    Can't join servers.

Yep, that's it mate. That's what I did and I'm happily playing away. If you listened to me could you please add some reputation to me? Click the green 1 in my post, top right, then click the RATE user on the top left when it loads. Cheers, AND WELECOME TO CHERNARUS...mind your beans.
  2. OK, not sure if this has been mentioned before. I did a quick search and only had one hit, which was buried in a long thread. Zombie Guts This is random, you kill a Zombie, you loot it, if you have a knife you can remove it guts. You can wear the guts for X minutes and not aggro the zombies. But if you run, shoot or walk into a Zombie, all bets are off... Zombie Distraction Does road flares do this already? I've seen them in a video go nuts over a camp fire in a field. A device you can craft, road flare + some sort of loud device, you throw it. Zombies go mega nuts, chase it, it lasts X moments. But they are mega, mega aggro'ed. Maybe too gamey? All comments and critiques welcomed.

    Zombie Guts / Distraction

Blood should make them go bat shit insane.

    Zombie Guts / Distraction

Whiskey Bottle, was does that do?
  5. I've seen this as well, I was being chased by Zombies and I ran towards a fellow player shouting over direct communications: "Shoot them, Shoot them, I'll help you..." as I ran past he was a standing aiming corpse with a Makarovo pointed to the sea with flies around him... Bugger...

You were kicked from the game!

OK, if you using Steam, close it down first. Make sure it's not in your task bar running. Go here: http://www.battleye.com/download.html Download the client and server update. Open your ArmA II and ArmA II:OA folders, open the Battleye folders and paste in the new DLL's for the site. Launch Steam Find ArmA II Operation Arrowed Head, right click and select "Launch ArmA II Combined Operations". See if you can connect now?

    Can't join servers.

Guys, I had the problem at the beginning as well when I got this. I'll post tonight when I get home.

    Can't join servers.

Hi, You have to make sure you have the Battleye folder present in both ArmAII and ArmAII OA folders. If it's not you'll be kicked from the servers. Unfortunately I'm at work, so I can't paste the exact paths for you. Also the Java version, I'd use a 32 bit version of Java just in case. http://filehippo.com/download_jre_32/

  10. NZ for me, any servers over 150 lag like crap... I've had 'interleaving' turned off on my line, so any AUS / NS server is below 50ms, some NZ servers are as low as 20ms. BF3, some are 10 to 12ms. I've only got 5 to 10 servers to choose from, have to be quicky quick with the clicky click to get a slot on a low ms server...
  11. It's not the direct comparison that you should be looking into' date=' but the fundamental argument behind it. In both cases, you are making use of something supplied by the game for a purpose that it clearly wasn't intended for. [b']As another poster in the thread said, you can also modify the brightness and gamma settings in your OS and monitor, are these not also 3rd party applications? While it's quite obvious that aim botting is unquestionably cheating, the fundamental construct behind it is not all that different from changing your brightness and gamma. In both cases, you are using something supplied by the game, potentially exacerbating its use through a third party, and using it in order to gain an edge over other players. ----- Are you serious? Seriously, Hacks which inject code into memory so that they fundamentally change the game in your favour is / are not the same as using the drivers and monitor settings to alter the set up of your display... A person or people that use hacks have maliciously made an effort to break the foundations of the game for basically LULZ...A person that alters their set up so that they can enjoy basically playing the game is completely different. If you want a compassion to this, check out BF3 'M26 DART GLITCH'. Basically a the game developer patched the game and people found out that with a certain weapon + accessory combination you had a instant kill weapon. This isn't a hack and it's available to everyone in the game, everyone who's played long enough to unlock the weapons need to use / abuse the glitch. Same as Gamma / Brightness is not a hack, everyone can choose to do it if they want to. Everyone has a right to free opinion and choice, though be ready to be challenged on that opinion and choice and defend with knowledge or fact or just leave...
  12. Reading through the forums it depends on your systems drivers and monitor as well. Depending on the combination of hardware and software it may / may not work.

For the love of DayZ, fix zombie pathing

Also clipping, if it's not already been done. Fix that. To be able to escape into a building and then see a Zombie walk through a wall...uggghhh
  14. GENDERS

Will zombies back off if you keep running?

No, you never can, which seems strange... Run to a barn or a warehouse. Got up the stairs in either and pop them in the head as they shuffle towards you. Don't jump in the sea, you lose everything.
  15. Yeah, right, try to find one of those as a brand new player to the ArmA II gaming engine + this mod + the darkness using a road flare and that person will learn, that after several frustrating deaths / re-spawns, day time servers are better for the steep learning curve. Plus Zombies at night are like homing missiles. How they can see you if you can't see them is beyond me. OK, they can hear you that surely doesn't mean they can pin point you exactly and chase you down unforgivably even if you sprint in any direction. Players start with a wind up torch?

    The things I have learnt...

Thanks all you lot, seems we have all similar experience. I've started keeping a note pad beside my desk while I play and writing down notes. My current play I decided to stick around the Cherno, I ran to the building site on the edge of town with the crane and fire. Yep, all the Zombies, they shuffle up those stair cases after me like blood hounds, even when I'm hidden and I can't see them they find me... Suggestion: I've seen this already mentioned - in game journals, something you could quickly jot down. Like - "Don't go swimming" and "You can't shake the walkers, crawlers and hoppers can". Maybe limited it to a mobile phone text of 160 characters. I could understand though that this could lead to stress on the servers DBs as hundreds or thousands of journals start appearing.
  17. Picture this scene... It's pitch black, you have a road flare though your not using it and don't want to risk it, zombies are near by, some how you disturb them as you hear them getting cranky. If you can't see anything because it's pitch black... HOW THE HELL does a zombie who's a re-animated corpse home in like a missile...seriously...they're dead, they can't have 20/20 perfect built in night vision... And if you're crouched and walking, not sprinting, not crouch running...just standing still yet you've aggroed the zombies...they home in like a missile and you're screwed... I've made them mistake only once at night.
  18. I agree, too complicated. You already die incredibly quickly to a few well placed shots.

Food and water being used offline

Now that I know it won't kill me. It's not a problem. Just have water, soda and some cans. All good.

Food and water being used offline

Thanks, Now when I reconnect, how do I deal with the horde I left outside of the warehouse that I got away from? Hopefully gone when I get back : - )

Has anyone test how long you can be logged out before dying? I left my guy yesterday in a small room of a 1st floor warehouse with water and two cans of beans.

    Player Revival

I think a head shot should be dead, dead...and being ripped to pieces by Zombies. Everything else should be revivable so teams / groups can actually help their teams mates from not dying and having to re-spawn miles away. Or, you can choose to spawn on a friend?
  23. Make sure both ArmA games on your C: drive have the Battleye folder present with the DLL files. http://www.battleye.com/download.html You need the client and server DLL, download and put them in the Battleye folder. Make a back up of the originals. I had this problem of being kicked back to the server lobby. Once I had Battleye in both ArmAII and Operation Arrow Head folders, all was OK!

    AI death squad

Sounds like a good idea. But it maybe too "gamey" for this type of project. You've already got "death squads" as such - THE BANDITS STEALING YOUR STUFF OR KILLING YOU FOR LULZ...lol... Neat idea though. You'd think the government would do a tidy up, like in 28 Weeks Later.
