Agreed. Game needs like 3-4x the number of zombies it has now. If i'm just running full blast through town, l want a 30 zombie hoard chasing after me. Zombies also need to be more dangerous in general. I shouldn't be able to run from zombies forever, I should have to think fast; either find cover quick or make a stand and shoot them down. Game also needs 50-75% less ammo for most guns. Even military guns like the m16 and akm are really easy to get with like 8 mags within an hour. Finding ammo should be exciting and choosing how you use it should need more consideration. Would you really waste your bulltes shooting an unarmed player if ammo's really hard to find and aggro'ing a mass of zombies was deathly dangerous?

Multiple DayZ accounts (useful for shared computers)
jmido8 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm looking to do this, could my first account get wiped if I have to uninstall the game and reinstall it? -
I might have changed my gameplay based on the play style of others but by doing so I discovered a new play style that I enjoy more and it's a play style I would have never tried if I didn't have to adapt. I completely agree. I found a couple friends via these forums a few days ago and the game is so much more fun now. I'v always been a lone wolf type player and I thought I would hate having to wait on others and go where they wanted to go instead of solely where I wanted but just having people to talk to, and having friends to plan tactical battles with is so much better than playing alone. Nothings more exciting than when we're looting a city and some other group or players start firing at us and we're calling out locations, taking tactical positions, laying cover fire, etc.

You have to run northeast to get to the hospital. There are actually military tents right behind the hospital as well which pack a ton of medical supplies and even some military loot.

I've murdered 110 people, I'm still alive, and i'm coming for your beans...
jmido8 replied to Xiroth's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
105 murders and only 5 bandits? The numbers seem like proof enough to me that he is camping spawn spots on the coast..... AKA griefing. -
What does the effective range mean for these guns? For example, my friend found an as50 and the wiki says it has an effective range of 1200m but it can zero up to 1600m. Does this mean that it can accuractly hit up to 1600m but it'll only 1shot up to 1200m?

The Novy Sobor spawn, IMHO an excellent twist on gameplay
jmido8 replied to ahyokata's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The two times I'v spawned there, I was glitched under one of the red residental buildings. I managed to get unglitched but it took some moving around. It makes me think this spawn is just a bug and unintended. -
Please tell me server hopping for loot has been fixed?

[OFFICIAL] 1.7.2.4 -- Stuck at loading screen
jmido8 replied to Benlandia's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Six launcher is updating the game so it should be official now. Anyways, I had the same problem with the loading screen but if you keep trying different servers, you should find one that works. -
Yup, I don't see a single updated server yet lol
-
I guess the patch is out because I just downloaded it through dayz commander.
-
I use dayz commander and even though I have day only checked, I still get night servers. And even when I choose a server that should be day according to the timezone, it's sometimes not. Is there any way to tell at all without joining the server?

US(EST) Player looking for 1-3 active, tactical players for casual group
jmido8 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey, I'v been playing for almost a week now and i'm looking for 1-3 other people to play with on a daily basis. If you think we would be a good fit, then add me on steam: jmido8. I just recently died so I will be starting a fresh respawn and would like to start it up with someone else. I know I have a lot of requirements for the people I play with but it's because I'm looking for long term friends and not someone who will leave soon because of a disagreement in how we play or handle stuff. So please read everything carefully because it's all very important to me and I want to find very similar players. If you have any questions about me, please feel free to ask. General stuff 1. Mature- I'm 22 and a college student. I dont care how old you are as long as you don't rage into mic, or pull immature stunts (killing unarmed people on sight, or just douchebag moves in general) 2. Play time- I'm looking for friends who generally play a lot. I'm usually online for a good portion of the day and would like to have other people to play with while i'm on as well. I don't have any specific times that I get on but I may be online as early as 9am EST and as late as midnight EST. However, I do not play much later than midnight. If you're a late gamer and play into the wee hours of the morning, it won't work. Also, I usually play for 2-5 hours at a time so it'd be nice if you liked longer sessions as well. 3. Time zones & ping- I'm from the US, an East Coast player. I won't play with over 100 ping so I'm looking for other East Coast players to game with. If you don't care about your own ping, then I don't care if you live further away. Just note that I'm not joining you on a server where I'll have 100+ ping. In general, I play on servers with 20-50 ping. 4. I prefer high population servers. I usually play on 35-50 man servers because I like the risk of pvp. I won't join you on <20 man servers just so you can gear up in peace. 5. I'v only played a week and I'm looking for either new players, or semi-new players like myself. If you already have lots of good gear and can get us geared in 30 minutes, then you're not who i'm looking to play with. I know most the basics of the game and don't mind helping new players out at all if you plan to stick with me as a friend. 6. Death! This is very important. I don't mind dying and I want to find friends who don't mind dying as well. I could die 30 times in a day and it wouldn't bother me. Of course I want to survive longer and get gear but getting reset isn't a problem. I actually find the beginning of the game pretty fun when you're running through an active city trying to find gear and stay alive. 7. Ultimate goals- Ultimately, I'd like to move north, raid miliatary camps/airfields. However, I don't want to rush it. I like going through the big cities/farms to find all our basic survival supplies first. 8. Have a working mic- Please have a mic so we can voice chat. We can use skype to communicate. 9. Navigation/Exploration- I do use an online map to help navigate and will be using it to find cities/military camps/airfields/crash sites. I hate wondering aimlessly. I'm all for exploration but you can get lost in the woods for hours and not find a single thing. If we are going somewhere, I want to have a destination in mind. 10. I see myself as a pretty casual player. I play because I enjoy the game and think it can be a lot of fun when played smart. I'm not an elitist, I won't blame you if I die and I expect the same curtiousy. I'm also not playing just to smell the roses, I want to make progression and have pvp skirmishes. Play style: 1. My ethics on banditry- I won't ever kill an unarmed person. I also won't shoot to kill unless we are under attack. If we run into others with guns, I'd like to play safe and tactical but not engage unless attacked. You must have this type of mindset as well, I don't want to play with you if you're going to open fire on others just because they have a gun. 2. Views on combat- I'm not familiar with military tactics but I would like to play tactical. This means we cover each other, take high grounds, scout areas, communicate locations, etc. 3. PVP zones- In general, I don't condone KoS. However, I believe military zones such as airfields, crash sites, and even military guardstands should be treated as active pvp zones. When we come across these areas, they are battlefields and will be treated as such. The people at these areas are generally armed very well and dangerous. 4. Squad makeup- I prefer sniping. If I have the choice between long range and close quarter combats, I will choose long range. I like to be that guy who keeps a lookout. I don't mind if you're the exact type of player or if we get a 4 man group with 4 snipers. It would be nice to have a close quarters guy who isn't afraid to go into buildings first while we watch your back. If you don't want to be that guy then no worries, I can be the close range guy or we can all be long ranged :P -
A sandbox isn't defined by the number of possibilities within the created world, it's defined by your ability to do anything you want within the world at a given time using the tools available. Just because there aren't as many possibilities as you'd like, doesn't mean it's any less of a sandbox. I want to fly around on a dragon and use teleportation but since I can't do that, it doesn't mean the game isn't a sandbox.

How to team up with your friend, any good hints ?
jmido8 replied to Hellfire76's topic in New Player Discussion
When you first spawn the bottom right corner of your screen will tell you where you are. It only stays up for 1-2 seconds when you first spawn so make sure you pay attention. Use http://dayzdb.com/map to find where you both are. If you aren't near each other. Just have someone keep respawning until you're near each other. Then you both just follow the coast until you run into each other. If you both stay on the coast water line you shouldn't miss your friend. -
99% of the time, if the person has a gun, they kill on sight. It doesn't matter if you use voice chat or if you type friendly, or even if you are unarmed. They will kill you. The only chance you have of not getting kos is to kos yourself or turn tail and run, hoping you don't take an arrow to the knee.

Surprise! You can own both a console and PC. Console pros: -Has some good exclusive titles like gears of war, halo, etc. -A majority of my real life friends play on console so I can play with them (I don't know about you but 9/10 of my friends only own a console PC pros: -Mod support for games make them 10000x better than the console (just take dayz for example) -The lifespan of games on a PC tends to be longer (just look at cod1/2, they still have thousands of people playing a day) -While a good PC is a lot more expensive than a console, you're going to save hundreds and hundreds of dollars on PC games because of steam sales. -Gotta mention mod support again because it's really what makes the PC great. -Lots of PC games get more attention than their console counter part.. TF2 for example is huge on the PC but dead on console. Same with other good titles like L4D2. -While not true for all games, some PC games give DLC's for free which won't ever happen on console -PC games get updated much quicker and often than console games since they dont have to jump through hoops with microsoft

Hatchet is overpowered but necessary
jmido8 replied to SpeechMan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Aggro'd zombies should give out a battle call if you don't kill them fast enough. This way, if you're using your hatchet instead of mowing them down with guns, you'll still attract extra zombies from afar. It'll put a heavier emphasis on stealth and survival since there is no easy way to handle zombies, aka the hatchet. -
not found a single drink in since starting
jmido8 replied to tfninja's topic in New Player Discussion
Look up an online map of Dayz and find a big city. You'll find so many sodas and water botles that you'll just leave them on the ground. -
Useful Gear to play with, like mics, mice and skype etc.
jmido8 replied to Sula's topic in New Player Discussion
As far as I know, skype is still free as long as you connect with other people using skype. It isn't very buggy from my experience either but it's really only good for small conversations (6-8 people max). If you plan on hosting a clan, you'd be best to invest in a vent/teamspeak server. -
What kind of error are you getting? It's possible the servers have updated to the new version of the game and you haven't yet. Or vise versa, you have upgraded to new version and the servers haven't.

I'm actually pretty surprised at this mod as well. I never played arma 2 so I watched a lot of videos on the dayz mod/arma 2 before buying it. The videos put me off of this game completely. I watched one guy run around for an hour and do almost nothing and I thought, why the hell would I want to play such a slow paced, boring game? But then arma 2 had a steam sale and I thought why not give it a try for just a few dollars. Needless to say, i'm addicted and love the survival/slow paced style of this game.

Something odd happened. The other day I had a map and when I pressed M to bring it up, it was just a map and didn't it didn't give my location or anything. However, today when I got on, not only did it show me where I was on the map, but it showed nearby enemies on my map as well. Is the map supposed to do that? I defiantly didn't have a gps.

Lol I just learned about the backpack yesterday. Took me about 15 hours of gameplay to finally figure out and I didn't even figure it out on my own. My brother discovered it and clued me in.
