Okay well Bohemia already has your money sooo... have a good one, sorry it didn't work out. Also permadeath is a feature of Rust as well. If you can't handle that maybe this isn't the genre for you?

Just remember that we still haven't gotten to the stages where fully kitted players actually have something to do, like fixing cars or choppers, and setting up bases. I think there will be more geared on geared combat once those things come about.

What's your favorite house/building in the game to acquire items?
hells high replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
Yellow one Dr. Goner posted, or the piano house (hint, there's a gillion of them at Svetlo), or the new police station (one of the few places I can find .45 mags pretty consistently), or the 3 story buildings with the blue doors. Its hard to decide, but these are the buildings I hid first when I enter a town. -
Its autumn mate. Trees don't turn pretty colours during the summer months. It can get pretty cold that far away from the equator during that time of year.

Alternatives to the ballistic helmet
hells high replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
I can't wait for the old Soviet steel pot helmets. :P I'll sport the shit out of one of them. -
Memory leak to do with a gear item, last I heard it was likely the M4.
-
Pfft haha yeah I'd hardly call sound bugs "questionable mechanics". Meathead. Also while they are at it they should really fix the search feature on the forums. Wait, you mean its working perfectly? Hoodathunkit.

Why aren't there 'fat' characters in DayZ?
hells high replied to TheMachine's topic in General Discussion
Because then you need to redo all of the clothing items for not only men and women but also for fat men and women, but then oh we can't leave out the beefcakes, or what about the people that are just stocky? Oh and while we are trying to please everyone we'd need to do them for the super thin people, the six foot ones and the five foot nines. -
Just finished playing on the experimental servers after an hour or so
hells high replied to Oxygenthief's topic in General Discussion
The fact that nothing changes hints at poor optimization, which is to be expected in an early alpha build of any software. What I gathered from the last stream was that it had something to do with the M4 and was causing a huge memory leak. I tend to run the civilian rifles and stay away from people so I never experienced the bug. -
I only want to play with rain, solution ?
hells high replied to TimM1983's topic in General Discussion
It showers, doesn't really rain constantly. If you have clouds turned off (like a lot of people do to improve night visibility) turn em on and you should be able to tell which servers are cloudy and likely to rain. Also if you watch Evilviking13 he has a little cinematic about the storms and you can watch the clouds actually disperse, so they may accumulate dynamically too. -
Just because they have made breakthroughs in the development build doesn't mean they automatically have to patch it into the alpha build. I'm sure there's lots of things working or somewhat working on the development side that we purposely haven't gotten yet. And even if they do patch it in so what? We are testers, I'm sure it could be beneficial to see how the new server structures that support the zombies function in the public builds.

Loot respawns need to happen WITHOUT restart!
hells high replied to Kukui's topic in General Discussion
Everyone that has ever made this thread thinks its so simple. What they are working on is overhauling the entire structure of the game to facilitate respawning zombies and items, along with higher zombie counts as a whole. There are people dedicated to making that happen, but the art guys aren't a part of that. Once the artists do their work its fairly quick and easy (comparatively) for a programmer to add those items in while the others are working on the big issues. Bug fixing is also a huge timesink, you can hear Rocket talk about the things he would have been doing if he hadn't been bugfixing in almost every video ever. If they focused entirely on loot respawns you'd be making the same thread complaining that they should stop wasting their time on that and fix blatant bugs. This is an in development product (yeah yeah yeah you said "I know its alpha BUT"), shit doesn't just happen, the developers actually have to make the damned thing. If you can't handle slow trickles of content, only buy release software in the future. -
AK74 or AKM. Most AKs you see today referred to as AK47s are actually AKMs.
-
Were you carrying or standing next to someone with an M4? The current consensus is that there is a memory leak with one of the attachments or the weapon itself. Rain has little to no impact. Drop your M4's lads, pick up a real man's rifle! :P

The Blaser is incredibly accurate, almost brokenly so how flat the rounds fly. Still trying to find the SKS. :/

In the latest stream he said he would have added suicide if he wasn't busy with bugfixes.

Should Helicopter Crashes Make A Return and if so How Many?
hells high replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I agree with Sir Steak, there should be a random range rather than a set number. I think it'd be cool if some were events kinda like Rust's paradrop where you can watch one go down (maybe they spawn away from people, so they can just have a simple animation and when it gets to the ground, the animated chopper disappears and is substituted with a crashed one to save time and energy working out all the collisions and whatnot on the animated one). Maybe once in a while you see one go down but the majority are crashed already? I dunno, I'd be happy either way and that's a level of polish that isn't really needed at this stage. -
I've only ever ran into one person there, and I hid in a bush as they ran past...

Orr it'll just be more common than high capacity weapons, seeing as they seem to want to make the ballistics fairly authentic. Its a great gun, unfortunately a few seconds after I found my first one I also found a Mosin and a can of green and a can of black paint... ^^ Nice review, nice to see you know a bit about the real thing as well! Although its worth noting that even the 97/95 models can be made in a range of calibers from .22 hornet to 12 gauge buckshot. Might be interesting if they added one of the rifled bullet/smoothbore shotshell combo variants, would be nice for hunting.

In you inventory, with the weapon in your hands, you'll see a little icon on that weapon that looks like bullets. Right click on them and click "Eject". Then you can load a fresh stack. Its a little wonky right now and I'd love to be able to top it off in the future like you could in real life.

THEORY- scopes and binoculars please read.
hells high replied to DropBearChick's topic in General Discussion
Rendering only the scope area as zoomed while keeping the rest of your view normal can be very costly performance and time wise. That is why most games (like ARMA2) simply zoom in the whole screen and add a scope overlay, even for aimpoints that you don't really look through this way. I'm sure its something they'll try to do, it'll just take time. Edit: The Insurgency guys pulled this off nicely in the Source engine, both with their mod and the standalone. Even though you'd view a scope like this relatively close its still a beautiful pile of technical magic. and in RL -
Found one earlier and said "huh, okay", used it with my ratty old tactical shirt and cargo pants and BOOM! Lovely item!

I died being forcefed M4A1 magazine rounds...
hells high replied to ImDeafDontShootMe's topic in General Discussion
Seems to me like you are more upset about dieing and losing your gear than anything. Frankly I think its awesome that someone was killed this way. Shoving some 5.56 down a restrained guy's throat surely wouldn't be good for him. I wonder what other inanimate objects we can shove into people's guts... might be a job for the DayZ Medical Division! -
Balota Book Exchange - Seattle - Hardcore
hells high replied to hells high's topic in Server Advertisement
Cool thanks! Yes Hardcore just means first person only. I find it more immersive and more tense, since you can't just freelook over a wall and see whats on the other side. And no, no real book exchange. :P It was meant to make people chuckle, kinda stemmed from my friends and I joking about setting up a library at the Balota hangars. The server has actually become quite popular, even had people message me if it was bugged as there aren't too many Hardcores that fill up that I've seen. Hovers around 30-40 a lot of the time which is great! I guess the hole I filled for myself filled for a few others too. -
hypocrite loot farmers, why do you whine about "hoppers"
hells high replied to mssing's topic in General Discussion
Your server won't last long if you are going on a banning spree of people you don't know that join your server, or because you think they disconnected too quickly. Oh, and there is no refund for getting your server shut down, sooo have fun with that.
