Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

Hopefully, when we get bicycles, you can have a few laughs biking to places as a medic. I would pay to see that. Pay with my blood... You know...cause I got shot...
  2. Sounds like an easy Bandit target to me, but hell you guys want some help? I could setup in the woods where your team is venerable, maybe set me up with a rifle and the like? Do we have a VOIP setup?

Technically, you can examine a body, but in the time it takes for someone to "analyze" it properly, they could be sniper bait. Also, let's be honest, all you would really know is "was killed by rifle, pistol, or shotgun round" and pretty much everyone uses the same kind of weapons. There's nothing unique enough to make it a plausible feature that I can think of.

    Is This A Glitch?

This is an idea, someone stop me if it's an exploit: Delete your player profile and start again. I suppose the server may log you via your name and keep you in the same spot, but I rather doubt that because profiles can be easily renamed.

I kinda doubt you're talking to me, but just in case, I'm being patient. See? I'm going to sleep right now...and I probably won't be on the forums tomorrow. I might check Monday and see how things are doing, but I'm being patient.

Have you ever been reminded to take out the trash, constantly, even though you knew it had to be done, yet they wouldn't shut up until it's done? That'd be Rocket's situation right now. The problem is obvious, but the fixes need more thought. The game could greatly benefit from reducing the amount of ammunition that spawns, as it only takes 1-2 bullets to kill, but then Bandit RDMers that are in a clan can just cycle loot and wrack up stuff, so the reduced loot would do nothing more than stop people from going gung-ho with a Makarov. This wouldn't actually stop the RDM issue. We all just need to keep thinking about ideas and plans until we figure out a good one. This I know though: loot cycling needs to be stopped. Loot tables are a mechanic, but maybe there's some way to degrade the level of what drops over time? Dark Age of Camelot has a "camp" bonus. Killing monsters that have been alive for a long time gives a lot more EXP than killing monsters everyone camps. This leads to players finding a group of mobs, clearing them out, and moving on. Perhaps we need to do the same with loot? Obviously, if a place is being raided more often, it would be harder to find good things. No, I don't know how to make it happen in game, I'm sorry. Maybe someone can take-off from here?

today in nz time =/= today in american time its 4:30pm in nz right now so theres a good 6-8 hours left :) I think we're all missing something: Rocket goes to 4chan?
  9. Someone really needs to define "carebear" once and for all, because it sounds more like an insult than anything. When people use it as a general term, "survivor" works even better given context, but it's used more as an insult than anything.

And rocket said: "let there be cake" And behold, there was cake, for him only...seriously guys we all knew this joke was inevitable... EDIT: Getting downrepped for a joke, gee THIS is sounding familiar! Obviously SOME people can't take a joke. The fact that I get downvoted for a joke is irony at its finest, all things considered. And yet, the only thing you learn at the end of the day is that the only way to truly survive is to join a clan to join a clan, you have to be a bandit to be a bandit, you have to be good at killing other players to be good at killing other players, you have to be good at random deathmatches. So the lesson of DayZ as is: When everything goes to shit, join a gang of bandits.
  12. This "I'm better than you" BS is what kills the hardcore. Nobody likes an elitist. You're good at games? Good for you. You have a bunch of resources to pool together and mobilize whenever you want. You're over-geared and essentially at "end-game" as far as can be concerned. You aren't exactly looking for players to recruit, just people to make fun of and snipe when you see them while acting like you're a better man for it. The only thing left for you to do is kill people with overbearing force. Clearly the smarter person would not out-think you, as you can still outgun them, but would rather avoid playing on your server. No offense intended, you obviously have more gear than me and thus, by correlation, have an ego bigger than mine, but I would rather not be on the same server as you because you are totally decked out and I'm doing good to find a Winchester before some sniper with NVGs pops out and snipes me for a can of beans. The reason Bandits seem so organized is that all the good clans are mass bandit, anti-survivor gangs. That's all. So it boils down to this: Join a gang, or try to survive on your own. It's not really a "survival" game anymore, just turf wars.

You make this same assertion everywhere you go' date=' you never stop to justify it and it's demonstrably not true, but you keep making it... I've already explained the problems in your Moral Effect Theory thread, so I'm not going to get into it again, except to say you're just wrong. --- I'm currently on my 3rd day alive; I have 140ish zombie kills, zero murders and two bandit kills... I've made multiple trips to the NW Airfield and Stary Sobor military camp, repaired a car, lost a car, gotten into gunfights and almost always retreated instead of trying to be a hero, been stalked by a pair of bandits and escaped, made numerous trips back to Elektro and Cherno to help get newbies out of the hotzone and kitted out (generally in Zelenogorsk or Berenzino). I am a good guy. I'm not a carebear, I'm not hiding in the woods living off wild game (ok, I did for an afternoon but it got boring). There are many like me, I've worked with them, shared resources, come to each others aid despite being complete strangers, and been shot in the back twice for the trouble. I've maintained an ethical approach to this game for the simple reason that it's [b']more of a challenge, and gives me more personal satisfaction. That's not true of everyone, which is frakking brilliant, and I sure as hell don't want it to be imposed on anyone, because that would only devalue it for me. The harder this game gets, and the more people turn to easy PKing, the more I'm loving the hell out of it, and the more I wish whiners would suck it up and stop -demanding- that the universe be fair to them; because they might actually get their way and ruin the experience in the process. Here's your problem: You think this is how it is for everyone. For every one of you, there are currently around 100 others that say "it's a game, kill people" People just don't do that anymore, they don't set their own code and expect to be handheld (I.E. the government tell them what to do) so when this anti-game came along, people had no clue what to do. If you're a pioneer of how the game should be played, teach others, don't flame them and wish you could make them go die.

WTF is happening to the server community.

Great, applaud-able idea, but to quote the cliche: This is the internet. Furthermore, this is a mod, for a game, about killing people. You can have tactical thought, plenty of planning, but you expect people to think and feel real emotions? There's not enough people to try that. That said, this post made me do a complete turn around and I realized: We're a lot alike. I would LOVE for players to think and feel while playing DayZ, and there are clearly a small number that do. Heck, I tried to do so myself. THIS is what people have been asking: What do you want? This right here, rocket, this is what you want. A game for people to feel emotions. Perhaps what you want is roleplaying servers, but in the spirit of DayZ, sort of like STALKER? I am curious about this. This COULD, if done right, be an amazing project, but only if the community as a whole pulls together. What I think you're looking for is a way to get the players to think and feel, to treat their lives in-gamewith the same value they treat their own lives. That can be accomplished by pushing and hyping up the "role-playing" aspect of DayZ. It's not an in-game mechanic, just ask servers to consider switching to RP systems. Maybe just start setting the tone by saying something along the lines of "DayZ is a game that requires players to create their own story. If you're not interacting with others and just shooting them, you're doing it wrong." It would make players think, sure, but I can see why my idea is impossible at best.

Love the fanboy shot here, as clearly being tired of CoD style griefers means you're a wuss. Those are the only two people in the world, obviously. This just needs to be on the FAQ. Do you want random deathmatches? Do you want just another deathmatch game with persistent progress and a slight threat of infection? If so then say so, I was under the impression you wanted a survival game that has a threat other than players. I sort of guessed something new. I think that the "zombie" part of this game has been more or less hyped up by the media, which isn't your fault, but you just need to come out and say it's not about zombies, it's about surviving people who do what they want. In other words, the line needs to be in the sand. When the lines are drawn and we know EXACTLY what you want, we can all move on. Just say what you want, and go from there, the solution will fall in place in time. Come on man, we're all trying to help out, but make up your mind and tell everyone else what you want, otherwise this is going to keep happening. You don't have to fanboy over someone because they post an idea that could make the game easier, just keep an eye out for the good ones.

For the love of Talos, please define just what "mechanics" are and how they can be separate from ideas. Unfortunately, we are gamers, not modders. It is because you are the developer that we support you, even if we know not what magic you work. You can say that if we don't know about mechanics, not to give ideas, I suppose. Adding more low tier loot? I don't see how that's a "wishy-washy" idea, even if it's been said before. Do we need to reach out and pull a mechanic from somewhere as a model? There is, unfortunately, no system working that tones down on deathmatching but supports open player killing. Even if there was, it would cut down on the difficulty in DayZ, something none of us want. You say you want mechanics, but many miss the mark because they do not know what mechanics are. I can SAY to mark players with high kills by increasing the amount of aggro they receive. Do I know exactly how to implement it? No, because I don't know how the internal components of the game works. Maybe a threat meter? It's still an idea.

WTF is happening to the server community.

(Disclaimer: The poster believes fully that there are exceptions to every rule, but to avoid the point being watered down by disclaimers every 2 sentences, bear in mind that broad generalizations are made. There are still people that care about survival, or clearly this thread would have not been made) Anti-carebear mentality drove the game to a total deathmatch. The elitists gang-downrepped me to hell and gone when I said we need to lighten up on the anti-carebear shit and look what happened. The elitists ran off the sociable side of the community with flaming and trolling, and we let them because we thought that's all part of the game. Sure, someone whining the game was too hard was annoying, but advice was what they needed, not to be drawn and quartered. Now we're (mostly) left with players that love to player kill, not cooperate ala survival and working together. Nowadays, anyone that wants to team up and work together is labelled a carebear and pretty much griefed by the community. The harassment drove the social people away, and now DayZ pays the price by being less about survival, and more about killing each other. Now they left, and all that's left are bean targets or Bandits that deathmatch for fun. Sorry if you're the minority that's still holding out, I feel for you, and as for what rocket said? Unless we can start banning RDMers, it won't change. Unfortunately, to rid the game of killing each other kills the entire point of the game (It's part of survival, I agree) and the fear for your life carries very little weight when you can respawn and head to Zelen or Krasno to stock up. You can downvote me for saying this all you want, you can claim I'm a carebear when in reality, I want the game to be harder, but you can't deny that social interaction occurs either here on the forums or pre-made clans, but never actually in-game. This is your pure zombie survival apocalypse game with full open PvP and no whiners trying to make the game easier, or spread any kind of goodwill in order to bring the community together. This is the hardcore only, balls out game that everyone wanted. It's total anarchy with no consequences, even to personal life, and a total lack of "carebear" balance. This is what you asked for, but it's not what you really wanted. I said before on another game forum that PvP was a dominant trait, and this is exactly what I was talking about. Yes, rocket has an awesome idea, but we unfortunately lack the community to keep it the vision he wanted. Whether we return to that vision or not is simply a matter of time. You really do have nobody to blame but the vocal minority this time. My solution would be to make the mere thought of firing a gun a heavy factor. Greatly increase the gun-aggro radius, heavily increase the damage infected do, and SERIOUSLY pump up the number of infected within 200m of large towns. That's an idea, it's been said before, but it kinda does need to be said again.
