Yes this seems like the most logical way to handle it. As for people rage quitting because they cant quickly join up, dont start playing a mod in the alpha stages and expect everything to be simple and convenient for you. All these things will take time, and some wont be solved untill we get a stand alone.

NO, I never even used it once. so many more important thing the devs should focus on. its gone, now go play Dayz.

YES speaking as a player who started after starter guns were removed, It makes for some great intense moments in the begining. Zombies are way more of a threat at this stage. Punching or something to that effect would be nice however.
