Well... useally a server owner has a job, so he can afford the server. Due to his job he will not have the time to play 24h a day like all those without a job. And you are going to tell those ppl, what they are allowed to do? You must be kidding. Actually here is what you, as server admin, are allowed to do: 1) Pay for the server! 2) Edit the server discription! THATS IT!

I have to agree with Interex and ah yeah... another hosting provider getting sued within the next few weeks. To the thread starter: get your own server, pay for it and stop moaning!

People pay for their servers. Without having them pay for their servers, you wont have a backend for all the users. If you like to have a free to play game with your rules, you must provide your own servers. So this is a clear NO To all those players crying here: "All servers must be open" and "All your servers belongs to us" and "You, as serveradmin, have not the right to do that and that": BUY YOUR OWN SERVER! You cant? Well... better shut up though.

Server Rules Feel free to play on our server as you like. Still, there are some rules you have to respect or take the consequences. Here are the details: cheating = perma ban + report to the devs hacking = perma ban + report to the devs ghosting = 1 day ban disconnecting whilst pvp = 7 days ban exploiting = 7 days ban Restarts Restarts will be performed manually. The server will remain locked for up to 5 minutes after a restart to ensure everythin will be loaded properly.

I have to agree with the starter of this thread. Wirefencing is a pain in the but and makes the game unplayable for me. Even the flush command does not work for me. My graphic card is a ATI Radeon 6950.

Completly agreed! Actually this is a tactical shooter with mmorpg aspects. Switching servers like discribed above is actually exploiting and must be honored with a ban! Not a global ban, but a ban!

I agree, but regarding the rules you are not allowed to do so. Thats why I suggest a review.

Just to let you know: I am a lawyer IRL, so I guess I know what I am talking about. Actually I am a lawyer in Germany :) But lets stay on the topic: I agree with some rules for whitlisting servers, just like ranked servers. But in my opinion the rules are way too harsh. Specially the game is in alpha stage. I.e. we encountered problems with ppl joining right after the resart of a server, with the result the db was not loaded properly. This let to item loss and people were complaining. Regarding the rules you are not allowed to lock your server.... never ever. TBH regarding the database issue this is not practicable. In addition we are still facing lag spikes when ppl are connecting into the game. So nearly everybody freezes and makes him vunerable to all other players. We still havent figured out, why we are getting this kind of lag spikes. One idea is, the hive is overloaded. Yes and no. Unless everything is according to national law, yes. But regarding the servers located in Germany this is not the case. So the contract is illegal, at least in some parts. Anyway this should not get into a legal discussion.

We are running a server too and the whole team got killed by a hacker. Once we arrived at our bodies, we had ghilie siutes and satchel charges in the inventory.... any questions? No good, cause I want to explain something: The cheating and hacking stuff ist ruinning the game completly. PPL who actually play fair, are alot of time to get the gear and by a second everything is gone cause of a hacker. Result: at one point ppl are getting frustrated and stop playing the game. This is only possible due to the DayZ server rules not allowing to lock or password protect servers.
