    Humvee ?

    Found one (HMMWV) last night on an offical server. I was on a ATV running the north and west borders looking for camps and stashed vehicles. Found the hummer northwest of Lopatino. Not sure if it was a fresh spawn or abandoned by someone else. Was missing all 4 tires but otherwise fully repaired and fueled, with 5 full jerry cans stored in it. Was out in the open, not concealed in trees, and no camp or tents anywhere near it. Random chance did not favor me and It took me hours to find 5 tires and get back to it to repair it. Storage sucks. I can store much more in the ATV. Hummer storage is mostly Jerry cans and spare tires. (Never go anywhere without a spare tire or two) It handles well on and off road but it's width can be a problem getting around road blocks. Fortunately it's durable. If you can't squeeze between a road block and a fence, you can just knock down the fence. Got me from Lopatino to Berezino on one tank of gas, via Komarovo and following the coast highway the rest of the way.

    I've never tried but every time someone has tried to bail out of a chopper I'm in, they die immediately. As soon as they leave the chopper, before they hit the ground. I've heard that the chopper has to be stopped, hovering with zero speed and you can do it. I've never tried or seen it done.

    But since all of these databases were made up from scratch making up or re-engineering missing information. Why don't the devs release the official database or schema? and a way to config the official server package to use a local database server instead of the hive.Then we don't have to choose one of these kludgy packages, just use the official one.

    I think Anti-Rocket's is probably the closest to the real thing. That being said ... All of them are hacks that had to fill in alot of missing information from scratch. Why don't you just release the "official" server package and the source code to the hive.dll so it can be customized to connect to any database? Or modify it yourself to connect to a local MySQL. That way it's not just close to the real thing, it is the real thing. And 100% compatible with future updates.

    Vehicle Spawn Mechanics Question

    To the best of my knowledge ... They only spawn at server startup. There is a limit to the number of each type of vehicle. For example one huey per server with 8 possible locations for it to spawn. Each spawn location has a % chance for a vehicle to spawn up to the max number for each vehicle type. Player proximity is not a factor and if every vehicle on the server was destroyed, nothing would be replaced until the server was restarted. When a player finds and moves a vehicle, it's new location and inventory is saved. It will not return to it's "spawn location" again until it is destroyed. Even then it may not based on it's chance to spawn. Destroyed vehicles and any vehicles that have not been accessed in seven days are removed from the database. When the server is restarted, all existing saved vehicles are placed in their last saved location and new vehicles are spawned to replace any that were removed.

    Don't dump your gear. Just make room enough to pick up the trash and take it outside. You need room in your backpack to pick up excess bandages and pistol ammo. Dump it all on the ground in a safe place away from any other loot piles. Then leave the building and move at least 30 meters away (loot won't spawn if you're closer) then wait 10 minutes max (loot respawn timer is 10 minutes) and return to more loot. It's best of you cycle through several buildings in a loop. Clean out one, move to the next. By the time you return to the first, it's been 10 minutes and there's new loot.

    Sounds to me like someone drove that bike to where the pickup was and swapped vehicles. Was it already repaired?Vehicle locations are saved automatically when a player exist the vehicle so fresh server re-start or not, they will stay wherever the last player left them. Fresh vehicle spawns only happen when a new server starts for the first time and thereafter only to replace destroyed vehicles. So you'll only find a fresh vehicle spawn after a server restart if one or more vehicles were destroyed.

    One per server. Eight potential spawn locations. Most likely location: Hidden any place on the map by someone who found it first. Most vehicles have already been found, repaired, moved and saved. If they are saved, they do not respawn in their known spawn location. They generally stay under the control of whoever found it first indefinitely. Unless you can find where they hid it and steal it from them. Simply put. The known spawn locations are the last place you'll find it unless you're one of the first players on a brand new server.

    1.7.2.6 buggy?

    There's no way to tell if your screen is losing color at Night. I mainly play at night and everything is black and white anyway.The blinking + is all good and the blood drop icon will change to pink or red when you're low, but without a numerical display or changing the icon to show a empty/full graph It's not possible to tell whether you're just under 9000 or just above 9000. Should I eat a steak or get a blood bag now? Or should I wait?

    Are tents savable now on 2.6???

    My tent was empty after the first server restart, But everything returned after the next server restart. Update: Everything is still there after multiple restarts.

    Updated FYI... Tents don't seem to might be fixed. I jumped on a freshly updated server running 1.7.2.6 and put down a tent. I put a few wood piles in it and saved it around 5:30pm Came back after a 6:00pm server restart and the tent was empty. The vehicle I left nearby was still there but it was a bicycle so I couldn't test the inventory. Update: When I logged in again this morning after another server restart, the items in my tent were back.

    Still not working. Updated: Looks like it's working I jumped on a freshly updated server running 1.7.2.6 and put down a tent. I put a few wood piles in it and saved it. Came back after a 6:00pm server restart and the tent was empty. The vehicle I left nearby was still there but it was a bicycle so I couldn't test the inventory. Update: When I logged in this morning (after another server restart) the items were back in my tent. Update2: After multiple restarts my tent is still holding on to it's inventory. Don't know why it was empty after the first restart, but it seems to be working fine now.

  17. If you zone into a building and there's loot there, it's because it was there before you logged in. If you zone in and there is No Loot, that means nobody has been nearby to trigger loot spawns since the server was restarted. Loot isn't "saved", it just doesn't despawn. It stays there until someone picks it up or the server is restarted.
  18. One more question. Is that 10 minute timer global or individual for each player? Does the timer only start once you're within 120 meters? Or if it's global might trigger 30 seconds after you enter the 120 meter range? Edit: I expect it's global. I'm just looking to confirm since I know there's alot of code that runs client side but I've always assumed that loot spawn is handled server side.
  19. Is the radius measured from the building or from the loot spawn location? For example, I could be within 120 meters of a hangar building but still more than 120 meters away from the loot pile in the back of the building. Are all loot piles in a single building grouped together or are they all handled individually? Thanks for the info. Edit: From the code you posted it looks like it's measuring your distance to the buidling. I guess that's your distance to any wall of the building as indicated by the distance to "house" shown on the cross-hair cursor? So Loot spawns within buildings are handled together?

    There hasn't been a patch or an announcement of a pending patch in a couple of weeks. I know Gamescon was happening and the team has been busy. The few announcements lately from Rocket or the other Dayz staff have been related to the standalone game. It would seen that they are concentrating on that and the mod is on the back burner for now. I would guess there's alot of work to do in order to get the Standalone out by end of year. So will there be time to continue fixing or improving the Mod? Or is it pretty much done in favor of the standalone?

    Agreed. I'm so tired of games being "balanced" and "fair". It's buggy but I'm still playing because I'm still having fun.
