I'm 21 and living in CST (GMT -6) Now, I know very few people like me, but if I became a Moderator I would stick to the rules to the letter, and not open to my own interpretation. That level of administration is not to be used based on personal preference, and I'm well aware (and supportive) of that. Actually, I'd probably be active but post only when nessecary. And yeah, you can quote me on this.

This Is Best Game I've Ever Played
Virfortis replied to Strategos (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Smile and a few people like you Snarl and everyone hates you, but you get better service. (Learned this when dealing with Gateway support -_-; ) Anyways, the mod is awesome and it's still in Alpha stage. I've never seen an Alpha be not only fun, but awesome, and this is coming from someone that has tested a LOT...LOT of games. -

The Quest of the Holy Mountain Dew
Virfortis replied to integerdevourer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But wait, let's take this a step further and ask rocket to put in a Sunkist (with the same rarity value) Then we must hunt down the church of the orange, for they defile the great Mountain Dew! (in reality though, Mt. Dew and Orange Soda are awesome together) -
Survive At ALL costs. Do you feel content? Then continue to survive. Seeking a new challenge? Create a checklist of things you haven't done yet (like achievements, but made up by yourself) Then get them done, even if you die and have to start over, keep at it. Feeling bored? Start a journal and do something different. Maybe make your way to the NE airport and brave the bandit menace there? THAT is how you play DayZ.

Too many downsides playing night?
Virfortis replied to Evilsausage's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The biggest advantage to playing at night is that you can get into the town and not be sniped from a hilltop as easily. Nighttime is also, and has always been, an awesome way to move without being seen IF you know how (it just takes practice, avoid running around in frequented forests). I still remember waiting in Rog until nightfall, then making my way up to Msta...a deer stand claimed my life (before the glitch fix) but I still felt pretty awesome for sneaking around the bandits in the woods. -
You, you and you. You are all part of the problem.
Virfortis replied to The Killing Joke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dude, chill. I used to get riled up like you, believe me, but then I stopped for a second and looked. rocket is working on allowing players to loot skins. If I was a bandit, and wanted to kill players, why would I dress differently? There was never meant to be an anti-grifing measure in this mod anyways, that's part of it. This may simply not be the game you want, and that's okay, a LOT of players are finding that out now. Here's the problem: People don't care. Whether they would or not in a real environment is irrelevant. The game culture used to be this way, having a sense of decency and morality, but has since lost it (why else are we having to fight left and right to avoid censorship?). There is a respawn system and you're shooting digital hitboxes, there's no level of humanity involved. No matter how many ways you try to string it, the core of this game is still based on the concept of Slayer/Free For All/Deathmatch. That's all gamers have been playing for ages, and that's all they're going to play. You can say people "should" have something until everyone is blue in the face (or until it begins raining and we all die of hypothermia) but that's never going to change that this is still these things: A game A deathmatch With respawns And no souls go to Hell on death. It's all about anonymity, the fact that you can do whatever you want and nobody will be able to touch you. Your buddy next to you can do what...make you respawn again? You'll just be back with a CZ in 20 minutes to laugh/rape him. -
Would rather start with a compass and have no pistol
Virfortis replied to underpaidorphan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well the Makarov is pretty pointless anyways in my experience, but spawning with a compass is definitely not a good idea. It gives the player a sense of direction, and half the fun in this mod is figuring out where you are. -
They're not going to take away Bandits. Soon we'll be able to loot suits. In which case, I'm totally down for that.

Anyone else like emptying survivors backpacks without them knowing?
Virfortis replied to undead_clown's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
...I have GOT to try this next time I'm out there. Is it known if you can loot weapons? It would be hilarious to disarm someone. Even if you can't, trying to take their stuff would be awesome, steal all their bullets maybe? -
Done. I admit I lashed out too much. I'm just getting very tired of the level of hate players get for simply not liking the mod as is. This is a huge project that has taken the internet by storm, people are going to come here that only think they want DayZ. When that happens, they get treated like little kids and told to go play in the corner with a tow truck. That does not mean I want the game to be easier, in fact I'm sort of hoping the aggro range on guns is increased by a lot. But if someone comes up and wants to know why there's no co-op version, or some idea to distinguish friend from foe (which, arm patches would be awesome when you think about it, espionage anyone?) they don't need the "GTFO carebear" treatment, they just need a link to the co-op zombie mod (even if it is stickied, people miss things). As long as nobody else fans a flame, the post dies and everyone's happy. Just because someone likes something different does not make them a carebear, it just means they came here thinking it would be fun and found they would have more fun in co-op. So yeah Rocket, I apologize for getting riled up (remind me never to post again when I'm hungry either, that couldn't have helped). I don't mind your happy-go-lucky approach, I even like that and hope to see more of it. Seriously though...unionized zombies...think about it...that's why we can't make the Zed count any lower, they've unionized. :p

The One, The Only: I HATE TEMP THREAD
Virfortis replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If a fireplace/antibiotics is the only way to prevent colds, why make fireplaces so hard to place down? Take Rog for instance, the center tower would make for the perfect camping spot, but we can't light a fire in it. Also, I've run out in the rain before...I didn't get sick of hypothermia from being out in the rain for a few minutes, BUT I don't know what the climate is like in Chernarus (I guess since everything is in Cyrillic, it must be freezing? Is all of Russia freezing or something?) Not sure about the recent patch, but before the hotfix I felt like the wicked witch from the west. -

This is the kind of asshole harassment I'm talking about. You immediately assume that, because I tell someone to grow up, I want DayZ to be easier. There is nothing further from the truth. DayZ is exactly what it needs to be, a total playground for people to express their social selves in a zombie apocalyptic environment with no rules and total sense of helplessness as you struggle just to survive. In truth, it's TOO easy right now, take firing a gun for instance: The aggro range of the pistols are far too small for as loud as they sound. If I can hear them, the zombies should hear them. Here's the problem: Games are not hardcore, difficult, whatever, they simply appeal to people more. It's a niche that all players need to fill and one that I'm comfortably settling into right now. I just believe that we, as grown adults, can be more believing of people outside of the game (because in there, it's Hell, live it) and point them to the mods they actually want, without the almost racist sounding discrimination just because they don't like our game type.

Can't you just say "everyone less than me is a pussy" like everyone else? You sound like a total douchebag when you think everyone that doesn't like magic zombies is an imaginary character that likes tree hugging and rainbows. You basically told people "if you're not man enough to play my mod, you're a pansy, go uninstall and play something else, like a kids game." Right, because real men make fun of people to feel important. Grow up rocket, the world is watching you. You're not a politician, you're a gamer, and you're above such low-life namecalling as "carebear." There are co-op mods out there, and telling people to get bent just because they don't have fun the way you do is gamer harassment at its finest. Just because you THINK you're some kind of macho hardcore nerd for making a mod that punishes players constantly does not give you the right to say "everyone that doesn't like my game is a carebear pussy" In short, keep the zombies hard because we want it, but namecalling is childish and uncalled for at best, and is downright appalling as a public statement.

To the Bandit trio that got me in the red apartments in Cherno: I heard you guys coming and ran upstairs. I proned with my M1911, ready to kill whoever came through the door. Unbeknownst to me, the door was my downfall. As your first two door breachers came barreling in, I lined up the best headshot I could get on the one that was looking at me and fired. and fired and fired more. My bullets all skipped on the floor in front of me, hitting the invisible barrier on the door. Your shots fared no better the first time, as aiming for my head did nothing but hit said invisible barrier. One of your shots nailed me and made me pass out, and you tried looting me. You should probably make sure your targets are dead before looting, as I got one, maybe even two of you, before being finished off. Yet still, that moment as we all shot at each other and have them hit the invisible barrier right in my eyes was a moment of awkwardness I will never forget, and I will never fire while prone again, unless it's downhill. So to that, I raise a can of beans and propose a toast: To the awkward moments, may they never cease to remind us that this is the Alpha mod of a buggy game.

How to make Survivors trust you?
Virfortis replied to matheusvltt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Soon the bandit skin will dissapear, but I've gotten away by telling people I'm not a Bandit, I'm an adventurer, and I'll gladly lead people through the woods to a fort where I saw a map. -
Naming and Shaming "Tianity" and his stream
Virfortis replied to RickyRio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That would suck for the many other survivors that disconnect (read: 5 minute AFK) and don't know they're being stalked/shot at. Like me, earlier today, but I didn't die when I came back and wasn't warned because they never shot at me. -
Logging in next to other users
Virfortis replied to zanderflex's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I logged in on a Bandit who was camping on the roof in Rog. I kinda felt bad when I shot him, I felt sad because he never saw me... But he dropped an AK, so I felt happy again...but then it got lost as I tried to store it so I felt sad again... But then I found more CZ ammo and was happy =D Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to code for I bet, and the odds of it happening are much more rare than you believe (though personal experience says otherwise). -
Scoreboard/Points System/Hrs Survived
Virfortis replied to S1ippery Jim's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A stats page that displays when you die would be perfect. However: It needs to be totally personal. The moment we throw leaderboards back into the equation, we teach players certain goals to the game that they will ingrain into their minds. Camping out in Rog to get the highest survival time anyone? How about server-teleporting to keep most days survived? Goals and achievements should be a personal matter, not a public display of "honor" for the top 3, and humiliation for the others.
