What clothing set/weapons would you add if you could?
hells high replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion

He was a hacker wanting nothing more than to ruin people's experience. Fucking sad.

The only foundation they laid is adding attachments to your weapon. They could easily be modified to do absolutely nothing if they so desired. I don't know what to do with the attachments, I don't have any design ideas, but frankly I don't shoot enough people to notice the differences in accuracy. I like the way the default handguard looks on an M4, and I find the MOE butt stock very comfortable and fairly appealing. If anything adding the MOE parts should make the weapon lighter and thus more maneuverable via the dexterity system they plan to implement.

The discrepancy between you and my is nothing more than simple lack of polish during the development cycle. It'll get fixed eventually, but honestly there are much more important things to work on first.

Wich vehicles do you want to see in the SA?
hells high replied to Ep1cNiki's topic in General Discussion
Just imagine if they make it so your character can no longer sprint with a full pack of gear and a rifle in his hands. Even the most proficient special forces need to stop for a rest. ;P I'd like to see generic civilian trucks, cars, some military UAZs and that kind of thing. The vehicles aren't the big deal for me, its how they work. Obviously they want players to need to scavenge parts and fix them up, but I'd like to be able to shoot out of the passenger door if there is no glass, or the box of the truck, albeit very unsteadily. Driving around and spraying newspawns would be difficult but if you can under attack you'd at least be able to defend yourself. -
Put it back....lootable bodys after ten minutes
hells high replied to vipereye's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to be able to see dead bodies around unless they are hidden (maybe you need a shovel to do so). Seeing a body used to remind you that you weren't alone and that the world of DayZ is dangerous. Maybe its a newspawn surrounded by now idle zombies, or a suspiciously geared player, or one picked entirely clean. I think players running back to their body is an acceptable side effect of it. -
They're facing bugs that prevent them from adding pump shotguns at the moment man, I wouldn't doubt it if there was something hindering the on the fly changes to sound/muzzle effect/how the zombies hear it. Its also just as likely that they are too busy with survival based aspects and the function is just lower on the priority list.

I'm not against HUD or crosshairs, I feel they can be used perfectly fine in certain situations, but I'll be glad to see it gone. Its really not hard to aim without it in a pinch, as there is no freefloating detachment of the camera from where you are aiming (although, I've experienced that being just as easy with practice in the past). Sights are on your weapons for a reason! :P

Anyone worried there will be too many ammo types ?
hells high replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
I think its cool that you will actually have to look for the right kind of ammo. -
Ran into a lot of awful admins that go into global and don't realize/care. You also used to be able to glitch into it, but I'm not sure if they fixed that or not.

Do you want working helicopters and planes in DayZ?
hells high replied to RedDogMT's topic in General Discussion
Considering the sheer amount of people playing SA that appear completely new to BI games, watching them fly ARMAcopters could be pretty interesting. I don't see any problems with choppers/planes. Dean made it clear at Rezzed that they would likely be very hard for players to put together. -
Hello all, Well unfortunately it appears the Balota Book Exchange will be closing down in 1 week. A server that started as an experiment to give myself a stable place to play, where I knew there would be zero admin/clan abuse nonsense, grew into a pretty popular community. Unfortunately as stated before I cannot continue to pay the crazy DayZ hosting fees on my own, and donation support to keep the server going has been nonexistent; Aside from PhilB's kind and generous donation, which allowed the server to be renewed so as not to waste their cash. This is perfectly fine, nobody expects to pay for a public server nor should anyone run one expecting help, I just can't do it on my own is all. As a result the service will not be renewed after these next 7 days. It's been a lot of fun playing with everyone, seeing and meeting the regulars, and surviving (but usually dieing) in the apocalypse. Please do not donate to the Clan-Pay account, unless you somehow managed to wrangle a large group. I will not be renewing the service for a few bucks, regardless of how appreciated these generous contributions are. I appreciate that you would give even a single cent to keep the community going, but the DayZ hosting fees are so high at the moment. Once the money goes into the Clan-Pay account it is in Multiplay's hands and is non-refundable, also note that I can't take it out or use it for anything else. Thanks for playing everybody! In the Rezzed presentation today, Dean announced that they plan to model dexterity into the game and frankly it excites me; I've never seen it done this way and its been an idea I've had in my own head for projects for a while. People think of mouse acceleration and automatically start hissing and retreating to safety. But in reality the system that we currently see in DayZ is a broken negative acceleration system. I'm not sure why it turned out the way it did but it certainly isn't right. The dexterity system that Dean is talking about is, in my opinion, a very interesting use of the technology. Basically what it would do is simulate weight with your weapon, so spinning around with a 9 pound, 50 inch long Mosin Nagant isn't going to be as quick as a shorter, lighter M4. The current (again, broken) system acts in such a way that the faster you turn your mouse, the less you move. I do not think this is the way the dexterity system will work, but rather will only add a cap to your movement speed based on your weight/weapon. This sounds much more appealing to me than a simple, arcade shooter-esque 1 to 1 system. You may actually have to consider what weapon you are carrying, where a threat could come from, and how to position yourself in a way to negate your potential disadvantage. Yes you'll have to think! Brilliant! That means clearing a building with a large rifle would be substantially less viable than, say, with a pistol; and running along with your Mosin hoping to be able to snap 90 degrees and shoot the guy smartly traveling on higher ground would be in vain. One area I'm curious about is acceleration of movement and momentum. You may only be able to swing that massive chunk of wood and steel around so fast, but will it take time to start moving at that speed and will it continue its path after stopping for a small duration from the momentum? Can you lower the weapon, bringing it closer to your center of motion to spin faster? These are all very exciting possibilities to make the game feel more satisfying in terms of movement and weapons handling. I'm expecting a bunch of "ew mouse acceleration", but I'd like to hear some intelligent counterpoints or even expansions onto why you think this could be awesome or awful. Cheers!

How I've gotten around Wait for Host: I wait for a few moments (about 30sec-1 minute), and don't press any buttons. Then, if no player list or Battleye text has popped up I simply press ESC. Rejoin the server, if it does it again, I repeat. Every time I've done it on about the 3rd try it loads in about 10-30 seconds.

Balota Book Exchange - Seattle - Hardcore

When do we get the .50 cal battle rifle to mount the ACOG to? :P http://youtu.be/GXEK7rcqO-Y?t=1m36s

Why not just play hardcore? :s Also the popping in and stuff is kinda reminiscent of oldschool isometric games where things would pop in out of the "fog of war". Wouldn't bother me, but I probably wouldn't be playing 3rd person anyway.

Keeping it dapper in the countryside
hells high replied to Ineedscoffee's topic in General Discussion
I love going low profile. It doesn't necessarily mean non-military, either, just not carrying a bunch of useless nonsense that you don't need. It isn't necessary to carry around a mountain pack full of food and ammo unless you plan to sit in the woods shooting into the air for days on end. -
Meh I'd much rather not have anything that is artificially safe from other players. If you have a safe hidden in the woods or something someone should be able to enter the combo if they have it or if they guess it.

Why are there pants everywhere and almost no food to be found?
hells high replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
Because people generally only need one pair of pants, they don't normally only need one can of food. -
HOW CAN YOU BREAK A GAME AFTER FIXING IT!
hells high replied to lucasmarteney@gmail.com's topic in General Discussion
Because game and software development isn't a linear path of roses and sunshine dude. Also zombies in a zombie game, how dare they right? -
Respect the Soldier that Wears a UN Helmet!
hells high replied to CGNoodlePot (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I wandered the coast with a UN helmet, a pack full of food, and a hidden sidearm for protection, handing out food and drink as part of the UN Disaster Relief. After the 3rd player I met tried to knock me out (and was dealt with in proper fashion) I dropped the helmet and returned inland to regear for survival. :/ -
And then you could just run around chambering single rounds in your SAW. :P

Anyone want an anti stab vest pristine? Where is 22 sporter?
hells high replied to joeh2005's topic in General Discussion
I've found .22's on the military bases and in the new 2 story log saloon building thing.
