Howabout just giving people an automatic cooldown after they DC? Must wait 10-15 minutes before connecting to any new server. Would prevent server hopping too

+1 for booby traps.. grenades are rare enough.. it wouldnt be so bad to be able to place a discreet tripwire somewhere, but if the player spots it, they can disarm it (ie if they spot the nade in the empty can) they can step over the wire or disarm

Bad idea. Go play arma 2 coop if you want to have nice toys and drive around and kill AI.

Problem 1, giving away a players location? That's a game breaking problem. Problem 2, player with bounty puts all good loot in tent, player's friend kills player, player's friend collects bounty. Go read about the bounty system in Eve Online to see how broken this idea is.

I live in Canada. Unlike our nutty neighbors to the south, we have sane gun control laws. To get a gun, you have to go through a background check by our federal police force. Hardware stores still sell guns, gun stores still exist. There's a hardware store a 15 minute walk from my house where I could get a shotgun, or a hunting rifle and all the ammo I could possibly want. Police stations and military facilities have weapons lockers that would make you drool. If you're a farmer or a hunter or you live in the bush, you have guns. Guns are everywhere, even if you're a european urbanite, the guns are there, you just don't know it. -
I actually posted this exact idea a few weeks back. I agree completely. It should be possible to slowly waste away from hunger.

Lol you obviously don't know anything about game development. I've worked at EA sports. Before a game is feature complete, they add in features as fast as possible, and send the build down the pipeline. Why? They're trying to get the game finished in this century. If you've used software engineering best practices, then you will be able to isolate bugs (something rocket seems to have had no problem doing). You don't test one change at a time unless you're in first year CS classes doing 2 hour lab projects. -

What value would NVGs have if you can see well at night without them? The night is good as it is. It became even better when they removed the gamma exploit because not everyone walks around with night vision anymore. If you can't see use a flare, chemlights or your trusty torch. They exists for a reason. Go re-read the OP... There needs to be balance between the black screen night and the free nightvision (gamma cranked on moonlight nights).. Night should mean reduced visibility. It should be hard as fuck to see. You should need flares to get around towns and loot, but you should be able to see a zed 2 feet in front of you, and you should be able to see enough to navigate. Using a suicide light is not an option, because why would I use it and risk death of my toon when I can just wait for daytime? I want to play at night, but I can't because it's unrealistic. ITS A BLACK SCREEN. Only people with NVGs will defend this. -

Did not know that the darkness problem was related to the beta patch. Thanks pogoman. Still having gamma locked in the meantime is a bit of a pain. Not much point in playing if all I can get is black. I want to play at night, and I'm pro-gamma/brightness locking, but it needs to be playable. -

So take the suicide light, or deal with my black screen. It's not realistic, it's just a black screen. Gamma hdr stuff is all locked now. Enjoy your black screen. -

It's selfish if no other players have even a remote chance of finding your stash. Losing stuff is part of the game, so unless you want to organize a trading post with people pulling round the clock guard duty shifts, then there should be a chance that someone will stumble upon your camp and steal your stuff. I think the map needs to be bigger (or as big as the technology will allow). But people should not be able to camp wayyyyyyyyy the fuck off map where the camp can't be found. Thats bullshit. Fuck those people and fuck their hoards. Grow some backbone and lose some gear. It's not the end of the world... err.. it is the end of the world, but it's not a big deal to lose some stuff... -
