I would like to see a Diary & Camera option in DayZ
spamjabber posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hi there, I was listening to the interview Rocket had with Sidestrafe and thought of the idea of having a diary option in dayz and along with that a camera option to take stills around the island Essentially you have to find loot that represents the notes section of the objectives / map screen. This loot would be in the form of a book i.e the diary. The player then has the diary on his person while in their inventory and they can add text and sign it with their name if so desired. If the player was killed another player may find his diary and have some reading material while not running from Z's. Was thinking you could find a pen as well to enable the player to write to their diary. I think this could really create some great stories and give players the options to leave notes or notices in areas! The camera idea is along the same lines. Find an in game disposable camera and take snaps, maybe put some in your diary or something like that. -

Ah not to worry, if it is a valid option it may be considered at some point! -
Just go on a server which is currently in daylight simples!

I have no idea what you just said op..

You cant look at dayz the same way you look at arma, there isn't OPFOR, BLUFOR and Independant. I think factions would simply take away from the whole concept of dayz.
-
I don't think every player should be able to scale a wall efficently and jump over stuff that they really shouldn't be able too. The arma 2 engine does make the player models somewhat rigid when it comes to movement. Think something could work here

Being able to access only your own Tent(s)
spamjabber replied to seklay's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Dayz tents are boss. The fear of being raided needs to stay, you are never safe.. -
Ah i get ya now then. Like the idea of a new island, IMO DayZ would flourish on the biggest map imaginable. However that does mean everyone has to download it etc.. Standalone anyone? :) But yeah that sounds cool, I like the idea of boats too, would add another method of exploring in a relatively safe way

Like the idea of a story behind it, but at the same time, you can create your own version of events that took place. Think I prefer the freedom to be in my own version of the anarchy that is DayZ. Nice idea though, many will like it for sure.

I have no clue what you mean Oo

Thanks, yeah I genuinely think it will be feature at some point, as it is a realistic option in an apocalyptic type scenario, many voices will want to be heard! When I eventually have a PC to run Arma2 again I hope it is there! EDIT:Awesome tumblr btw! The screenshots you have taken look great, must have a nice rig! -
Really don't think this is a big issue that needs addressed anytime soon.
-
I honestly want the clothes to become more relevant, with that the weather and seasons need to be relevant also for it to work IMO. But they could shape certain types of characters definitely

Anarchy is a good word for it. Beans are lovely

Its all good I was just happy to see someone else was into the idea

I think the future of dayz is on a map 10x bigger than Takistan that will be the day!
-
In real life though they have a working police station with internet, databases etc etc this is dayz and I know realistic is a loose term for this game, but I would imagine very few players would have the ray mears or native tracker abilities to properly follow bandits trials and nail them for a "crime". Also consider, this is a new world. All the old laws are irrelevant, there are no government warrants going out for arrest for a bandit who killed this guy by the coast for his can of beans. Many players concerns are for survival and that alone. Bandits are a pain in the ass, but I don't think any wanted level will add to the game in the way its designed to be played.
-
I don't think the idea is very realistic. The ability to kill someone is a million times to easy in Dayz for sure, but the solution to the problem I think is not Vigilante mode Dayz style. There would be no real way to tell a bandit in real life, unless they're dragging a corpse or you stalk them like a wolf. Think that needs to stay in dayz, although it will develop over time I'm sure.

Not sure how much a currency system could work at this moment in time as the player can really get enough food or water easily enough. But if you think about the likes of the movie "The Book of Eli" they traded bits and pieces that appeared rare you know or just highly sought after. If currency was introduced certain items may need to be capped to represent realistic value. I hope that made sense, but anyway yeah I think down the line some sort of currency would be pretty realistic and could create a whole new dimension. Maybe it could be implemented in a future build to represent the progression from the "infection / shock" phase to the rebuilding, or progression phase of a realistic type scenario.
