Rocket I understand what you're doing and tweaking around, but I hope you understand how much this kills the very thing that made DayZ popular. I almost wonder if you're doing this on purpose to lighten some of the central DB server load... culling the community so to speak. The charm of DayZ is not that it's a zombie game. It's not that there is a huge world. It's that every time you play, and especially every time you interacted with players you did not know, you left with a story. There would be a story of some shady betrayal, or working together to accomplish something, or uneasy tension... that is all gone now, because the moment anyone sees another survivor, they will shoot first and never ask questions later. Exploring the game world will still be interesting and cool, but the gigantic game world is almost a little bit pointless. The game might as well just be played in Chern since removing a penalty for murder (even a negligible one like bandit skins, IMO) means this is now just a FFA DM. The amazing, unparalleled suspense and tension between you and a player you do not know is dead now, because no one will ever get close enough to each other to have that unique interaction. The videos and posts telling stories will be replaced by frag videos. This is basically a hardcore version of Battlefield now with zombies and a hunger system, until at least, you utilize the humanity system again. An oversight this large seems sadistically deliberate... and while it is cool that you have the option to do that to your game, it kills the very thing that makes the game SO UNIQUE. -

The only thing that really annoys me about this is the idea of another server derp and being pushed back to random beach respawns away from my group. It basically throws me into the barrel to get gunned down by these douches and doesn't even allow me to rely on the safety in numbers that my group worked to get.

I like the idea of dark, but my nighttime screen isn't just dark, it's literally pitch black across 80-90% of my screen. Having lived in the sticks before, I can tell you while it is dark, and sometimes even horribly dark, I can usually see at least the trees in front of me.

Fireplace and tent placement

Regarding the fire, I get why they limit the placement of it, makes a bit of sense at least. For tents, it's pretty terrible. I should be able to place my tent with some kind of cover, especially considering it's persistent on a server with or without me connected. Basically, if someone gets a chopper, they can fly around looking for player's tents to ransack in clearings. I should be able to hide them a bit from the air. -
One problem: There is no end-game. As Rocket himself has said in every single interview, this is the anti-game. It's not supposed to be balanced or have a finish line. Even though I know end-game doesn't mean "finish the game", there aren't really supposed to be objectives. Just, survive.

I really like the temperature system. It adds a new, hardcore realism dynamic that will give DayZ a new level of depth, but are there any plans to fix the Water Bottle/Canteen refill system? Having to swim 10-15 feet into a pond to refill my water bottle really stinks, and will especially suck if I can get hypothermia doing it. I understand the game is supposed to be unrelentingly tough, but I feel like our crack shot survivor characters would be able to kneel down at the side of a water source, and refill their bottle while staying dry. I apologize ahead of time if the water-bottle refill system's current design is a bug that will eventually be fixed!

The severe limitations you would need to enact to avoid exploiting the system would make the system pointless. Even being able to have ONE person teleport onto your location is horribly exploitable. Spawning to specific areas would be getting camped. Never underestimate the low depths a griefer will go to ruin your day. EDIT: Here's about as far as you could compromise this idea while still maintaining the harsh "anti-game" atmosphere and mechanics of DayZ, would be something like a 'buddy system' in the classic sense, not the Internet sense. Allowing you to 'tag' a friend or two on your initial character spawn, so that the two of you spawn nearby or together in your newbie spawn area. -

While what you're saying makes plenty of sense from the player standpoint, I think it goes against the theory of the game. Maybe with GPS and radios you could locate each other or "marked" friends via a friendslist of sorts, but having players spawn on each other would really increase PKing 10fold. This way, a single person could sneak behind enemy lines, then have his friends spawn on him and jump unsuspecting players. or they could scout in various directions and reconnect to the server and spawn on their friends. It's a bit too exploitable, and really goes against the harsh 'realities' of DayZ. -
I think just having some repairable genny's (using jerry cans for power) would be interesting.
