This is the MOST antisocial game ever
Virfortis replied to jani.ehro@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Elitists & Gamers demand something more than a generic, brown FPS. This argument basically: Rocket comes out with exactly what both Elitists & Gamers want. Elitists treat it like a generic, brown FPS. Gamers try to force them to try something creative Elitists get defensive and label everyone carebears and swear up and down that they're trying to make the game easier. Repeat last three steps in an infinite loop. Welcome to DayZ: The most inventive, creative, free survival FPS abused and brought down by the worst people in the gaming society. Feel free to shoot anyone for imaginary points, just like every other FPS. -
Basically done with this game for now. Sadly, it's just a slow paced deathmatch.

You didn't ask why I'm angry in a clear, concise, and decent tone. -
1. Incorrect' date=' I just stated people who are quitting should give it a shot because it can be a blast. 2. Most if not all posts of people quitting have to do with either the PVP aspect or they cant kill zombies. So yes, Babys. [/quote'] Because ALL this game is about is PvP. /thread /game /life right? Jeez, no wonder we're getting another Call of Duty...if people can't branch out beyond 4chan level intelligence when given freedom.

Server Named "Non-PVP DayZ...If player is murdered, you are kicked!"
Virfortis replied to PricelineNegotiator (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Honestly? I wouldn't be surprised if someone branched off and made PvE only servers. Yeah it would suck after a few hours and get boring, but it certainly beats what we have now in 9/10 social interactions. -
It's a real pain in the ass.

I think you need to stop and realize that DayZ is nothing BUT PvP, zombies and survival aren't even a minimal threat, they're NOTHING. This isn't a PvP Zombie Survival Mod, it's just another ArmA2 mod. Time will fix that. What will you do when the consequences hit? Because Rocket has always said he wants consequences (not arbitration/forcing players) to certain activities. I've heard it best from another player today. "I don't want my debug monitor to go away because I want to know when I killed so I can wrack up more points." That shit needs to go, yesterday. As long as kills are anything anyone cares about, we're no different than an IO survival Battlefield. When Rcoket's done, I can guarantee the same people now bashing "EZ mode" players are going to be up in arms for Rocket adding "carebear fluff" to the game because they don't want reality or hard choices, just shooting. -
Wait, what changed again?
-
Yes, but then those trolls can be hunted down and dealt with instead of just magically teleporting elsewhere so they can spawn/hack items or just go to their duped tents. This also needs to apply to DCing, but I hear Rocket is already fixing that. I hit 3 guys today, all of them DCed as soon as they were hit. I'm still not a crack shot, so headshots aren't quite second nature. Also, anyone that can't tell PvP from NFG Mode (No fucks given, total deathmatch) is too busy camping and giving PvP a bad name.

Every time you post on this topic' date=' you're sure Rocket is going to start penalizing players for engaging in PVP. I sure as hell hope you're wrong because that goes against the idea of a sandbox entirely. [/quote'] So does abusing the respawn function, using that as an excuse to kill everyone like an on-rail shooter, but you don't seem to be against that. -
When you sleep with dogs, don't wonder why you wake up with fleas. Wanting to arm citizens against the apocalypse is cool and all, but then you also have to anticipate just how mindless the community is right now. I fear it will take a literal intervention by rocket to tell people to actually try and give a shit about their character. Respawning makes living pointless. Reality has no respawns, which is why we have the sanctity of life. I'm still working on my idea: Kick players that die. They could easily go and join another server, but they would be completely gone from YOUR world, which might lend just a little more weight to dying because you would leave that world and join another. It's a work in progress idea.

Go get scratched by a zombie, you literally bleed gallons per second, it's kinda comical.

DayZ will never achieve social interaction because it is built on allowing players to do what they want in a chat room where they have a gun. I'm sorry to say, I used to believe that community was the reason DayZ had gone to shit, but the truth of it is that it's the simple fact that DayZ is an FPS that makes it lack what gamers want. There's a very similar situation in a little browser based game called Sherwood Forest (Maid Marian Games) where it was a "global" chat room and you could team up to fight monsters. You get on nowadays, there's tons of features and even a dungeon system, but nobody does much chatting...they just try to kill people who are a different color (I.E. not in your group). You can say it's part of the game, but then it's not really a game is it? A game is something people play for entertainment...and very few people find pop-up shooting galleries fun when they're over 20. It simple, when players (can't call them gamers really) are put in an environment where they CAN kill people, they WILL. This is because they've been conditioned over the years that killing is "what is best in life" and think that's the only thing there is. They lack even the basic desire for social interaction. -

Virfortis replied to PricelineNegotiator (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
If the server is not connected to the HIVE then they're doing nothing that affects the game. What they're doing, even if rocket blacklists them, is totally legal. I personally don't see why people can't host co-op servers with no saving once the game goes live. Oh right, that's what minecraft did... -

Have you ever actually timed how long it takes to get inland? Yes, my FIRST THING TO DO is run inland. It takes me a grand total of 10 minutes to get fully and completely away from the coast, but then what? At that point, I'm totally by myself and playing basically Armory in the woods with challenges turned off. DayZ without the players is pointless, but with the players just means killing each other, so again...pointless. I can kill people all I want to on the ACE mod, or ArmA2, or even EVERY other FPS out there...what makes DayZ different right now? Let's not forget that if someone wants to take over a city, it needs to be in a place that actually makes sense. There's no point in taking over Guglovo...I mean really? I guess Vybor would make sense, but then you face the same issue with bandits flooding the place in infinite waves. -
The gist of this thread: 1. You need already established out of game cliques to have fun. 2. Anyone that wanted more than a standard FPS with NFG mode disabled is apparently a baby.

Oh God...don't remind me :dodgy: But like you said, it boils down to practice. Good luck with your meaningful death though...that might take time.

There's a game for this, it's called EVE online, go play it. And take your fantasy of what real gamers are with you. Real gamers don't thrive on kills for kicks, they actually live and work in the world. Clearly you just want people happy so you can grief them. It's the "WAH! Carebears tryign tot ake all the fun!" bullshit that kills games. -

DayZ, in its current form, is not worth the investment. First, it's in an Alpha stage where things are very buggy and lack any real direction. There's no end-game content or re-playability because it's still being ironed out on the technical level. Perhaps later in the year there will be more, and I'm waiting patiently, but right now is not that time. Second, the community has yet to mature. We have yet to weed out the more undesirable parts of the community and many players play it as just any other FPS. Until we push forward and make a stand against this "Disregard thought, shoot players!" system, it will continue to degrade. Of course, we also lack point #1, so it's pointless to push for anything at the moment. Third, $30 is a lot to front for a mod, and you may (big maybe) get attatched to the mod. This is NOT a good idea, as it will soon undergo some large changes that is likely to split the community down the middle (you know, content and stuff for players to do besides deathmatching, which is all "carebear fluff" to some). So, no I do not think DayZ is worth the investment right now. In the future? Maybe. I certainly see Steam having a large sale on it at the end of the year, so I recommend waiting until them. I certainly HOPE it's worth the investment later on, but ultimately only time will tell.

There's a very big difference between someone that plays CoD, and someone that enjoys military games. The kid in question sounds more like the latter. When I speak of the "CoD kiddie" I'm referring to what made CoD a cash cow. I think we can all agree that (though this is old hat by now) CoD 1/2/4 were good, but after that things began to take a nose-dive. I'm not talking about people that get on and play it for the experience, I'm talking about the people that want nothing more than "a combination shooting-gallery, and nothing else" (Game Overthinker, Episode 45). If someone says they play a lot of CoD, and then turns around and enjoys ArmA3, I would be happy (surprised, but happy). But when I think about what kills the whole concept of DayZ being a game where you care about your character, I think about the people touting the "No fucks given" mode. I think about this: And really, why shouldn't I think that after dealing with the trolls? They're certainly the most vocal, and claim to represent the game as a whole, so where is the other voice for us to sit there and say "no, these are the real DayZ enthusiasts." -
Uh-huh...and this is different from normal FPS games...how? NFG Mode is the same everywhere you go. Try giving a shit and actually play DayZ as DayZ, not IO Battlefield with loot drops. We come to DayZ for something different, something more substantial than run around and shoot people. I will say this though: I'm going to start calling random deathmatching the NFG Mode...that's a good one.
