Brand new game today, and I started at cherno. Found some damn good loot including: -Equipment (map, binoculars, watch, toolkit, etc.) -Alice Pack -AK with Kobra sight (is this any good? I haven't fired it yet). I then came across a dead body (I didn't kill him, I swear) which had a crossbow on its back. I always hoard up bolts just in case (although I have never found a bow before). I left Cherno and now, I'm heading north hoping to find a military base (but I have no idea where I am). Anyway, while escaping Cherno, I agro'd a couple of zombies, and I ran into the fire station hoping to loose them. I decided to try out my new crossbow on them, and I took them down pretty quick. My question is this - When I went to loot the bodies, they didn't have crossbow bolts to take. Is this a glitch? Are bolts one-time fires? I would think that, with such limited ammo, they would be retrievable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry, but this mod is still in Alpha. Sometimes, the backback (and inventory system in general) just eats items. Same thing happened to me with my M4A1 COO SD. She's just going to have to get some more.

I have an M24... I actually came across an AS50, but left it behind in favor of my M24.

You should get a tape recorder and record all day. Then, play it back. You may be surprised...

He doesn't want to change your game in any way. Some time down the road, he just wants to port some of the amazing experience that we pc users have had over to some consoles. Is that really so bad? The games that get "dumbed down" are titles who's developers are simply looking to increase their revenue stream by taking their original product and using resources and development time to make sure that the title is as widely available at release. So what makes this different from those titles? You are not going to see: DayZ - Available October 13th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS, and Windows Live. ^ That is what is "dumbing down" your games. Not consoles. Greed. You have to reload it because Arma 2 doesn't have melee weapons. The "axe" is actually a gun.

It's said that the outbreak first began atop that mountain. Most people that go through it die within an hour or two. Also, it has become a popular place for the "jason" hackers (hackers with a character model that has a bloody hockey mask and carry around an axe while playing music sung by young children over chat) to find their prey. If you are on a populated server, there's a good chance that one of these hackers is running around that area. I'd just stay clear.

Any good loot? Could you even get in the ship?

If you are playing Arma 2 just for DayZ, you should do yourself a favor and download DayZ Commander. Seriously, it makes playing this mod really easy. Six launcher is alright, but is more for if you use mods other than DayZ as well. Just get DayZ Commander.

They could have all just gotten really lucky. My current character spawned on the coast outside Cherno, I go maybe 20 feet inside the city, and in front of the first house I was going to loot, is a corpse with a Ghillie Suit, Coyote Backpack, M24, M4A1 COO SD, and every piece of equipment. No need to yell, "HACKER!" automatically. Sometimes you do get lucky.

I saw a video of this guy with two canine companions. I thought that that was coming in in the next patch, not in this one. Are they here now? If so, where the heck are they? I've been running around in 1.7.2.5 for hours, and I have yet to come across any dogs. Are they ultra-rare or something?

Alright, good to know. I thought that I was going crazy. I knew that I saw Dogs in that video, but there was no talk about dogs on the forums. Glad I got that cleared up - I spent hours searching towns and farms for them - I feel like an idiot, now :lol:

I'd say that I'm a ranger-scavenger type. I'm not big on PvP. I mostly stay way up north raiding small towns. If I come across someone, I help them out in any way that I can. Once in a while, I go down to the NWAF to stock up on my military supplies. I'm normally a very friendly player, and when I'm up north I really let my guard down, but when I go to the Air Field, it's all business. No one is at the Air Field to make friends, so if I see someone, I don't take any chances.

It's not really a dumb question. The AS50 is not always everybody's first pick. I myself found an AS50 at a helicopter crash site, but decided to leave it behind. It didn't have any ammo on it, and I like the feel of my M24 better.

Way up north, find mountains. When you're at the top, scout out the surrounding fields with either a rifle scope or a pair of binoculars/rangefinders. About 10-20% of the time, I can spot a downed chopper in the fields. If not, I use my scope to find another mountain with a good vantage point, and try again there. The area surrounding Stary Sobor and the NW Air Field is a great area to find crash sites.

Honestly? I normally do help people out, but in this case, with extremely low blood on top of a broken bone, I would go onto direct communication and tell him, "Listen man, you've got really low blood, and you have broken bones. I only carry enough medical supplies on my person to take care of myself, and you're in pretty bad shape. Do you know where we are right now? Remember this spot. I'm going to put you down, but I wont take your stuff. Come back here and find it. That's the best I can do." If it's a rare occasion where I have multiples of every medical supply I need, I would help him out. The hard truth is that, while I wont be cruel to him, I'm also not going to jeopardize my own life by saving him with supplies that I might need to save myself. I've saved people before, but that's when they specifically request it ahead of time, and I could prepare (supplies-wise) beforehand.

A lot of people are experiencing this - this also happening to many people trying to get into US servers. I personally tried to join a game 15 times throughout the day, and I only got in once. All others got stuck at Loading.
