    Would this work for DayZ?

I think that it would be cool in the future - everybody loves customization. There are quite a bit more pressing matters right now, though. But in the future, yeah, totally. It's a great idea.

    Items Disappeared?

Yeah, anyone who has played DayZ for a good amount of time has had this happen to them. I've lost Alice Packs, FALs, Crossbows, etc. DayZ is in Alpha, it's going to happen.

  4. True, but I have yet to find a body at a crash site. I think that they get thrown from the copper. Or just get disintegrated.
  5. You can still see them if you want - there are many hackers still using them.

  9. I actually completely agree with you on that last point. If this was something that Rocket might seriously look into, my only suggestion would be to not make it a generic cookie-cutter campaign like the one I made up. This is DayZ, and you're not the hero, you're just trying to survive. Getting a Call of Duty style story where you and your squad rip entire armies to shreds would be many people's (myself included) worst nightmare. That is not what DayZ is. Totally agree.
  10. Your hostility is quite intimidating, good sir. Now that we have concluded that you indeed have the larger internet testicles, I can tell you that my goal with this thread was to simply see how players feel about a bit more backstory for old players, and an intro into the game for newer players. It would appear I have gotten my answer :)
  11. I'd like to read that. I'm really not campaigning for a single player that will suck developement time away from DayZ. I'm just trying to see how the DayZ community feels about a little more backstory being given.
  12. To zython, that's not how it would be, I agree that doesn't really make sense, I just needed to make up a reason for them to be fighting each other really quick. The main point I wanted to make is what Psyl3nt said. It would let new players learn how to play the game by actually playing the game - at the same time learning parts of the map, and put a little context into washing up on a beach somewhere. And someone above said that they wouldn't want to take away development on the main DayZ experience, multiplayer, and I completely agree. Multiplayer would come first. That's why I put "eventually being included" in the title. I'm talking about after it's through alpha and beta and finally released. Rockets team could work on it while responding to whatever drama kicks up at the launch. It could be released in a patch to the main game somewhere down the road.
  13. I don't mean just stuff is missing, I'm saying that my crossbow and bolts that were in my Alice Pack have disappeared and replaced with some random Enfield with rounds. Is the update changing gear for people?
  14. Oh yeah, I agree with that! I'm just saying that there obviously should be more zombies in the cities/towns/farms/houses than roaming around in the woods. The numbers should just go down like so: -100 in a city -50 in a town -10-20 at a farm and surrounding areas -5 in the general area of a house -1-2 spaced out every couple hundred meters in the woods.
  15. I don't really agree. You said that you were a fan of The Walking Dead. If you read the comics, there is a point where Rick and his crew massacre hundreds of Zombies and realizes that, in this apocalypse, they don't really have to worry about the Walkers. As long as they're organized and keep a cool head, they can take out any number of zombies. It's the other survivors that they have to worry about and prepare for. That's the way it is in the game. Once you get good gear, and know enough about the game (organized and a cool head), the zombies are not the problem anymore. It is the other survivors who are the real danger. Also, I think that the clear woods is pretty realistic too. What are Zombies? People who have died. Of course there are going to be more zombies in the places that people used to live (cities and towns/houses).

    Veteran player streaming new character

No, I watched it and I would have gone after them too, although for different reasons (not just to kill them, I just wouldn't want to be running around Cherno while some randoms are popping off rounds everywhere). I was just saying that, you knew they were in the area. If you hadn't made contact and you hadn't told them exactly where you were, you might have gotten the jump on them. That's all. I watched it for a while. Pretty good stream.

lol - just saw you get pwned on that ladder. I don't know why you were telling them where you were. You gave them way to much info imoa.

    Extremely long loading

Yeah, It takes a long time to load. I just go get a sandwich or something...

So... are crossbow bolts not retrievable?

Oh I see - instead of being in the gear menu, it's an option in the mouse scroll wheel? Well damn, I wasted two bolts back in Cherno. I'm much to far out now to go back and get them. Oh well, I still have 3 left. Thanks everyone!
  20. This is only my second life, and I decided to go crawling through Cherno. I find some pretty good stuff - I've got an Enfield and a Makarov with more than enough clips, a hatchet on my tool belt, with bandages, water canteen, and other medicine/food. I don't want to push my luck, so I decide to get out of the city. As I turn the corner, there is a guy just laying prone facing me, and he open fires immediately. I quickly go back around the corner and wait, then I jump out and start blasting him with my Enfield. He goes down (yay! the first time I have succesfully defended myself against another player!) and, to my surprise, I didn't agro a single zombie with my Enfield! How lucky is that? I go over to him to see what he has, and I hit the motherload. I'm talking everything I could have wanted. Map, military flashlight, compass, watch, a pretty rare-looking shotgun, a morphine injector, and a lot of other awesome stuff. He had a good backpack, too (Even though he fired on me first, I kinda feel bad. He must have survived a while to get all of this stuff. He was probably just scared that I would have killed him - and if he hadn't shot at me, I wouldn't have). Here's my problem - He got me once or twice, and my blood is pretty low (1500-2000). I bandaged myself up, but the low blood keeps making me pass out. Food gives you blood right? Can it also fix bones? I had a broken bone, but I ate some food the guy had, and it went away. Anyway, should I just head north, finding food as I go and slowly filling up my blood? This is the most items I've ever had, and I don't want to loose them yet. I know that you can get blood transfusions, but I don't know anyone else that plays this game. I've been going solo - I have not yet traveled with friendly players for more than a few minutes (some randoms). So does anyone have any suggestions? I logged out because I'm about to leave the house for the day, and I don't have time to deal with this right now. When I get back tonight, I'm going to have to figure out a way to get out of my situation, and I'd love some suggestions. I'm pretty badly hurt, and I need to go somewhere where I can be relatively alone (because I keep passing out) and can regain my health. Thanks.
  21. Yeah, no starting gun makes new lives much more hectic and rewarding, but this guy didn't have just starting gear. In the OP, I listed about a quarter of what he had. For a newer player, that was really the motherload. I doubt I will ever find such a well stocked bandit again. Anyway, none of this matters anymore. Since this encounter, I've spawned and died twice. The first one is a pretty good story, actually. I was walking along the railroad tracks, when I see this lone guy running. He hasn't seen me, so I get down, and start crawling toward him - just to get a closer look. I'm about to cross the road when I realize that this guy isn't alone - His buddy's truck is barreling down the road toward me so I drop again, hoping that he doesn't see me. They do. As they are opening fire, I see this little golf-cart like car and a Humvee coming down the road, with a helicopter close behind them. Now, a bunch are shooting at me and I just get lit up. I had no chance. That was the first time I ever saw a vehicle, let alone so many and a helicopter! Anyway, I spawn a while later (had to go do some stuff) and I see a huge fire in the distance. I go over, and the helicopter is in flames, with the Humvee nearby. No clue what happened - maybe a bigger group came by and wiped them out. I didn't see the other vehicles - maybe stolen. It just goes to show - They were powerful to the point where I had no way of defending myself, but there are always bigger fish in the sea. I guess that there is no point in fretting over loosing your gear. Someone is always going to have more stuff and be better at the game than you. -On a side note, is it possible for one helicopter to take out another helicopter? I'm just wondering because I don't think that they can be taken out from the ground - how did the helicopter get destroyed? Maybe with his buddies being attacked, the pilot crashed by accident.
