Confirmed for combat logging. It completely ruins the game experience.

What civ style weapons would you like to see?
hells high replied to pythonmsh's topic in General Discussion
Civilians do own ARs, AKs and other "scary military type rifles". For example here in Canada a Tavor is classified as a non-restricted (meaning you only need a regular gun license to get one, just like any bolt action or shotgun), yet most people would scream "military bullshit" about it. I want some classic pump action shotguns, because I think it'd be fun to run that kind of setup with a pistol. -
No because I haven't gotten the game yet, I've only played the in-development alpha build.

Loot is random dude. Part of the tension and fun of the game is not knowing whether you're going to find that exact item you want or need. Inventory space is a commodity, and as such is rare. You really don't even need a backpack to survive. Consume any food and drink you see around when you need it and keep a few bits on you for emergencies. The only thing carrying 30 food items on you does is give the person that shoots you in the face a nice restocking point.

Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?
hells high replied to GriefSlicer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
They kill you - you are dead, they are still alive = you have lost DayZ (as that character) and they are still not-losing. Maybe they're missing out on a lot of other stuff to do (like playing an RPG and not doing the sidequests that make up the majority of the game) but that doesn't mean they're bad at it. -
I was worried this would happen, the .22 round is no joke IRL.

Should The Alpha Disclaimer Let The Game Off The Hook?
hells high replied to Prag's topic in General Discussion
Since your post kinda seemed to run in circles and I'm not really sure what you are trying to get at, I'll just answer the title: In cases of unfinished features/bugs/placeholders, yes. In terms of poor design choices that AREN'T going to eventually be replaced by a proper system, no. A lot of people seem to think that talking about any bugs or issues you have during an alpha is bad, which is wrong. Its complaining about the issues in an nonconstructive way that demonstrates you don't seem to understand the software is still being made that is "bad". However there are also some that think the alpha is the product they bought and that it should be 100% perfect which is worse (these are generally the idiots that scream at the idiots screaming "alpha".) -
I've traveled East and West on the Northern superhighway plenty of times, still patiently waiting for what I call "bridge city" to spring up. <3

Haha no I'm thinking something more like this: Just helps to break up the silhouette of the helmet. You could even do the same to your pack or other parts of clothing, which would be pretty cool.

Because they have to buy the game again anyway, and if they keep doing it they'll just have to keep buying the game over and over; more sales means more money for the developers to improve the game and even the anti-hack systems. Plus you act like you've never made a mistake in your life, and I'm going to take a stab and say that is untrue.

The Ruger MKII Is Coming, But Whats It Like?
hells high replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Shooting a deer or a man with a .22 would be pretty much unethical bleedout/lead poisoning torture, unless you got em in the head from a fairly close to medium range. That being said, its no joke. It will shatter your bones and mess up your internal organs pretty good, especially if you have some vermin popper hollow points. Its a nice easy slow slug that is about the same size as a standard 5.56 NATO round. Here's a pretty good video on the lethality of the .22LR round. With the way the weapons work currently, it'll probably be a close range, no head protection headshot kill; and a torture or hunting device the rest of the time. ^^ -
Is this a new Zombie being added in? New pistol?
hells high replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
Oh man, that .22. I hope its not a pea shooter, the .22 LR might not be the most powerful but it isn't a joke; it will kill you. -
Ohh yeah how do BattleEye bans work? I have no idea, maybe buying the game again won't because BattleEye may track you differently. Like most people here I've never been banned, sorry! ^_^

I'd like to see a TTSKO helmet cover like the zombies have, just for cool factor. Other than that some handmade strips of ghillie (not military quality, the ones that snipers take ages to hand craft properly, just like a torn up sack stuck to your helmet.) Despite what a lot of people say, blending into the environment is as much a lone non-KOS survival tactic as it is a bandit military squad one.

Uh cool story, yeah just get a new Steam account and buy the game again. Could have probably found the same answer on Google. If you also got IP banned from some servers you still won't be able to play on those. Cheating is cheating no matter how you slice it, and it ruins the games for everyone else. Don't fuck it up this time.

Experimental servers: A word to the devs
hells high replied to finnpalm's topic in General Discussion
The team do their own testing on certain things. The whole point of an open beta is to see how the game performs and plays out in the wild, with real players. -
Why not find a couple of servers and stick to them? Why is that so hard?

How am I desyncing when I'm the only one on the server
hells high replied to Caboose187 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Out of curiosity why do you think you being the only one on the server should negate any type of lag or desync issues? Even if you are the only one on, your client still has to communicate with the server. -
Wow this thread got out of control. Here's a video you crazies might enjoy. Either way I'm sure I've heard it somewhere that they will be doing craftable dual mags. Although, with the current animations I can't see it really being much of a benefit (unless they don't fix the fact that it can shoot all 60 rounds without swapping in between, which I imagine they will fix).

Huh, its almost like millions in sales for the mod and the standalone itself has somehow translated into Bohemia investing some more into the product. Hoodathunkit. :P
-
They completely rewrote the game, of course its not at the same place. Besides, the DayZ Mod didn't make any money for the actual DayZ team. Now its their job.

Craft a courier bag with rope and a burlap sack. You don't need that many food items unless you plan to play "UN Food Distribution Simulator" on the East coast (which has actually kinda been fun for me in the past). Slim down on the gear to keep you on the move, constantly having to find food. Maybe even drop your melee so you have to either punch or shoot zombies, meaning you'll have to always seek out more ammo instead of hording piles you'll never use. On one of my previous characters I made it a mission to visit every town on the map (this was pre-Svetlojorsk) and ended up making a complete circuit of the map as well, including a slow jog along the entire coast.

Yeah, a zombie apocalypse where there are people running around killing eachother for sport and for sustenance, and just because I don't actively hunt people down I shouldn't carry a weapon or two. I also carry enough ammo to fill most of my inventory because I grow weary of axing zombies in the face, and want to actually use the weapons I have. Plus as a northern survivor you really only have to carry 1 or 2 pieces of food and drink on you at any time. I also carry a pair of handcuffs, should I happen upon someone that wants me dead and I end up incapacitating them, I can revive them, restrain them, hide their ammo, and be on my way. By the time they break free (or log off, as some uninformed ne'er-do-wells have) I'll be in the trees and on my way. Even carry a burlap sack (or rope, depending on which I find first) in the interim period because I like to craft the courier bag and go low profile. Point is, as always, its the attitude and the actions not the look or the equipment. Met plenty of military geared (even donning the dreaded gas mask! *gasp*) at military bases no less, whom peacefully exchanged hellos and even invited me to loot the base, before parting ways. If you feel threatened, shoot away without feeling bad; after all its a video game.

I find hardcore much more fun to play, not just firefights and whatever but just general encounters.
