it's hard to understand the ways of the backpack but if you're in a loot pile and open it you get a full display of your backpack but if you're not then you don't and you've got to click the arrow to send it too inventory

would be a good idea as would increase the risk of starvation but if this is implemented I would hope they would reduce the chance of food as there's no point choosing how much you want to eat if you've already got 10 cans in 1 looting trip.
