I'm strongly opposed to racism, but from the perspective of someone disrupting my play experience, one line of a foreign language takes up just as much of my often inadequate chat box as one line of racism. At least that's how my chat box sees it. It's a real bigot. What do you call this thing where you one second tell players who feel that their play experience is disrupted by foreign chatter that they can simply ignore the chat and then the next second you argue that racist chatter is wrong, not because of it's malicious nature, but because, wait for it... I dont see whats so hard to understand and you can always disbale voip anyway on the server so your point about someone screaming racist comments in the mic is null....its about typing racist comments in cyrilic that dont get picked up by filters. You are missing the whole point.... if you are being racist to someone then your being racist....just because YOU dont understand it doesnt mean others dont and are not offended by it, the rules are no racist comments....not no racist comments in english. its the comment thats racist not who its aimed at....if you speak racist comments in any language its racist, because YOU dont understand it doesnt mean others are not being offended by it

OK...and so its fine for someone to insult you and be racist to you in their language so long as you dont understand it....?? thats probably the dumbest thing ive read on this post ... but if you use english or a non cyrilic keyboard you are punished for saying something racist because everyone understands it because English is used on a lot of servers.... that is RACIST

my crazy hippie-commie-feminist arguments aside... There is no room or scope for us to allow customization of servers. We're going to be creating a standardized server experience. Maybe there will be in future, but now its just not going to happen. Even the current level of customization of servers is beyond what we will have. So you will have less of this, not more. I am not racist, I have no truck with people speaking other languages or from another country, but Teamspeak, skype, mumble, are all free, we use teamspeak and everyone including others from other countries use English as its a common language for everyone. For me one of the key aspects of the game is communication, ive been shot loads of time typing are you friendly in english, then you get something else typed back in cyrilic... or another language, by not keeping servers to a specific language all that happens is people shoot on sight and its turning the game into a deathmatch and spoiling it for everyone. Also how do we know someone typing in cyrilic are not saying something racist or malicious if we dont speak russian??, we have a swear filter on our server, but that does not include cyrilic only ascii and in english, so in reality english speaking players are being penalised only. So in order to enforce a no racisist or malicious remarks policy everyone needs to speak the same language...I support you 100% in all you asked for DayZ, but your logic is flawed.

So swearing can get us banned but cheating cant? @_@ I don't think server owners should have the power to ban users for swearing when a lot of them do it themselves, in fact, server owners should have to file a report to get users blocked at all. I can see abuse of power being a total game breaker. Some server owners like power and ban people for the sake of banning - simply because they think its cool and that they are better than everyone else. Swearing probably wont get you banned just kicked initially, but requests from the Admin to stop doing it might. Our server is set to give 3 warnings for foul or racist language, then a kick, if you rejoin and continue and any of the admins see a player doing this he will be banned as per the guidelines of signing up to DayZ. I dont know what servers you are playing on, but practically all the servers i've joined, I have never seen any abuse of position by any admins. In fact just the opposite, most admins have been friendly and helpful, giving advice to new players etc.

LOL blackfuse...nothing like praising your own post!...although you do make a good analogy. What bugs me is not the guys like Rocket and the rest of the staff who are actually doing something to help resolve the problem, its the attitude of the "If you don't like it then don't sign up for it" crowd, some of whom probably just bought ArmA and OA from Steam last week but think they should have a say in how a sever someone else pays for should be run.

I think you are a bit naive there mate. You probably dont host your own server...when you have paying members breathing down your neck about not being able to get onto something they are paying for, your outlook may change. Most admins ive come across are just happy if their server is stable at the moment and not kicking for any other reason than to keep the server lag free because of high pingers or mouthy idiots.

When you've forked out a few hundred bucks every month and cant get onto your own server for a game, then someone says "NO ONE asked you to host" come back and see if you feel the same about hosting a couple of servers :P

I feel your pain JimmyTheImpaler :@. When everyone who doesn't or won't put their hand in their pocket and pay for a server just say that's tough luck and quote rules, we get to play on your server for free and you suckers get to pay for it but cant connect, it does get frustrating. What everyone needs to understand is there needs to be some common ground, without the support of guys who operate servers, thousands of the keyboard bashers continually hitting join to get onto the few available servers will lag the game out completely for everyone. Then the same people will be complaining there's not enough servers. At the moment DayZ is viral, so everyone is raving about it, but if server operators and people who are paying cant get onto their own servers, they will eventually quit DayZ at some point. Which will be a shame as this mod has probably the greatest potential of any online game ive seen. So by just quoting the rules and saying you signed up for it, if you don't like it just leave, they will do eventually...The mod is in Alpha and hopefully things will settle down, but there's not many people who will pay for a server and not be able to play on it.

Holdfast if you actually took time to READ MY POST you would have seen i said it takes some members nearly 20 minutes to connect....if i were kicking people to make room for members they wouldnt need to wait 20 mins to connect....before you start quoting people please read and understand what they have posted. I pay for a server for others who cant or wont and i freely signed up for the mod. There is no need to post everything in RED. I do feel however members who actually PAY, are getting the thin end of the wedge at the moment...thats just my opinion

I agree kicking for clan members is not good, but when they are paying for the server and cant get on because others are taking up slots for free it doesn't seem fair either. Maybe when the servers stop being overloaded and slots are available more readily, the situation will change, but we have had some members wait for up to 20 mins trying to get onto the server, only to get on and then lose connection again, so there is a frustration level at the moment for everyone because the mod is so popular and there is no simple answer to keep everyone happy.

I have to say i wasn't keen on the amount of zombies at first, but it makes the game a lot more challenging and no more looting towns unless you really use the stealthy approach. But if i can be so bold, not complaining, just observations. Zombies a bit slower maybe... when they detect you, and the server lags its almost impossible to shoot them until they have knocked six bells out of you and you look like a butchers window. Everything else, i can adapt to...yes even the long Waiting on Server message, the mod is in Alpha, so with time it will only get better and when the noob's clogging up the servers get pissed off and go back to Battlefield 3, the rest of us will be able to enjoy this awesome mod.
