I recently rented a server from vilayer and get it all up and running fine as a private hive server, and we have now got bored of the lack of PvP, i mean theres only so much zombie killing and safely looting you can do before you want to get the blood pumping from the fear of getting shot at any moment. The only thing is i cant seem to remove the password from the server without changing to a public server, i obviously dont want to do that as it brings with it hackers and griefers. So my question for you guys... how do i go about removing the password and have a private hive open for the public? weve even got to the point now where we have put the password in the name of the server to bring some people in, but no-one has appeared as yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I did try something like this but it kept on telling me i needed to input a password regardless, maybe ill give that another go.

Really? i felt sure that i played on non-passworded private vilayer servers before.

Hi, Im new to hosting servers and having some problems and can't seem to find any help on the Vilayer website, but i'll explain the situation; Me and a reasonably large group of friends have decided that hackers and what-not are not for us, so we decided that we would host our own server and see how we got on, our plan was to have it on a private hive and lock it as there is enough of us for a full server and we all know that none of us are hackers. The problems i am having after setting up the managed server are numerous, for starters; after recieving the email saying my server had been installed, i followed the link, entered the required information and got to the server config page, i changed the maximum number of vehicles and decided to try the server to see if it worked ok but i cannot get the server to start, it just keeps loading and never actually does anything. I also wanted to have our private server on Lingor island as we are all agree that it is our favourite map, it says i need to install "Vilayer Code Update v2.1 & Arma2OA 97239", but when i try to do this it fails after extracting with the message:Error - Access to the path 'E:\TCAFiles\Users\AlexF\3487\perl\perl\bin\libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll' is denied. My list of problems could go on - as i say im totally new to server hosting and to be fair i am relatively new to pc gaming, although i am computer literate some of the server configurations are totally alien to me. If someone who hosts a vilayer server would be willing to guide me through what i have to do, i would really appreciate it, i know its probably a pain in the arse but even if you could just tell me the basics im sure i could figure the rest out as i go along. How long did it take for you? they have already changed the server name to what we requested so i would have thought it was done?

Okay, the server had started, it still said waiting for host so i have tried to restart it.... Currently it is still "starting" and has been for a while. Edit: i have just been informed by a friend that i need an Instance id? i have sent another ticket to Vilayer.com asking for this but at the rate this is going im not going to hold my breath.

apparently it has started, only when i try to join it just says "waiting for host", any ideas?

Im thinking i might have missed something... surely it should just start if i click start? im not too fussed about getting it on lingor island for the moment, i just want the damned thing to start lol.

I managed to set it to 30 vehicles for chernarus but i think this can be increased if i change the map to lingor island. I cant get the server to start let alone stop it again, but i am aware that it needs to be stopped if i am to make any changes. Not sure what i would have to uninstall, other than the files i have to play DayZ without a server. Still waiting for a response from Vilayer.com, i still appreciate any help you guys can give me.

No reply from them as yet, but im sure they will come good..... I hope :)

Update: I have sent my problem to Vilayer.com through a support ticket, hopefully they come back soon and I can get the server up and running asap.

That's a fair point but I can't find any customer service details on the site anywhere. I've spent all evening trying to figure it out.

I soon clocked on after a few shots and started to aim well above the target but still couldn't hit anything but floor.

I just had a similar situation, I hit the gut with my AKM from a prone position, he hit the deck so I continued to fire.... Not a single shot hit him whilst I was prone, not one?!?! My buddy then followed up with some shots while he was crouched and ended up dead from the encounter. In a fit of red rage I crouched up and unloaded at the guy from his side, he then promptly turned and managed to kill me, I wasn't quite sure how he managed to inflict any damage to me as he was side on when I started shooting, and as stated earlier he had already been hit. The encounter had apparently left us both with flies buzzing around our heads according to my 2nd teammate on overwatch. Luckily I spawned reasonably close, so after a 10/15min run I had managed to recoup my gear.... Happy DayZ! I tough encounter but I'm happy that the guy didn't Alt-F4 and gave us a good go. Still I find it strange that a prone on prone firefight results in no-one getting hurt.
