Hi, So all those cows, goats, pigs and chickens lived on a farm once? The infection has turned their owners, and they have turned back to a wild life. Simply living off the land. Instead of simply shooting and gutting them, why not have a mouse scroll action that is "Domesticate"? This idea would have benefits and consequences. If the "Domestication" was successful, out of a random selection of outcomes, you now have a animal which would follow you. You could lead it to a barn, camp or take to the woods, arrive safely and stock up on them. If the domestication was to fail, a random act would occur: - Nothing, ignores you and continues - sprints away, no baying... - freaks out, lots of baying. Shoot to shut it up. Give away location to potential players in area, attract infected like a gunshot? Run away or commit to shoot and gut like normal. You expose yourself to danger in a field while carrying out the action. - Fight or flight, it rams you. You take X amount of damage. Chickens would just fly away. A cow or bull could mess you up badly. Would be a one time action by the animal, the domesticate fails for X time (cool down) and the animal ignores you. Now shoot and gut is your only option. I thought of this idea today while running along the coast to Cherno after a new spawn. On the hill to my left was two goats. I didn't have a knife and or matches. Getting to Cherno and finding required loot is time consuming and must be done quickly to avoid danger. Getting back to goats safely and in same area is hard. If you could domesticate, the animal would follow you, you could leave it at a safe location "stay" command, or a similar bandage action signifying tying animal to post in ground (need rope in game?). You could the return with knife and matches after surving the looting and kill / gut your animal and then move on. People could steal you domesticated animals. You have your few cows and pigs and bandits come along, kill you and steal your meats. Lead an animal to your group and share the meaty wealth? I think something like this would work well with the Horse idea / suggestion already posted in this forum. --------- Where's the dogs? A dog or pack of dogs would revert, over time, back to wild tendencies. A single dog mighty turn tame once seeing a survivor. An owner again for company and companionship. A pack would be feral and aggressive. Almost like infected now, similar detection range though heighten sound pick up. Domesticate would change to "Tame", the dog accepts you as master. The action could fail: - Ignores you, carries on and not interested. - growls, could lead to attack. - interested though 1) attacks or 2) accepts - instant attack, barking and attracts infected. - tamed, now he or she is your companion. The dog will protect, growling in direction of potential risk such as infected or players. Like peripheral dots system. The dog would have a range of detection. If player or infected attacks the dog attacks them. A take down action could occur, the attacker is pinned by the dog (prone position?) for X time and you deliver killer blow? The dog can be healed, give meat, bandage and morphined. You'd have a icon of the dog, similar to human player blood icon. It flashes when dog is bleeding, when low dog is lame. Waste medical resources or keep your new pal alive. Or eat it for meat? Could the dog carry items or a pack which items you could put in it. ---------- I hope these ideas simulate disscussion and comments. I'm not a programmer, these might require a heap of coding and design, therefore impractical. Thanks anyway.

Remove all US/NATO weapons? This game is based a post soviet nation, so russian & soviet weapons would be common place? NATO weapons seem out of place. Especially finding them in barracks and camps around the countryside. A post soviet country wouldn't have those established weapon caches. I don't know the back story for Arma 2 and OA. That may explain the NATO weapons. Maybe explainable by NATO forces coming into help clear up the infection, in the DayZ world. I'd like to see more or most soviet and modern russian weapons in the stand alone game. I've compiled a list, I know some are in the DayZ mod are in ArmA 2 and OA, some will need development. That would have been epic to have seen that happen. They were all probably butt hurt after getting all the vehicles together and following some coherent plan. Probably on their way back to their "secret base". Were you screaming over direct or side chat when diving bombing them? Should of ejected and watch the fireworks! -

Anybody suggested diesel portal generator or towable generators? Like the ones on construction sites. Use it to power houses or a towable one which has lights to light up a camp. You need fuel and they can be repairable with all the current parts available. light up your tent camp, or a field hospital or power a house. Zombie and Bandit bate. But cool for building groups and safe spots with light at night. -
I like this idea. Drag a few wrecks and block off a street or block. Now you have a safe zone with guarded entry and exits. Then as a group you loot and take it back to your safe zone and store it in tents or houses. Set up a distribution to New players? Zombies should still spawn as normal but outside the area and wander towards the concentrated human populace. Eventually a rabid horde could randomly attack. This could be triggered by the amount of players in a local area for a set time. Server triggers event, extreme aggro Zombies spawn and attack safe zone. Players defend or die, sneaky players could nick food and supplies and do a bunk during the zombie attack, leaving bewildered ex-mates behind. Other groups and bandits could attack. A smoke grenade into the safe zone would drive zombies into it. M203 and hand frags to break through the wrecks. Seems cool to me. Oh to dream...

So I'm back in DayZ. Got a nice surprise that I still have all my gear.Thought I start on the beach as a new survivor. Got a 870 shotgun with flashlight and M1911, food, water and medical supplies. Spent about 5 minutes getting used to the controls again, when myself and the 15 other people on the server get teleported all to the same location. I appear on top of two dead survivors, some bandit is shooting his AK. Quick reaction, shot him with my M1911. Does nothing, must be on god mode. I just legged it the same as everyone else. Zombies everywhere. Did a raid on Cherno hospital, 5 blood bags, pain killers and morphine later I run to sniper hill. Get way and start heading North west. A lot of people were dying quickly on this server in quick succession in Cherno. AK fire was everywhere. A lot of fun in 30 minutes.

Sorry if already suggested, haven't looked through the entire thread. - Items should have weight. Therefore your restricted on your ability to carry multiple items. At the moment in the mod you can put a car tire / wheel in your backpack and it doesn't worry your ability to run / sprint. Each item shouldn't be limited by a number, example the coyote pack can hold sixteen items. A "coyote" or backpack in real life can carry way more. Backpacks and utility jacks or coats should have a pocket count and an overall weight limit. The "Coyote" can hold 10 kilos in weight. And the average human player should be able to carry at least half their own body weight, up to the same as their body weight though lose the ability to jog, run or sprint. - Weight should affect your endurance / stamina. If your light with your gear then you can run for a bit longer, start loading up items and you get weighed down. - Body armour / Bullet proof vests. If the military or police are around then you should be able to lot military kevlar / steel plate jackets, helmets or thigh protectors. Police would be stab proof vests or kevlar / riot gear style get up. - Single bullets, packs of bullets, magazines of bullets and clips of bullets. At the moment it's annoying in the mod when you have a M1911 .45 ACP pistol and you fine .45 ACP revolver ammo and it's not interchangeable. It's the same caliber. The image for the .45 ACP revolver ammo in game seems to be a faster auto reloader for the revolver itself. These and clips / magazines would offer faster reloading then single bullets and packs of bullets. - Smoking cigarettes calms your nerves though affects you endurance. Helps with shock / pain. - Alcohol calms your nerves, make you less prone to pain and shock though affects you aim and ability to run. Just a few so far. I'll have more as I think of them. -
Hi All, I want to get back into DayZ. Last time I updated my DayZ files was when the file version were in 1.6.X series and I also was required to update the ArmA II to a beta executable. I think this was due to the gamma / brightness exploiters at night and the beta fixed / addressed that an improve things needed for 1.6.X series update. I see Alpha 1.7.2.6 is now available, do I need to do anything else to my Steam or base ArmA II files to get 1.7.2.6 going? Thanks GENDERS

FrankieonPCin1080p and JackFrags are my favorite two. Watched all of Frankies series recently. He's got a great following and guys and gals have fits of hysteria when they realise it's him they're running with. Also a shout out to SdeStrafe as well. -
Game purchase - One off fee to buy the game out right. Patches for said game must be free, i.e. fixing bugs, balancing weapons / damage, textures...etc... Yeah, the ArmA engine is a little buggy. I'm sure I've seen a guy post a Youtube video of him and a mate getting almost burnt to death from their bike exploding on a rock...at about 5mph...

More Z skins would be cool. The Cities you get more suits and skirts which are you office workers. Some kid Zombies would be cool. Dogs as well. Police, firemen and riot gear (armour) guys around the outskirts of towns. They were trying to "keep the peace" when shit hit the fan. Nurses and doctors from hospitals, either wearing their blue / pink overalls for surgery or their white coats. I've seen a Priest, what about Zombie Nuns chasing along behind him...The religious nuts thought God and faith would protect them... Near factories and warehouses you get your construction workers and dungarees / overalls. Military installations you have your military garbed guys with or without helmets / armour depending on they're roles. Out in the small towns I'd imagine you'd have you checker shirt lumberjack type guys. I still like the Walkers, Hoppers and Crawlers. Adding in some Shufflers who can't chase you down would balance it more. At the moment every Walker can sprint and that's all of them. As to the Zombies climbing ladders, I say bullshit, come on...really...they've dead yet they have the intelligence and hand eye coordination to climb up a ladder?

I'm killing all players on site now. Last night I committed suicide again because I was in the middle of no where with nothing and a whole heap of grief on me. Upon re-spawn I think I was in Elektro. I aggroed some Zombies and bolted to the centre of the town into a large grey multi storey building, think it's the school in the centre? With several Zombies on my arse I get to the top of the building and find all the loot a barricaded survivor needs. Found a Leeroy Enfield, dinner bell some call it, and started my stand...I killed 35 Zombies as they came up the stairs or up the ladders. In side chat people were saying: "I hear gun fire", "Friendly on roof of school", "Wow something's going down in Elektro", I felt quite happy at this. So the bullshit factor hits 100% percent when the dead start climbing ladders...how and why I don't know...and clipping is still a major issue. I spent an hour in that building. The dinner bell is a one hit kill for Zombies, but it's like a magnet because of it. I fell from the 1st floor onto the ground and go into shock, I run across the street into a hotel, I hide and proceed to get battered by Zombies through the wall...my leg gets broken and I'm crawling and popping them with my Makarovo...I decided to quickly disconnect at 5k blood. I reconnect and it's night, I still have a broken leg, though I'm alive and I have all my gear. I crawl back into my school. I should have left it there, though I hear people shooting and I'm reading a guy call [PCPP]PhotoshopPro (I think) is killing / stalking / jeering survivors for their gear...I holed up in a ground floor room and hear foot steps, I prepare for a shoot out and get shot in the back of the head through a window... Get back into the server again as I'd like to find the guy and try and kill him. I've found a knife and a hand grenade. I am liking this game very much and don't mind the PvP or dying.

I've launched ArmA II and tried the Helicopter tutorials. It's a lot harder then BF3! Once I've got it though it should be easy. Though I need to find a chopper now... Try out the tutorials - Attack Helicopter / Transporter Helicopter

For new players: 1) Never pick up a pistol that you don't have a lot of ammunition for. I had a Makarovo with 8 magazines. OK, not the best gun, but at least I had ammo. I found a M1911, cool, I pick it up, I lose my Makarovo and the 8 magazine, now I have a M1911 and no ammo and my Makarovo has disappeared from the game and there's no ammo laying around for the M1911. Bollocks. This maybe a mod bug? 2) When you have a nice amount of loot, don't, don't go swimming in the sea, lakes or rivers. So now I have a Winchester and my empty M1911. I was out as far west as you could go. I was by myself for hours. Some how I'd triggered the local dead residents interest, they proceed to chase me out of their town. I bolt for it, Benny Hill music is playing over and over in my head as I run for it. I proceed to dive off a small wooden dock into the sea, I'm safe, excellent. All the local dead residents looking at me with disdain, they can't swim. Cool, I swim away to relative safety. Again, bollocks, apparently the sea eats you back pack and all it's contents, also you Winchester and it's ammo and leaves you with an empty M1911, a watch and a compass. No bandages, no food, no ammo, no water...fuck. 3) You can never lose a Zombies interest in you. Now after finding out I have nothing and I'm now freezing, I get myself on land and start to run for it. Now though I'm shivering with cold, I have two Zombies on my tail and I have no where to go. Again Benny Hill music is playing, I run to two bridges for the road and railway. I proceed to figure 8 over and under the bridges trying to confuse the Zombies. Doesn't work, one clever dead bastard comes the other way. So I improvise and get to the railway bridge and prone, they start beating the shit out of me, I crawl under it and get away. They stand howling at me... I'm safe, I think, until I press the G button to look at my gear. I'd thought I take stock of what I have remaining. My character proceeds to try and stand up in a space about 2 and a half feet high and quickly breaks his neck, back and legs and instantly dies...from 9000 blood to instant dead. I heard the positive death feed back as my body breaks and folds in two...bollocks...

Things I have since learnt ArmA II physic engine will KILL YOU... Tried to crawl between a fence and a chicken coop. Some how, for some reason, broken my whole body...when from 12k blood to 3k blood, was shaking, screen blurring and gushing blood. Bandage, morphine and a few tins of bean, pasta and sardines later...sort of OK at just over 4k blood... What the hell... Get somewhere safe and disconnect.
