  1. Yes i can confirm that they have nothing to do with DE1 or Dao.nu.
  2. Ive seen this server locked as well with 6 or 7 players online...not a good sign.
  3. At the end of the day guys, does it really matter? its just a game and just another choice, adding another aspect to the game... now if I could make a request to the DayZ devs. Can we put my wifes face on every female character, so i can be happy shooting her... errrrrmm, sorry.... them :)
  4. Jeez...is this thread still going!...i bowed out a couple of days ago. As an admin I am not happy with the Cyrilic Keyboards either, I have no problem with Russian players what language they speak or any other nationalities on a server so long as it keeps the game running smoothly for EVERYONE. Rocket has already said a few posts ago enforcing a server to use just one language is not going to happen for the moment, they may review the situation later. but for now its just NOT going to happen. So until the DayZ guys sit down, think of the practical repercussions of the rules they have in place and review all the complaints, its just wasted energy arguing in this thread about it. Everyone will always want their say, could a moderator not close this thread and let this drop for now.
  5. Unfortunately there are bad admins, but there are a lot of good admins and good servers, in fact the majority of admins are responsible, there will always be a few rotten apples or people under pressure from members who pay for the server to kick others off so they can get on.... all you need to do is play on different servers and you'll get a feel of how fair the admin is, if there are a lot of random kicks and a bunch of clan members suddenly join, then just leave and cross that server off you list and move on to another one that abides by the rules of DayZ, there are plenty of servers, you do eventually get on, even if it feels you have been waiting for a month... On the other side of the coin, there are just as many, if not more idiot players than there are admins, they usually ignore warnings, question why their friend was kicked and mouth off at the admin, mouth off at other players, or are barrack room lawyers who quote TOS rules at you and complain constantly until you have to kick them from the server for some peace, or they just simply disrupt the game for everyone....that apparently is how some people get their jollies....so banning people is a fact of life with online games, unfortunately its not a perfect world.
  6. We have been keeping a list of names and guids of death dodgers on our server...as yet we dont ban, just kick if they try to reconnect and tell them we dont want them populating our server...but if/when a ban rule is implemented they will be banned immediately.
  7. Best servers around...for price and reliability....
  8. Hmmm...Cant make your point without swearing...that must make it more valid then ...chill out
  9. I really couldn't care less how you play the game...and i am not imposing my thoughts or telling you or anyone else how to play the game...I posted MY opinion of how i feel the mod was intended to be played, otherwise its just another boring shooter clone to add to the list of all the others. If run and gunners get their jollies mindlessly running up and down a beach shooting people spawning in then whoopee for them... Shooting someone with a scoped weapon as they spawn in with nothing more than a handgun must be a real challenge. You don't care where you spawn or if you lose what you have collected, because when you die you are spawning back at the same few areas you play the game in, where as i and others want to try and keep what we have and move around the map....but we are forced to play deathmatch to suit you and others because we have to spawn on the beach...yes human bandits do add something special to the game, but for me, they don't add anything if all they are doing is running around the beach spawn killing players or camping on roofs shooting players with a DMR just so they can boast how many kills they have.... if thats the way you like to play the game...good for you. I wont lose any sleep when you get bored and leave.
  10. Mostly everything else you have i or someone i play with has found at some point except those bloody elusive NV Goggles. I've lost count of the amount of times we have raided the barracks and airfields looking for NV and found damn road flares, painkillers and chemlights... but you do have a point, the less decent things you possess, the less bothered you are about being killed. The challenge for me then is just simply to get back to where the survivor group is at, while avoiding zombies, humans, towns, etc unless i am forced to loot on my own for food/water, which is risky as you stand the chance of ending up back amongst the lunatic fringe on the beach again.
  11. I think you are missing the point of this game. The challenge is to survive by scavenging, looting, bartering or shooting someone (in my case if they are hostile) thats what makes the game different. Running around on a beach shooting everyone who spawns, is whats turned a very promising survival/mod into a deathmatch.... there are hundreds of online games where if your thing is shooting others is more apt. For one...all i see you is another run n' gunner who will eventually tire of the mod and go back to playing COD and Battlefield.... sooner the better for me.
  12. Damn, i would kill (literally) for a set of NV Goggles, ive been all over the map and haven't seen anything resembling them yet.
  13. IMO losing your life is a major pain in the A$$ for most players, an exception might be the run n' gun players who don't care where they spawn, they just either spawn camp near the beach or shoot everything on sight. But if you are part of a team of survivors, playing the way i think the game is intended and that's simply to survive by any means... cooperation if possible murder and treachery if not. If or should i say when you get capped the whole experience of then being faced with a long distance to travel on your own back to join your survivor group, minus your already looted gear/backpack/nice weapons/map/compass etc if your fellow survivors cant retrieve them for you is enough of a penalty to make you play the game with a lot of caution and for me adds a bit of tension as you definitely don't want to lose silenced weapons by being killed. further penalising any player is a bit overkill for me...just my opinion.
  14. Just caught someone named Miro death dodging on our server, a group of us spotted him but he only spotted one of us and started changing from pistol to main weapon to shoot, One of our group shot and wounded him then we all ran over to where he was laying bleeding and he suddenly disconnects... ive heard others say it happens on lots of servers, but its the first time i've actually saw some one do it and have 4 others see him as well....He is not welcome to play and we intend kicking him from our server if he tries to join again. At the moment we wont ban him, until we get confirmation to ban cheaters but IMO there's no room in the ArmA community for cheaters
  15. I am not being contradictory, i am just saying i find it hard to be sympathetic, although i fully understand where you are coming from....So why don't you just ride out the storm for now, same as i have had to with the cyrilic keyboard spammers, until Rocket and the rest of the DayZ staff get time to sort out a better and fairer way to play the game for everyone....We all know Rocket and the DayZ guys are under pressure at the moment, I am sure when they have time to reflect, they will at some point realise some things they have in place just dont promote good or fair play.
  16. Not to piss on your fire here Mojo... but yesterday in another thread you posted this to someone not happy with the rules...;) Yesterday, 07:04 PM (This post was last modified: Yesterday 07:04 PM by Mojo.) Post: #103 I am fully aware you are just explaining your actions and reasons why you have decided to quit being involved with hosting, and its admirable you are man enough to say ok I dont like the rules so i will resign, which is a shame, the community needs people willing to help out who have a passion for ArmA. But...when all you get from many people are "The Rules" thrown in your face, when you have what you feel is a rule that is just unfair...i find it hard to be sympathetic when those same people come up against the "Immovable Mountain" that is "The Rules"
  17. Yep probably autokick, you cant dictate what someone sees as a reasonable ping to keep their server lag free, just find a server with a lower ping.
  18. no need to neg rep me for simply posting alternative servers for rent...its an open forum. BTW i have nothing to do with Dao.Nu, i am in UK
  19. Dao.Nu also rent servers...50 Euros a month they also are great value for anyone thinking of hosting a European Server. They are based in Germany.
  20. I wouldnt have believed it until i saw it with my own eyes...To many script kiddies and "ill pay for hacks" noobs getting into the ArmA community now....hopefully they will eventually get bored and move onto another game where their low braincell count is more appreciated.
  21. Same thing has happened a couple of times on our server to a couple of us....just consider yourself lucky if it happens to you as a sort of bonus for all the times your character has lost their positions and gear when the character database has corrupted... just a glitch of some sort i presume.
