[SA] or [MOD]: Move the HUD to your inventory screen
Hackettbear replied to BC_Hawke's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the concept, Metro 2033 used a similar system for its harder difficulty settings which allowed for easy-access to your HUD information without breaking immersion. Default Checking Watch Checking Journal I also had a slight knee-jerk reaction to the idea of being constantly messaged about my status, I'd prefer physically visual or audible updates to actual text. -
Thanks for the responses and suggestions, they're very much appreciated. I'm slowly adjusting to this game, it's very different from your average MoH/CoD FPS. It seems as if it focuses more upon placement and patience than even your capability to aim, because really it's all about survival, and if you got away from the encounter without killing them, well that's a victory anyways. I'm definitely enjoying myself.

Hello. Newby Day Z/Arma 2 player here. I'm curious as to how I could have handled a situation better and I was hoping for some tips. The Situation: Myself and three friends are grouped together around a vehicle. The vehicle is parked in the woods next to a road at the bottom of a steep hill. As friend #1 begins to refuel the vehicle, he's shot and instantly killed by what sounded like an AKM. Another shot and friend #2 is down bleeding with a broken leg. A third shot and I'm down in the same condition. As friend #3 jumps prone under a tree, I manage to crawl behind one myself that blocks vision from up the hill and quickly bandage myself, morphine, and eat the last of my steaks. Friend #2 calls for my help, he's still by the vehicle, unconscious and bleeding out. Friend #3 seems safe for the time being. Here's a map of where we were, the red circle represents our position, where the orange oval represents the general area in which I believed our shooter to be located. http://imgur.com/A99sG What I did: I didn't believe I could assist friend #2 without dying myself. I also believed the shooter to know my position, so I didn't want to risk edging out and attempting to scan the area with my binoculars. Friend #2 was nearing death and I felt I had to do something, anything, so I decided to book it across the road and act as a distraction whilst he woke up and bandaged himself. The shooter didn't take the bait, friend #2 is shot again and finally killed. At this point I'm across the road and had yet to take any fire, unsure if he had seen me or had been too distracted killing my friend to notice. My hearts racing and I'm looking around frantically as I proceed up the hill, trying to find him before he kills friend #3 and myself. As soon as I reach the area I assumed he was I hear the loudest shot yet, simultaneously confirming my suspicion and nearly causing me to shit my pants as I die. This is a map of the route I took after patching myself up. http://imgur.com/lHxQR I personally feel as if I wasn't patient enough, perhaps I should have left the entire area and spent more time attempting to flank him, I don't know. I wanted revenge for the death of my friends and I just wasn't completely thinking straight. What might you have done in this situation?
