  1. Actually, a "sort ammo" button does sound pretty awesome. If you can find some cover and spend a while taking bullets out of a magazine to full up half-used ones...

    A question about infected speeds

If a zombie is decayed and rotting, wouldn't they break their legs while running? If they are rotting, the muscle structure would not support movement. Either way, they still have weight, and weight + motion = momentum (something I teach those Pathfinders constantly in my heavy armor on Tribes Ascend, momentum's a pain lol) so yes, the almost glitchy juking the zeds do is what's killing the zombie experience.

    People with helicopters

Your logic fails on one note: Spawn camping is an exploit, it's been labelled as an exploit for years. That's why it's called griefing. Griefing is not killing players, it is abusing the mechanics to further gain. It's no different than hiding in a rock to score kills.

    OH SO CLOSE!!!

It's best to try again in a few hours. It's daylight in US hours, so players are flocking the servers. Soon it'll be nighttime and most players will leave because it's pitch black and they can't handle working in the dark. That's the most stable time to log in.

Alright this is starting to piss me off.

I think I'll just take a break for a week and come back when things stabilize. The game is great and all, but spending all my time waiting for a server response does tend to burn the nerves out.

So where do I go from here? I can't get into the website, so will someone contact me? EDIT: Oh I don't use Steam much anymore, just to play Killing Floor with some friends.

    Damage/Hit registration

Lag, this mod is laggy as lag can ever get. Even if you score a hit on their box, it takes a good 3 seconds to register, and by that time they're usually already shooting at you. Even if your ping and their ping is fine, the actual "who hit who" is done by the server, which has to process thousands upon thousands of variables over vast terrain. It has to calculate EVERY zombie movement to the pixel and send that to up to 50 people per server, and there are tens of servers (maybe a hundred or more easily). So in the time it takes you to shoot and the server to register you hit, caused damage, and killed, the other player can easily find you and put just as many rounds in. That's not even counting the persistent world bit, which has to send all of this from a central hub, so the logistics is mind boggling.

    Disregard morality. Acquire Beans.

    Spawning in the ocean?

Sounds like he spawned in a glitch, abort and retry.
  10. Why does this game have so many idiots? Bxecause it has so many people.

    DayZ Stories

I wash up on shore and make a run inland. I make it up the hill and see a very nice barn. I sneak in very carefully, crawling and feeling pretty awesome as I sneak right by the zombies. I get into the barn and HOLY MACKERAL! The place was a goldmine. Winchester, CZ, Crossbow, all with plenty of ammo. I pick up the CZ and sight it for 100m (quick use) when I hear someone crawling. I'm already at the top of the barn so I wait it out. Another survivor came running in, bringing the Zeds with him. I didn't really have time to argue over who's friendly, so I put him down with the CZ. I then take my Mak and carefully headshot all 5 zombies. Feeling accomplished, I try to put the Winchester on, only for it to dissapear for some magical reason. I decide it's time to leave, so I carefully make my way out the door, only to get stuck in the door and fracture something because I was sliding along the open side. On my way out I see another survivor rolling across the grass. He didn't see me, but I took him down anyways...or so I thought. He continued to roll and roll, so I put one more CZ round into him to make sure. His body then vanishes, only to be replaced by a magic pop-up survivor which sprays me down with Mak shots, breaking my leg and then spraying a second mag into me to kill me. This, of course, pales in comparison to the time I was on a hospital roof and somehow ran off the edge. I wasn't pushing any keys to move, dude just decided it was time to die.

    =HA= Heavily Armed

Yeah I don't mind packing the meds, as long as I've got other people keeping an eye on me because I won't have many bullets lol. EDIT: Well crap, I was doing alright until someone lag-fragged me...literally...how does a body roll 15 feet, teleport back, and unload two mags? x_x

The website isn't sending me a confirmation E-mail, so here goes: Legend: Green Questions = DayZ Related Nickname: Virfortis Time Zone: Central (-6 GMT) Steam Name: Virfortis Do You Own A Working Microphone? (For Mumble): Yes, installed Mumble. How Active Are You On Games?: As school permits, this first couple weeks may be very slow due to company, but soon I should have plenty of time. Life has to come first I'm afraid. DayZ Name: Virfortis Best DayZ Roll (e.g. Sniping, Support, Scouting): Medic/Support How would you define your skill/experience in DayZ and ArmA2?: DayZ experience is a few days, ArmA2 is little, but I'm very willing to learn. Why Do You Deserve This Membership?: I don't think anyone particularly DESERVES membership. It's a privilege, not a right, to work with an organized group. It is also a privilege that must be earned. What Is Your Current Humanity?: -2k ish? It's been going down recently because of the increase in Zeds making hunting more challenging. Would You Eliminate Other Players Who Are Not In Our Clan? If So, Why?: Never pull the trigger before checking the basics: Can it be one shot, are Zeds nearby, are there others, did my squad leader say so, and is it worth the bullet? A Link To Your Most Impressive Screenshot: Kind of hard to SS at night, haven't gotten much daytime for worthwhile screenshots.

    The PvP Discussion Thread

A super long response that boils down to "shut up and let me kill who I want for fun" Yeah...violence in gaming at its finest >.> No wonder we had to fight so hard for our rights in the US. I say again: PvP in context is fine, even a great idea, but when the players realize it's just a game, and abuse game mechanics as thus (server hopping, spawn camping, etc.) it simply becomes RDM with Zombies. Rocket never intended for it to be that, and hopefully all this will be put to rest when the Bandit system is reworked.

Would you guys consider taking in someone with little ArmA experience; but lots of patience, ability to learn, and common sense?
  16. Virfortis

This mod is better NOW then ever before

The time cycle comes mainly from players having a life and only being able to play at night. The PvP whine is less about PvP and more about straight up griefing, can't see why we need a better gun. I think this game needs to be hard, but also have some common sense. As far as the topic goes though, I think the number is fine, but the spawning takes second place to the concentration of the zeds, I mean really...5 zeds near a deer stand? So yeah, spawns need work.

    DayZ and Basic Human Nature

Yeah this is kind of a bad social experiment, sorry. You're basing the data on gamers who realize it's a game and, furthermore, do not think about humanity as a whole. There is no real sanctity of life on DayZ, and since you respawn, there's absolutely no weight to the actions. You're trying to make something complex in a game dominated by basic-level thinking. Sorry, I give you kudos for trying, but this is not a good social experiment.
  18. Virfortis

This mod is better NOW then ever before

Deal with it. Does this mod attract a disproportionate number of the socially challenged or is it just my imagination? It attracts a large crowd of gamers who want a hardcore game. This crowd of gamers is intolerant to the other casual gamers that are crying to make the game easier to suit their favored play style. If you want the game to be easier' date=' go play another game instead of complaining on the forums. [/quote'] Or just...ya know...push to have Rocket fix the respawn system. Having to disconnect and reconnect is pretty stupid design. A 10 minute respawn time might be fun for those with a patience fetish, but it doesn't exactly work in the hardcore area either. It's still a game, so to be "truly hardcore" the game should totally uninstall and delete itself when you die. As it stands, it's short enough that people don't think about it the first time, but long enough so that anyone with common sense can see the stupidity of it, ESPECIALLY when the average life span is about 30 minutes.
  19. I haven't been playing DayZ for long, but playing as a Bandit is more entertaining. I wouldn't mind jumping in with a group. Now, right now I've got nothing, last login glitched out and caused me to die, but I have NO problems playing the Bandit Medic in the group. I'm very support minded, very team oriented, but trying to learn from experienced players...kinda hard to do solo. Basically, I'm smart, willing to learn, and willing to fill a role in a group.

Food and water being used offline

Seriously, this feels like FARMTOWN where you're like "ZOMG I have to log in and harvest mah crops!" Yet all the working servers are full Or you have a life Or your computer crashes So if anything goes wrong outside of the game, you're 24 ways of boned. No game should feel like Farmtown...

    The PvP Discussion Thread

You're uh...you're new to this whole internet thing huh? In the PvP crowd, no one's opinion is valid except their own. It's hard to adapt to an exploit of the game mechanics, but try telling that to those that have "never had this problem" and they just think players are soft. This may be an adapt or die world, but a game exploit is still a game exploit, hands down.
  22. Virfortis

    Is this normal?

In other news, you look pretty beat up dude o_o
  23. I read somewhere that we were supposedly part of a PMC that had a mission go south...hang on while I look, I could be wrong.
  24. Virfortis

    The PvP Discussion Thread

The greatest boon to DayZ is also its biggest downfall: Players. PvP is only PvP as long as a semblance of meaning is held behind it. As soon as players begin killing because it is A) Just a game, or B) Free-For-All Deathmatch, DayZ loses the spirit that makes it so unique. The free and open PvP comes at the cost of us being reminded that it's just a mod for a game that was based around a restricted attempt at realistic combat. It's a lose-lose situation, as without rules it really is a fancy America's Army 2 Free For All with zombies, yet to add rules will ruin the freedom and essence of DayZ. The only way for DayZ to stay an immersive survival game is to prohibit killing for fun or killing without a decent reason, which is both impossible and sounds like a dumb idea anyways.
  25. Still, we are supposedly part of a PMC, so not having a flashlight but having a can of beans and a Makarov pistol, plus ammo, seems rather unrealistic at best.
