LOL, killing another member or friend in your group is bad, how about killing your own son:) A few months back me and my son were playing, we were both fairly new to the game and were having a blast. We fresh spawned near Cherno, got fairly geared up and made our way into Elektro. We hit the normal loot spots and then we both went into the pub next to the market. We went upstairs, through each of the upstairs rooms then ended up in the far back room overlooking the market. We sat there for a few minutes, in the dark.... Someone spawned into that same room in the corner, we hear a mak fire a few rounds, one of them hit me, i returned fire then the player must have alt-f4's out. We were both a bit freaked out about this, we sat in that room proned for minutes staring at that corner for him to return... Should we leave, should we find another server... I said no, lets just stick it out here. I was having shakes and needed some painkillers so i slowly made by way up the hallway as i remember seeing painkillers spawned there which i passed on initially. Nick, my son, said he would throw a flare so we can see as we got out of there. I said OK, go ahead. Im in the hallway, he is in the room. I do not remember telling him i had already moved out of the room. He throws the fair, i start to make my way to the middle room when i hear nick freaking out, telling me there is someone else up here with us. I start to freak out, i see no one. By this time im in the middle room and nick is like 'i see him'. I turn around and i see him too. I unload my mak into him, he goes down... When i realize, the man i just killed was nick, my son, and it was me he was seeing. I did not keep nick informed on my position, and from that point on, i now make it a priority to know all my teammates positions and keep them informed on my own. Its to easy in this game to kill a teammate. I KNOW its only a game. BUT, i still felt like complete and total shit for killing him. I guarded his body like a boss waiting for him to make it back to get his stuff.

Hmmm, I really question if this IS allowed or not. Private servers, specifically most private servers including the one I have hosted at HFBServers are on a private hive. Unlike regular DayZ Server hosting you get full control over the servers config including password protecting it or not. They are even working on providing full root access to private server leases which even allows database manipulations, spawn control, etc. Since you are already disconnected from the public hive, I do not believe there is much that can be done to prevent this, outside of taking legal action against someone. I have another private hive server with 50 vehicle spawns, decent connection, etc that i would love to invite other regular players to join in on the fun. This is the one issue i have been questioning regarding posting here an invite.

Hmm, perhaps it does happen to everyone... I dont see it for everyone... Regardless, "When the files are actually missing, players are rejected and cannot join the game." Not true at all. I tested this on the latest update released on HFB, you can still log in, no trees, no bush, no plants, nothing. Besides looking like crap it just makes me not even want to play the game. --

Somewhat a rant and a quest for advice or more info... Myself, my children (older) and a few friends love Dayz, have since for some time now. We play so much we decided to get a server, set up a camp and enjoy the game. We did, for some time until it became apparent how much hacking , scripting and exploiting the game has suffered. I mean, its horrible. For example: 15:34:11 XXXX uses modified data file - AddOns\plants2_Bush.pbo 15:34:12 XXXX uses modified data file - AddOns\plants2_Clutter.pbo 15:34:12 XXXX uses modified data file - AddOns\plants2_misc.pbo 15:34:12 XXXX uses modified data file - AddOns\plants2_Plant.pbo The no plants/trees/etc exploit. 13 out of the last 20 users who logged into my server (today) were using this exploit. And server owners basically have no control over this that I am aware of. Or, at least at HFB servers they dont. You can do some things but there does not seem to be a way to force checks on these files and kick those that are taking advantage of the exploit. If my little serer which hardly sees any traffic is this bad, how big of a problem really exists. I cant tell you how many times i been snipped from deep within cover and I know now it was likely due to this no tree stuff. Not right. Now the other issue, the RightShipt-P, giving yourself items. That alone dont bother me as much but i would love to disable this on my server as well. I realize this is a Arma/Battleeye problem and not a dayz problem. But what can be done to aid against this kind of stuff? I am likely to just not renew my server because of this. So much for having a little legit fun. Thanks

Luckiest: After a very long haul up North to Stary, NW Airfield and two heli crashes I gear up with SVD Camo and a few mags, Rangefinder and M9SD plus various other goodies..... Unluckiest: A few days later I was counter sniping in Electro, just took out a sniper on sniper hill and was scoping out another player in town killing another survivor when I hear SWISH SWISH.. you know the sound of an Axe as it swings.. I go back into 3d view to see what that noise was and see a survivor swinging an axe at me. I passed out and died a moment later. LOL. Sucks but that is the game.

Here is what worked for me.. Launch Six launcher, no servers will show up... Click Launch, it will start arma 2. Then go to multiplayer and then remote, once you enter the IP and click OK the server now shows up. Doing this by launching arma 2 directly does not work for some reason (im assuming because of the command line Six uses to launch the game, even though i do have the dayz mod enabled). Also, i just restarted Six and it downloaded an update. Most servers now list but they all show 'BAD' protection.

Same thing here, enter IP and OK it, changes from LAN to the server IP but game does not show up....
