I learned how to do Arma2 server admin essentially by wrestling it to the ground. I now have a fantastic server with as little memory creep as I can manage, but it's not completely perfect. I'd be happy to help/accept help.

Hi Silver, We just updated to the beta patch. I'd try reinstalling DayZ with these: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2705492 and letting us know if the problem persists. My steam name is orikae and the dayz@mediumdifficulty.com address forwards to my personal email.

There's a bit of backend work required, so given how huge the server population boom is I've no doubt that they're thinking of a new/automated method. Keep the faith, be patient. I'd love to have them for my own server too & i'm getting tons of requests, but it's a volunteer staff and they have day jobs.

The server's been up for almost a week. Thread start =/= server start. I made sure it was running well & optimized it before making a thread here. I'm fine with either; it's really just the DOS commands that I have trouble with, because it's been years since I had to set an IRQ channel. e: also, Mojo, I'd love it if you split out your post and stickied it. I think there'll be a lot more threads like this one in the coming weeks.

That and "what server is this?" On that note, if someone wouldn't mind giving me a hand about timed server messages in that thread, I'd appreciate it.

The "simple" admin abuse reports were far more along the lines of "how dare you kick me, i'm letting Rocket know about this, he hates server admins.." etc etc. I don't like wasting time on drama or arguing w/o a legitimate claim - particularly when the defense is "oh i'm sure i shot you" as a derail - so I banned him, because I don't tolerate that kind of behaviour on my server. Y'all have enough on your plates as it is, letting talk like that run seems like tacit encouragement to bug the dev staff with explicitly non-dev issues.

I tried to input the messages as a batch file so I could run it through RCON, but I can't get it to work properly. The say command doesn't execute until after I quit the RCOn exe manually. Help? I'm a newb, but I couldn't google a solution.

If he killed me, I don't know about it. I kicked him because he continued to claim that 1.5.8 was out despite repeated requests to stop. I then banned him because he was attempting to threaten me.

Which plan are you using?

Which hosting providers are people using? I'm finding it difficult to efficiently search for servers which support these requirements.
