What do youy do if you see a player
zython (DayZ) replied to Kaffarov37's topic in New Player Discussion
Today I was stalking a sniper only to find out I was being stalked as well. Like the noob I am I didn't notice him until I stopped and I heard his feet a foot behind me. I turned around and shot him immediately in the chest with my Lee. He said "ow, don't shoot me". He had a silenced M4, and allowed me to live. So I didnt fire again and we went our seperate ways. But yeah, shoot on sight unless I decide otherwise. -

Regarding Negative Attitude Towards Complaints
zython (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
First off, the game is in alpha. That means it has shit that need to be fixed. What's the purpose of a forum during an open Alpha? So playtesters (us) can report issues. How do devs know that things need to be fixed and in what order? The variety and volume of complaints. So the whole "Shut up about that bug already" "OP needs to enjoy the game as it is" "You're not playing right" "get used to it" "U mad?" "its just alpha dont complain" is pretty damn counter-productive. -My two cans of beans -
Regarding Negative Attitude Towards Complaints
zython (DayZ) replied to zython (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Exactly, that's why it irks me to see someone pointing out an issue just to be shot down by elitists. Sorry, had to vent. -
Can I give you anti-beans for that?
-
This is how you deal with Bandit Snipers.
zython (DayZ) replied to Psychobob's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Well played. Beans earned for fast forwarding through boring walking stuff which seems to occupy 90% of the time on other Day Z videos. -
You know back in the days of Dead Rising, when psychopaths were killing innocent, defenseless survivors and you thought "wow, what assholes, I would never do anything like that!" You are those psychopaths.

More "realistic" zombies (slower but more numerous)
zython (DayZ) replied to T8TRG8TR's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I believe the awkward running issue will be fixed soon. After that, the 'mike tyson' effect, and after that the zombies will be perfect in my opinion. -
First off, games like WoW are replayable because there's always "more to strive for", much like the Call of Duty prestige system which hooks many players in and providing people with at least a semblance of replayablity. I'm going to use CoD to compare here (not gameplay you twats, replayability gimmicks) So, having a fully geared player in Day Z is much like being a max level in CoD. You have everything. Where's the excitement? CoD players prestige, starting from scratch. Day Z players play more dangerously until they're killed, starting from scratch. Both ideas work about the same way, but CoD rewards players for their committment with swag (titles/emblems/symbol things) wheras Day Z doesn't. So, my suggestion is to have various skins that are unlocked through in-game actions which are not lost through death. Things such as, idk, "100 bandit kills" gets you a western duster, or "500 zombies killed" or "100 headshots" "100 blood transfusions" and so on, earning clothing such as cowboy hats, medic armbands, and anything else which a player can use to customize themselves with. I read somewhere on here, "Never underestimate a players desire to customize things, even for no more than cosmetic benefit" and its entirely true. And tieing customization to various feats creates more of a "hook" to keep players playing longer. *breath*

I agree, not a fan, but that doesn't stop the unique player statistics and subscription revenues. Null & void my ass

I'm a new player - and this seems SOO hard
zython (DayZ) replied to T8TRG8TR's topic in New Player Discussion
when you spawn pay attention to the bottom right corner of your screen. It will tell you where you spawned. Then use the interactive map, here, to find what you need and get started in the right direction. -
New Inventory (Made one as an example, have a look)
zython (DayZ) replied to Saurey's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Whatever makes inventory management less time consuming is fine with me. -
Fishing idea - yes lets do it Spears - not sure if the engine can allow it.
-
I don't like the idea of safe zones, because in an actual zombie apocalypse, no magical barrier is going to stop someone from raiding a church or whatnot.
-
I'm not saying having a full out acheivement list. It wouldn't be viewable in-game, the clothing would be unlocked when you completed said requirement and you wouldnt be notified of how you got it. Eventually players will figure out what gets what clothing, but that's not a problem either. Additionally it would allow players to see what you've accomplished in Day Z at a moment's glance. The guy wearing taliban clothing? Probably unlocked it via many pks. The guy with the medic armband? Probably has healed a lot of people. So on and so forth.

Create a possible trade company... thoughts
zython (DayZ) replied to Colinz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The issue with grand ideas like a trade company where everyone works together is that typically there isn't enough long term manpower to keep them sustainable. Not to mention the fact that human nature prevents teamwork in situations where personal gain outweighs group gain. -
