Post apacolyptic greifing simulator for D-bags
Virfortis replied to skyter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can't dictate to the dictator because dictating is wrong. That's essentially what KoS players are saying. -
Hackers gone to scamming people out of their CD keys now?
Virfortis replied to Yeni's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How are they scamming a CD key? Even if they got it, isn't it already tied to their account? -
My first day, I fought my way to the top of a hospital roof, there was a guy there (this was before the mass KoS stuff). We spent 10 minutes in panic as zombies were around us. I tried to move forward. My character got up, ran, and went flying off the building. He landed on a zombie and died.

Absolutely disappointing playerbase
Virfortis replied to vibe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is the face of the PvP "Hardcore" community, now do you understand why games haven't been made for them anymore? The sickening level of biggotry, exploiting, and overabuse of basic level mentality (even rocket said to cut the tears are delicious shit out) has done nothing but a massive amount of harm to the industry as a whole. This kind of attitude is exactly why they go ignored, and they lack of knowledge on how to act in public flourishes in an online forum catered to them. Combine that with an "always must win" mentality, and it makes sense that they DC under fire. So yes, THIS is the face of the ultra elite, super hardcore that apparently everyone wants to be. Still feel like it's worth it? -
I say we man up and get rid of tents. Clearly ArmA2 is too buggy to allow for legitimate tents unless they save constantly (which would cause major lag issues). Want storage? Find a car, I have yet to hear of them being duped (if they are, I don't know of it). If we're going to have the fantasy of respawning, we're going to need to make fantasy adjustments against the griefing it brings.

Direct Communication NOT WORKING?!? I'm not the only one with this problem.
Virfortis replied to Stings2pee's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So you're sure your mic isn't working and people just aren't being the usual KoS? (I read, this is sarcasm) It sounds like a recent patch may have caused this issue. Try joining a vanilla ArmA2 server and seeing if Direct Communication works there. If it does, but not in DayZ, it's a bug and it won't get fixed for a while cause everyone's screaming about "this is alpha! you don't report bugs in alpha because it's perfect!" -

Why the "HIVE" won't work until we have some stability
Virfortis replied to Sol (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Um, dude? You're trying to have an intelligent conversation about a negative aspect of a game...in the forums...the breeding pit of the fanboys? There isn't that much intelligence here, sorry man. -
Killing two birds with one solution (scripting and snipers)

Remove the 50.? Why not kill the sniper, instead of getting killed.
Virfortis replied to Gh0st93's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Taking your advice, I should hide in the woods. BUT then what? Woods don't work forever, and checking a place is well nigh useless when they can just log in right behind you because they DCed from another server. I would say snipers have their balls cradled by rocket's "oh I'm not balancing" act, but first they would need them. In fact, the woods are almost as bad as being out in the plains, as it's literally a game of where's Waldo, only Waldo is also hunting you as well...sure you can stand behind the book so he can't see you, but then you can't see him either. If anyone is entitled, it's people coming into DayZ and saying "It's just a game dude, killing people's fun!" Yeah, I say we direct our ire towards them, they don't even meet the minimum requirements. Snipers can see through treelines just as well as open fields. Furthermore, they can lay still and not be seen if they're in a marginally useful hiding spot. Lastly, I have yet to meet a treeline hugger (hey I like that one o_o) that didn't just DC the moment SHTF. Cover only stops bullets, and being spotted while wearing a white shirt is easy. Survivors have to live with a glowing WHITE SHIRT, while most bandits have at least camo, and most coastal campers have the ghillie, which makes them invisible at a certain distance. -

Virfortis replied to Gh0st93's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As someone that regularly uses the AS50 when grouped, I can bear witness to its simplicity. The zeroing practically does all the work for you, and distance is just a matter of a couple hours in the armory. -
Weapons Wishlist and removals to fit Chernarus
Virfortis replied to Deuzerre's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think this is probably one of the bigger deals with the sniper rifles. If the one shot kill rifle was bolt action and took up a backpack slot, I seriously doubt it would be the staple for all griefing encounters. -

Virfortis replied to Gh0st93's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I love how the pro-sniper camps are completely illegible, yet the anti-sniper posts make logical sense. It's clear to me that anyone that has come out in support of the "kill the sniper" approach (laughable, given that DayZ is practically one giant open field and taking too long leads to their Alt-F4ing) cannot even make a decent sentence. Snipers ruin gameplay. This has been proven time and time again in every multi-gun FPS. It always, at the end of the day, boils down to which team has the better sniper. Why? Because in a video game, everyone has near perfect aim. The hardest part of sniping, the aiming and factoring of distance/personal safety, is negated by mouse actions. There is, likewise, no counter to a gun that has all positives, and the AS50/M101 has no negatives when used by actual snipers. The only downside these guns had was that they draw more zombies, and there are no zombies where they snipe, so it's thereby negated. Of course, to try and sneak around these snipers takes too long by any standard. If I have to spend an hour sneaking around a treeline and HOPE he isn't some hacker, I'm wasting my time. Furthermore, at the smallest hint that they might be compromised, they DC. Let's not also forget that it's a one shot kill, and getting the drop on someone 100% invisible unless up close is well nigh impossible. So go into the treeline and walk around all you want, it's not ACTUALLY going to help when they have so many other advantages. I'm probably going to hear a lot of butthurt from crying rebuttals about how one person out of the tens of thousands don't DC under fire, but these snipers aren't here to enjoy DayZ, just play an FPS, and if DCing is what it takes to keep the murder count, you bet they can and will. These exploiters (for indeed, being able to shoot willy nilly and zombie free is really exploiting the mechanics when a zombie would run across town to find the shooter in any reasonable game) do nothing but damage the game, and their presence is intolerable to any self-respecting gamer. -

Sniper rifles, all removed. There, authenticity problem solved. -
So the low grade guns get nerfed and the high grade guns get buffed. Still believe this game has no balance? It has anti-balance, for an anti-game. Go play a bandit if you want it to be easier.

I think it's not about being realistic, it's about being authentic. The military weapons should all be gone, already looted, along with all the good stuff. All that WOULD be left is the crappy guns that make survival well nigh impossible, because nobody actually wants them. Ask yourself, what would people behind you find after you really looted a place? Not much. We presume that this infection has been around for a while because there aren't many survivors (50) and the infection is literally everywhere. Unless it's a magic infection that infected everyone immediately, there's no way people wouldn't have run off with the good guns. Other survivors would have already looted the airfields and military camps. From a mechanics standpoint, what FPS doesn't have the one shot kill badass sniper rifle of doom? However, in any good FPS there's also a counter to prevent it. In DayZ, everything is so open that snipers are less of a challenge, and more of a demigod. Now since loot can be cycled, duped, hacked in and the like, those demigod style weapons are commonplace.

People shooting unarmed people, why?
Virfortis replied to kitta's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not likely, as "RP" servers are not only the most griefed of them all, but the ones that currently exist are blacklisted. This isn't too big an issue though, as private HIVEs are easy to get now. When DayZ goes standalone, will people be allowed to host their own server? I'm not entirely convinced they will. It's obvious rocket has this big plan in mind of controlling everything by ignoring balance and call it an experiment. Where this excuse falters is that everything is in favor of being the biggest douche possible, and I have yet to see a content update that gave something to normal survivors. Rocket's supposed lack of balancing is, in fact, false, he's constantly rigging the deck in favor of bandits by conveniently ignoring their advantages as fantasy/it's a game excuses, but also making the authentic (I.E. actually trying to survive) much more difficult. So players can take an easy, fantasy road that not only completely counters, but totally shuts down the difficult, authentic road. Of course, people say that's what makes it difficult, but there's a difference between difficult and binary. What makes real PvP so intriguing is that it's supposed to be more difficult than the normal gameplay, but in DayZ it only makes gameplay easier by removing the critical thinking. So, in essence, you're right. Griefing (it's not banditry, but that's a whole nother story) is not going away anytime soon without admin enforcing an authentic experience, and it seems rocket doesn't want admins doing anything in their own paid for server, so griefing is not going away. The only way to change that without admin support is to force players to think. I don't mind if I'm worth the bullet, and I do my best to seem that way by avoiding major towns, staying out of fields, etc. It's just that bullets are so cheap, and zombies so few, there's not even a real point in stopping to think if a player's a threat or not. -
You know, in a real zombie apocalypse
Virfortis replied to fluffyg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In an authentic zombie apocalypse, there would be too many variables to say what really would happen, and it would all be based on the culture of the area. Areas like England? Probably not so many shooters. Chernarus? It's an area of mostly small communities with a few fairly small cities. All very close knit I imagine, and very paranoid. -
DAYZ. what happens in the game will happen in real life.
Virfortis replied to tfninja's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As a Christian, I facepalm at this kind of stuff. Seriously guys, this stuff gives ME a headache. I would say he's just trolling but...there are the fanatics among us that make me cringe. -
Bandits have plenty of artficial/fantasy/mechanical advantages, having a disadvantage for once, even if not very "realistic" is necessary to ensure that the game has more to it than banditry. Currently, there's no advantage to a player not shooting others, but that's mainly because this is an FPS with no party-based mechanics. Unless an arbitrary reliance on others is put in, I doubt we'll see a reduction in maximum-gain measures.

Congratulations Community, You have become scum.

Mods make it possible, you just have to find them. I have a number of videos that just need to go up there to be seen by all. -
Why this community is so divided.
Virfortis replied to thunderpimp's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Myth: DayZ is a Zombie Survival Sandbox Simulator Reality: Zombies are easy, players are KoS, community is worse than 4chan, no survival aspect, and nothing progressive to do in the game. -

People shooting unarmed people, why?
Virfortis replied to kitta's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There's a difference between "this really isn't a game you'd enjoy" and "go back to MLP Online" So no, you're not being rude. I admit, DayZ isn't a game I enjoy in its current state. To me, it's a singleplayer survival simulator unless I want to interact, a seemingly no-brainer concept, interacting in multiplayer. So why is that so difficult? The problem is not that the game isn't something I dislike, the community is, and that's an entirely different can of worms. Just like I say that nighttime isn't authentic, instead of not realistic (which don't go there, just an example) we need to, likewise, just tell people that the community isn't for them, not the game. Perhaps when we start to use more accurate verbiage, we can discover where the problem is -

One: Agreed, community is shit. Why? I've posted this video dozens of times, but here goes. Two: I'm taking that picture and using it every time I'm replying to an idiot. Thank you.
