hurdles event!

Would you shoot the unarmed person?

I'd offer him my spare Remington in my pack lol (not the ammo, of course).

    Longest survival

Been able to stay alive since mid April. But tbh I've only just passed 24 hrs total in game time. :P

  13. At the moment' date=' yes :P. I don't necessarily think its fair or enjoyable to be pursued by someone who can see in the dark while you can't, but I can deal with the unfair advantage that NV brings. I hate, on the other hand, exploiting the gamma levels. assholes.... Just think of it as a challenge. I've somehow manged to survive for over a month with only a flashlight and a rangefinder in the pitch black. :P And imagine if they ever implement spotlight mounted cars and helicopters how much fun it would be trying to outrun and hide from one in the dark as it hunted you.
  14. I suppose another reason for it being so dark is that it forces people to use the light sources available in game. When the moon is out there is no use for flares/chemlights/torches except for signalling people. On such nights even NV can get a bit annoying and it narrows your FOV. The only downside is that some (most? idk I don't do it) people up the gamma I guess.

Wildies vs Coasties. Which are you?

Been alive since 16/4 doing anti-clockwise laps of Chernarus. Whenever I am passing the coast I tend to stick at least 2km inland and only ever brave making the occasional dash to Elektro powerstation or the NE airfield.
  16. Like others have said, in the middle of nowhere on a cloudy, moonless night with absolutely no light pollution RL can get as dark as in-game. Arma 2 to a point already simulates your "eyes" adjusting to changing light levels - for example stare at a flare in NV and then cancel NV. Note how the game mimics human rods/cones and night vision by how it slowly adjusts brightness and colour levels. I personally love the atmosphere pitch black nights provide when stumbling through towns - with no light source as to not attract attention, whilst keeping an ear out for zombies and bandits.

    Suggestion [Blood Donation]

A pair of scissors and some garden hose.

    Player Journals

I very much like this idea. It could also be used as a bandit/friendly list; so that if another player were to find your corpse, they can refer to your journal to copy down potential threats/allies.

    Whats your Reason?

After surviving for almost 24 hours, the paranoia of being killed and losing all of your progress starts to kick in. For that reason I mainly just avoid people altogether. If I need to go into a town for supplies/ammo, I'll often find myself sitting ~1km out scoping out my surrounds for around 10mins. If I see a survivor I'll just lay there watch them to see how they interact with their environment/fellow survivors and proceed from there. I don't participate in mindless/unnecessary killing as I find it un-immersive and not in the spirit of the whole survival concept (I have no problem with people who murder for survival, however). I also have no problem with shooting first if someone is a direct threat; or if they are broadcasting their 'PvP skillz' in global and are a known murderer. Overall with gear so easily accessible in the world I don't really find it beneficial to be made a public enemy of the server just for a few STANAG mags or steaks from someone who is ignorant of your presence anyway. IMO it's better to be known as a friendly to the neutral players as the bandits would kill you regardless of humanity. The less hostiles the better.
  20. With all of the people joining DayZ who are new to ArmA 2 altogether I think that there should be a message when logging in that suggests to at least complete the first few bootcamp missions.

Where are people getting all this good stuff?

Selecting 'Open ... Pack' in the scrollwheel menu should allow you to see how many slots the pack has.
