Having an easter egg or two as a shoutout to folks who've helped develop the game is one thing, but I'm of the opinion that when done in such an obvious and inartful way that it's simply tasteless. Herpy Doove's Canned Muffins? It's simply ugly and I find it to be quite out of place in what is otherwise a serious game. Some of the less gratuitous examples of the food names I'm not so much at issue with, but also needlessly cluttering up the loot tables is as pointless. Just my 2 cents.

Died on the Takistan map, and now whenever I try to join a server running on the same "Main" Takistan Hive, I get stuck on loading - The black screen with just the single "Loading" message. There's only one or two Takistan servers not sharing that hive that I can join; since this is only occurring on one particular shared hive I'm going to assume that this is due to my character data somehow becoming corrupted. Anyway, would anyone know if it would be possible to fix this? Get my character data wiped somehow? Would anyone know who I should contact if this requires administrative intervention? Thank you for reading.

My character data somehow became corrupted on the Takistan hive and now whenever I try to join a Takistan server I get stuck on the loading screen. Anyone know who can erase my character data so I can play again? Please.

On one of the Utes servers, everyone in the server was teleported into the middle of the ocean, with no land in sight. After disconnecting, I spawn in the sea on every Utes server and I am unable to kill myself or respawn in any way. Is there some way I can respawn? Perhaps an admin could edit a database entry, or something? I'm really out of options here and I find the Utes experience to be quite enjoyable.

I did some tests, and it seems this isn't a temperature issue; The thing will freeze when the GPU is at 90 degrees, when the thing is rated for 105. I remain mystified.

How do you check your SLI settings/turn it off? I doubt I have it enabled, but my computer came with a shitty integrated graphics card (That's still in there of course) that I replaced with my GTS 250 so I want to check this out.

Both me and a friend had this problem while server hopping to find a night server - Really takes it out of you. Oh well, now I know why it happened.

I have the same issue. You can temporarily fix it by pressing left shift and then your keypad minus key, and then typing FLUSH. This I believe flushes the VRAM and forces the game to reload its graphics. Of course this doesn't prevent the issue from occurring again, and for me at least occasionally when this happens the game will totally freeze and I need to end the process in windows task manager. I've heard that it may be an overheating issue although many have said that their cards were at normal temperatures when the crashes occur; you may want to find a temp monitoring program and get some data on that. Also, what kind of card are you using? I'm using an nvidia GTX 250. This issue doesn't happen to me in any other games that I've played, I assume the same is for you.

Same issue using nVidia card, it's getting out of hand with the constant crashing of the game. Sometimes I can resume the graphics in arma2 by doing the graphics memory flush but that of course doesn't prevent it from happening again a few minutes later. Sometimes I can play for hours without it happening and sometimes it freezes/crashes within minutes of starting to play.

I have the same issue. Very frustrating. I find that most of the time when it blackscreens I can either press esc (Opens the menu) and then press alt+enter which turns it fullscreen and restores the graphics, or alternatively you can press left shift+keypad minus and then type FLUSH to restore it. Unfortunately however this does not prevent it from occurring in the future and also occasionally when mine freezes up and blackscreens, the program has completely crashed and I need to end the process in task manager and then reboot. What kind of card are you using? I have an nVIDIA GTX 250. It runs just about every other game I have perfectly and nominally I get 30-50 FPS in arma2.

If it takes 100 20-liter cans to fill up a helicopter then clearly the tank capacity is 2000 liters, which seems to be quite a lot for a helicopter the size of the UH-1H. In general the tank sizes on vehicles is kind of screwy in this game, as well as fuel efficiency.... For example, I know that a motorbike in real life can get up to 20 km per liter, but the motorcycle in DayZ has a tank capacity of 30 liters yet has a range of less then 20 km according to the wiki, and the experience I've had in game seems to confirm that most vehicles in DayZ are ridiculously fuel inefficient even with completely repaired engines and fuel tanks.

I like the idea but I think using dogtags would probably be more appropriate.

I've been playing on one particular server for a few days and I've found some nice stuff (vehicles), so needless to say I'm quite eager to play on that particular server again. The issue is that now when I join it, my FPS is very low. Like, in the 1-5 range. Normally I get over 50 FPS when out in the woods, which is where I am, and when I was playing on the very same server earlier today and yesterday I was getting perfectly fine performance. I've joined other servers and I get fine performance there, too. Does anyone know what is going on here and if so how can it be fixed? Obviously it's quite impossible to play with such lag. It is simply very unpleasant and I've grown rather attached to my ATV and all the stuff inside of it. I'm running the steam version, and launch the game using six launcher. Windows 7 64 bit, nVIDIA GTX 250 GPU. Thank you in advance (hopefully...)

Sigh. I guess I'll keep rejoining that server once every few hours and hope it gets better. Thank you for the info though, it at least gave me a better understanding of what's probably happening here.

I don't know, actually. The strange thing is that I was playing not 8 or so hours ago and my performance was perfectly fine, but now when I join it just tanks. Could there really be that drastic of an effect after such a short time?

Got any tips for an aspiring vehicle hunter? There's nothing in DayZ I enjoy more then a good joyride, although I've only been able so far to find 2 buses and a few bicycles. Usually I give other players a wide berth when I'm on foot and I only kill when I can't avoid it. I think the hoarding thing is quite hilarious also.

I spawned on the docks in Chernogorsk, and went down to the local Zvesda and firestation to stock up on supplies... Shortly after this, still in Chernogorsk, I found this lovely boat sitting there in the middle of the streets. It gave me the option to save it and of course I got in... Soon another friendly newly spawned player came up and we started chatting, and he got in with me. Sadly, though, as we got out we were attacked by a bandit and I died; My newly met friend was injured and I do not know what became of him. I suppose this proves that Chernarus gets its share of floods/storms, hah...
