Turn your HDR up to at least "Low"

Can Opener, Bayonet, Screwdriver, and Kitchen Knife? I know for a fact that Can Opener and Bayonet worked before the patch. All you have to do is drag the tool over the can and you'll get an option.

I've learned you only REALLY need to eat or drink when it says "extremely" or is in red text. Otherwise it seems like it just says that if your hunger/thirst aren't at 100%.

It's a bug where you can't drink directly from the pump sometimes. The easiest way is to find a bottle or canteen and fill it instead.

Option > Configure > Gameplay > [select English]

Drag the item you want onto your hot-bar. Once it's there, hit the key you put it on and your character should bring it out. From there you can hit [space] to raise and lower it. [space] will also raise and lower your fists.

This is a know bug and is in the list of fixes in the new patch. This has been happening to a few people. Not sure of the cause yet.

First, you need to go read what an alpha test actually is... Second, it's not a 100% chance. I've been hit 3-5 times before i began to bleed which is fine. I wish it was 100% do to the lack of zombies in the first place.

Put HDR on [Low] instead of [Very Low].

Ok. I just got here so let me run you through a list of what needs to be done. 1. You need Arma II. You said you had it on steam so run this once alone. 2. You need Arma II: Operation Arrowhead. Once agian i'm assuming steam. Run this once by its self as well. 3. Now that you have both game installed and you have run each of them once move onto Dayz Commander and install the Aram II Patch and Dayz Beta(1.7.5.1 is the latest). 4. You should now be able to join a server through Dayz Commander. If you can't, post back here. -

You are correct. You do in fact need to run both before you play the game. -

Can tents and vehicles still disappear on server restart? in 1.7.5.1?

This has happened to me before. But first off, did you save them? If you did save the tents they should be back on the next restart. Same with the vehicles. Although sometimes they just get reset. -
The easiest way would be to download Dayz Commander. Once there select the PATHs for each game and then install the patches. Don't forget to run each game separately before trying to play Dayz.

The first thing I noticed was that you said you ran across a runway. This means you were at an airfield. From my experience playing solo or in a clan, these are kill on sight zones. As in people are either there to get loot and kill players or just simply kill players. So if you're up there, just know that you will probably never have someone run up to you offering you a weapon or asking if you want a friend.

Most buildings near the cost will have your generic survival supplies like food, flares/chem lights, and low tier weapons. High priority buildings in this area would be firehouses(medium tier weapons) and general stores. Hospitals is you need medical supplies. IF you're going for the best of the best in the way of weapons, head up to any military installation and run around for a bit. As a side note, apartments are the best for guilly suits.

As a side note though, light such as flares will attract zombie aggro. A neat feature is you can distract zombies by throwing a flare to draw their attention away from you or where you plan on going.

Here's the catch... They are allowing you to host your own DayZ server, you aren't hosting it FOR them.
