    Rocket is young genius artist who releases mod updates almost daily !!! There shouldn't be any issues with speed of updates in my view. Huge explosion of suggestions and bitching only creates diversity which will surely find place in the game. As for Industry : community increased Bohemia's ROI and sales probably 500 percent this past months and will continue gaining profits as mod will get bigger and better. Community is strong with this one, that's for sure. We all mostly ex-OPF/Arma vets here anyway - it's been always mature community -sometimes too mature :D as for art - many genius artists crafted their life masterpieces not for profits or fame - they created them in attempt to leverage their self-mastery skills, they wanted to see their own limits and erase borders of that limits. They were inspired to be first to climb Everest ! Thing like this is dream of every developer ! Pushing self boundaries and getting out comfortable zone is the only way to go for rocket right now ! $ will come naturally - money after all it's just an instrument to create something GREATER then more money ! P.S Read on Red Orchestra developers and their motives if you got spare minute - they also have incredible success story in gamedev.

    @_@ this just hit me !!! With bandit skin removed mod will slowly turning into DM with no hint on cooperation between stranger and their intentions... [read tldr in the end of post for short explanation, thanks] ============================================ Introducing Order-to-Surrender/Acceptance-to-Surrender system - possible solution to your judgment. --------------------------------------------------- OTS [Order-to-Surrender] CONCEPT/REASON : --------------------------------------------------- In DAYZ Every player is a live human, tiny ex-portion of society where communication and teamwork achieved more then violence. Now that's all gone, but in order to survive many humans will still rely on their social skills before weaponry. But usually peaceful socializing survivors tend to be victims of bandits and other malicious personalities, so to mitigate this issue we must add little "aggressive socializing" in our mod arsenal. [Order-to-Surrender] OTS will allow us to initiate unique type of vocal order or vocal command to surrender, not VOIP command over mic in direct channel, I'm talking about great in-game feature allowing us to control how we interact with strangers, bandits and other players in the game. Think of it as prison "check system" : you must place another person under evaluation to investigate their reasons, find out motives and their personality while pressing them under physiological/psychological risk of bodily injury or death. -------------------------------------------------- OTS [Order-to-Surrender] TECHNICALITIES : -------------------------------------------------- OTS should only be activated when person aims at another person's body through the loaded/unloaded weapons iron sight and distance between them not exceeding 20-30meters, or any value X here for distance. Ideally this feature should be mapped easily in attempt to replace unnecessarily trigger action, since in most IRL violent confrontation or police/suspect encounters vocal commands or verbal confrontation ALWAYS happen before gunfight eruption. If Order-To-Surrender feature can't be physically mapped to easy key, then it can be new scroll-up option when in iron sight/scope mode, as long as its quickly accessible. -------------------------------------------------- Benefits of using OTS will be explained below [READ ATS]... ------------------------------------------------- ATS[Acceptance-to-Surrender] CONCEPT : Player under OTS will loudly hear anything in this category : "SURRENDER NOW" "HANDS UP" "FREEZE, DON'T MOVE A MUSCLE" "ON THE GROUND, I'M COUNTING TILL 3" etc. Also under OTS player's panic meter increase instantly, vision degrades due to shaking and stress, aiming and concentration heavily impaired. Once under OTS ATS option will light up and be ready for selection. ATS can have 3 options to select in any order of selection : 1) player will quickly raise their hands in the air with weapon in the hands and issue a vocal statement "CALM DOWN IM FRIENDLY" 2) player will drop weapon in hand and lay down on the ground arms locked behind the back of the head (surrender but keep bagpack on the back) 3) while on the ground completely surrendered drop everything player possesses on the ground as loot and vocal statement "PLEASE DONT SHOOT" or "I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING ELSE, PLEASE LET ME GO/LIVE". ------------------------ DECIDING NOT TO ATS : ------------------------- If player that is under OTS decides not to ATS he has tough decision : Run to cover hoping you won't get shot at the back, Shoot back with penalty under stress, Aim with weapon raised through iron sights at another player and perform OTS on him. Lets review case perform OTS back at another player : mutual OTS now causing both of players go through penalty. This will create silent intense standoff where if you continue using OTS on each other your both vocal commands will get louder(possible creating interest from 3rd parties) your both panic meter will increase, eventually probably causing someone with short nerve to start firing blindly and hysterically :D Running away and shooting back cases are obvious. ------------------------------------ BENEFIT OF OTS/ATS SYSTEM : ------------------------------------ I believe OTS/ATS system will be able that missing link in GENIUS humanity concept that currently out. Here's why : Logically only crazed heartless murderers would violate OTS/ATS rules and still murder another survivor after taking all he's loot. That type of players fall under category of insane murders that kill for entertainment and should be "marked" with hallucinations, headaches, hysterical laughs, turbans and other attributes of insane survivor. If its over-protecting cautious survivor that protecting he's territory from the roof and just shoot everything in sight with sniper rifle, then he should be able to use OTS/ATS system to scare off fresh players scavenging around within 30 meter radius and still remain hes humanity. For every successful OTS/ATS without human casualties you will gain humanity, for every failed one obviously dropped. EASY TO DO ? --------------- MOD already has animation for surrender system where player can raise their hands, lay down on the ground could be also added if not in already. Also this system can't be abused OTS/ATS only works when there's direct iron sight aim with loaded weapon in hands and distance not greater then X. ---------- FUTURE/SUGGESTIONS/OTHER : ---------- Suggestion to be updated : ------ tldr; ------ Player1 aims at Player2 body with loaded/unloaded weapon and initiate OTS. Loud vocal order to surrender follows and reach Player2. Player2 has option to initiate 3 types of ATS with 3 different outcomes. Failed OTS/ATS slowly dropping humanity creating insanity, Successful humanity remains or slightly increased, maybe you get "bandit with big heart badge" :D P.S Apologies if idea is old, If you like idea please vote for it and share it with Rocket. Lets try to make this mod better while keeping it original. Thanks dev for mod as usual.

    Slower zeds running idea

    I say implementing stamina system would kill 2 birds with one stone. Stamina system would work for running as well as melee combat (on average average build human can probably hack with an axe 7-8 zombies before getting tired) Same applies to running - if you chased by zombies you will run for mile or two without turning for sure, speed difference will be there in the middle of the way before your second breath opened.

    I always believed that money corrupt art really fast. True artists stay hungry. Rocket is an artist therefore for now we only have to feed him with ideas, imagination and 3d models to make his still fresh art project a truly world changing history making jewel - new standard for none-casual art-house gaming. speaking of 3d models for arma - how hard is it to create them/ implement them - i would love to see more interaction with items ( such as use empty whiskey bottle + gas canister+ piece of t-shirt = molotov)

  12. basically very simple concept : Make each player start with backpack that has concealment transparent pocket for visible initials or username of that player. That tag should travel to every spawned bag that player finds, but if player picks up someone else backpack then he will have initials or username of another player. That can mean two things for another player - either this guy found this backpack or killed someone for it. Same concept could be applied to personal items : in real life every survivor will have some very unique and personal valuable thing to him - wallet, silver neckless given by mom/wife, some family medallion, custom warm sweater with username initials, tshirt or baseball hat with initials. Something like this should be valuable to carry in some way and visibly recognizable by other players. Idea is somehow make it unique so there should be a way for players to recognize this person as possible killer for valuables, bandit or rapist :)
  13. 2 things to add about crossbows in general : 1) please make retrieving arrows easier by including arrows INSIDE dead zombie inventory. 2)give us option to use knife on wood sticks to create arrows - there should be penalty of accuracy and distance and time required for creating one arrow.
  14. 1. Yea, Im not sure how easy also but it can be just a tiny black patch with username on top of back of the bag. 2. Speaking from personal experience EVERY time I was betrayed was from players that actually betrayed me after I helped them and let them in the group, usually headshot me from the back when I was bandaging myself or helping others. Usually they did that for my bigger bag or loot. In real life that shot-trough or bloody bag that he recovered from body of carebear would raise huge red flag for other survivors, unfortunately bloody bags not in the game. Maybe it will be easier just to have different skins for backpacks - bloody backpack, shot through darkish bloody backpack, - these should be indicators that it's previous owner was killed. So in other words it's totally useless information. not quite useless. I already mentioned in post above - perhaps there should be 2 different skins for backpack - one darkish bloody backpack with holes from bullets or arrows - indicator previous owner was shot by another human. Second backpack skin could be just with some bloody spots over it or just standard color - indicator that previous owner bled out from zombie attack or "natural" cause from falling etc - not involving any other human attack. These two types of bags can be great indicator for carebears to avoid "dirty bloody" players like that from the distance. In addition to that for bandits to hide blood backpacks could be washed by using say 10 liters of water.
  15. lets say you start out as player leechman That means on the back of your backpack in transparent pocket visible to other players from the back there will be phrase "to my son leechman, from dad" or just "Leechman" or just "LM". lets say you survived for 3 days and found many other spawned bags that never belonged to anyone - as you change to alice or better bag your initials or username on the back of the bag traveled as well - making your personal bag unique. Now if your character was killed by bandit for loot your bag end up in his possession but his username will not match the tag of the bag and only vigilant players might recognize that. Or same concept could be applied to say blood type : you might have tag of blood type on the back of the bag as A+ but your uniform/shirt blood tag will have blood type of B- again that can raise questions visually.

    Might sound funny but great advice in prisons when going to poo is to always take off your pants and never have them rolled down on the knees, its impossible to defend yourself with limited leg movements.
  22. It might sound extreme, tell me what you think : Here is an idea if player was disconnected/kicked out/timed out from server : spawn him in some dedicated area or where he was before. If player wishes to quit/exit server he must use sleeping bag to "fall asleep". That takes some time : - 1 or 2 minutes of preparation. While player logged off he's sleeping bag either cant be touched/killed/robbed or could be, if he fell asleep inside the room with the door that room automatically get's barricaded until player logs back in or he's sleeping beg gets spawn protection zone ? What you think guys ?
