The term bandit what it means now

Stealing something from someone is banditry. Whether you kill them, point a gun at them, tie them up, feed them poison, knock them out, or steal something off the ground when they aren't looking, it doesn't matter. Killing someone is not banditry, shooting at someone is not banditry, having a weapon out is not banditry. You hear the term "bandit" used to describe almost every player in the game, and its usually used as a self justification method. But it is an easy and accepted label in the DayZ-verse for any hostile person, hell I use it often in the heat of the moment.
  2. The point of this kind of mass, open, stable branch for testing is to play the game as a consumer. Sure you keeps your eyes out for bugs, provide feedback on things you like and dislike, but you are to play the game as if you were an end consumer because ultimately that is what the game is for. If you think fishing and hunting are too hard to get into then by all means make your case, but try it first.

    The new running animation, Why?

Sorry, I wasn't aware animators were in charge of programming the control system. I guess as an animator myself I must be grossly under qualified. Yeesh, ANYWAY, the new run does look pretty strange. Kinda reminds me of an orangutang. I think if they toned down the side to side of the spine chain it could look alright. I tend to play in first person so I wouldn't have really noticed but it could use some tweaks.
  4. Pretty much that. If you want a safe, stable, and complete experience I'd come back in a year or so. That goes for pretty much any piece of software in the active development phase. However, as a bit of a blanket response, its pretty much up to the server provider whether they store all that data or not and how they go about doing so.
  5. That's because you are swapping with the weapon raised. Lower it and you will continue to move whilst swapping. This is an issue linked to the animations needing to be configured and presumable made for this action. Same goes for the general theme of this thread, but I see we already have people doing the mocking "alpha" thing so I best be off.
  6. Definitely seems like a WIP part of the health and medical system. I wouldn't like for it to stay as it is, however the idea that your injuries kind of stay with you and mold throughout your life is kind of interesting. Imagine how surviving plenty of gunshots and fractures would affect you in a survival situation. With the procedural textures becoming a possibility in the new renderer scars and such might be kinda cool. Personally I think it'd be cool if it created animation changes (after a few leg fractures your gait is a little jacked up or something) but that's kind of a pipe dream methinks.

Trouble finding tents sonce .49 stable patch

In the last dev stream Brian put it best when asked why tents aren't spawning in castles and feedshacks: this early in development it is presumptuous to think loot spawns will stay the same. I'm honestly not sure where they spawn right now, but you can probably stop checking feedshacks. :P

what's your favorite backpack to use?

Geared players with mountain packs are KOS, nothing like hunting a loot goblin. The loot goblin can generally be found at military bases with multiple rifles (usually an M4 or two), and tend to panic upon seeing, hearing, or being engaged by literally anyone. The fleeing loot goblin will spray multiple high capacity magazines in the intruders general direction and backpedal in an attempt to keep its loot pile safe. After a successful escape the loot goblin can be seen quickly jumping to another server to continue its collection of loot.

    Love the New Sway

Your issue was with the PP effects being ugly and claimed that turning it off was "right", so suit yourself on that point. I also have never used Reddit, so I'm not sure what the correlation there is. If you like something about the game you are a fanboy from reddit who hasn't played the game, or aren't playing it "right"; its fucking brilliant. I like the new sway because it compensates for the fact that you don't have to line up your sights when firing a weapon. The slightest misalignment of your scope or sights and your bullet isn't going to go exactly where you want it to. But I apologize to Mr. MaxRain, the true DayZ player, for being such a fanboy and not actually playing the game correctly.

    Love the New Sway

That's actually not the right way, considering indicators for your health levels are tied into post processing. If your screen is blurry its because you are injured and you need to fix that. Its essentially bypassing a system in the game to gain an advantage in combat, like turning up your gamma at night. But, by all means please keep up the superior tone.

    Static Crash Sites Gone?

They removed the static crashes and put them into the random chopper crash system, like the Blackhawks. Don't get all huffy just because you now actually have to look instead of server hopping and loot cycling.

    I am shaking...but!

Some of the coldest days here (-40C) can be bright, blue skied, and sunny.
  13. That's what I meant, the helmets not having shock protection probably isn't intended.

Why the Myshkino military tent camp is full of garbage?

I actually haven't been up there in quite a while so I'll have to take your word for it. I figured the loot configuration was just screwy there.
  15. hells high

    Why..

Nah you'd need to have control over the central hive (they don't). These are just awful players that can't loot in a regular server environment so they create a safe haven for their friends to gear up. If they kick you for no reason you should report the server. Its against the rules. Period.
  16. My buddy hit me on the head with a telescoping baton and knocked me out in one hit. I'm sure its not intended and will be addressed.

    I am shaking...but!

A few of the items heat values need to be tweaked and a few of them aren't even configured yet from what I understand. Also AP_Norris is right, the further northwest you go the higher the altitude. I don't have much trouble with a raincoat, cargo pants, balaclava, and ushanka.

So the team is trained, am I right?

Lol. Systems in an in development piece of software currently being built aren't 100% finished or working perfectly so the game is crap, and threads like this don't waste space on the server box. The forums are good fun tonight. A+ all around.

So the team is trained, am I right?

Your cup of tears comes with a silly straw.
  20. I trap zombies in and outside of houses quite often. I imagine its due to server performance, if the server isn't performing well it might not realize the door is closed even though your client sees it as such. But that is just my speculation. Hop into a low pop server and give it a test.

My friends shoot anyone who is geared ...

I always try to at least talk to someone, whether its telling someone to leave or whatever. Even just a few minutes ago ran into a couple of clan guys logging into a military prison and talked to them, before their actions and dialogue made me very uncomfortable and I had to take them out. When I'm with my friends its pretty much the same. Generally we just want to have some fun, wandering the woods, shooting zombies and messing around. If we encounter someone it depends on their body language and perceived intent whether we avoid, talk, or engage (for example we shot one guy that had gunned down a fairly low geared player that had pressed F2, and we approached a fully geared player with weapons on his back to ask what he was looking for on the ground). I can't really say we've KOS'd anyone as a group, but we have engaged in a fair bit of PVP. Usually its people we've seen KOS'ing or people that have shot/shot at us. Its all good in my opinion, I wish more people would try to interact or be interesting bandits/PVP'ers but the beauty of games like this is the freedom to play however you want.

Loot spawns - anyone else frustrated?

Maybe this isn't the game for you? There are plenty of mods for ARMA 2 and 3 that want you to jump in with piles of guns and go crazy shooting everyone.

New military base west of Myshkino

I found 2 pristine MASKA helmets in the raised tin barracks.
  24. Okay guys let's get creative and have a little fun. I was very happy when it was confirmed that craftable clothing and items would be a focal point in the game. Already we've seen various animal skins being able to be made into bags and soon clothing. However with Chernarus being a rather modern country, I feel like there is a great opportunity for various items you might find lying around to be re purposed into survival gear. Obviously we already have the canvas pants which I'd imagine will be craft-able at some point, and the burlap sack being used for bags. More than animal skins and leather items I am excited to see how these kinds of items could be expanded upon. I can imagine with all the random clothing and scraps that would be lying around you could easily stitch together some kind of horrid t-shirt quilt and use it to create a bag out of (much like the boar skin packs, this tshirt quilt abomination texture could be used on existing items). You could stitch a hoodie into a courier bag of some sort, use a trash bag for the burlap sack recipes, etc etc. I feel like later in development the team could have a lot of fun coming up with random items you could find lying around to use in basic survival gear. I feel like mixing found clothing, crafted clothing, animal skins, and all the other things you find could create a very rich and interesting aesthetic that feels very "make do". Please, feel free to post your ideas I'd love to read them and get a creative brainstorm of ideas going. Also at some point I'd love to see crafted items for the chest slot. Maybe you could use the courier bag on your hip or something in conjunction with a backpack. It doesn't offer any protection but allows for that chest slot to be used to allow some more capacity.

Weapons - Where Should They Go Next?

Woah man, chill buddy. I know the backstory, and I've logged countless hours into everything from OFP to ARMA 3. Not sure if your nose is turned so far up because you like the smell of fresh air or what but it sure inhibits your social skills. I'm not reciting what I read in PC Gamer I'm reciting what I saw in the Czech Republic. The geography and architecture is all based on an area in that country, I don't see why that in any way contradicts the backstory of the game or why that means you couldn't find a VZ in that area, you sure as hell can find them here. "But most of you wouldn't know that", oh grow up you mouthpiece.
