ROFL Ben you fucking shot your patient? :D Was that like: - "I am sorry, its a terminal disease, i cannot cure you. There is only one last thing i can do for you. *BAM!*" sorry but this made my day, i laughed so hard my colleagues came looking at my screen :D To everyone: Ben is a great medic, and if you're staving he'll also fix you up with some tasty steak. I assure you, the mortality rate of his patients is rather low lol..

Basic rules for Trades - "Lonewolf" and "Group" versions
Element47 replied to paxtonmega's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
my beans for you. re trading groups: those should maybe follow the medics' example and coordinate their efforts in one coherent thread. edit: i think you misunderstand the meaning of those rules. -
it seems prevalent in coastal towns, although i experienced it near NWAF. adding heavy smoke clouds to cherno (or the large cities in general) is an awesome idea though. Temba, his arms wide. beans for that.

Tent Disappearance Epidemic
Element47 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
you are at the verge of quitting alpha-testing because you found a bug? leaves me kind of puzzled. the whole point of the mod/game having public alpha is to gather massive community feedback on both features and bugs.. you should actually feel a sense of accomplishment and success. -
Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

@SoulShaper: i read AARs. Keep them coming, they're a proof of humanity in this forsaken world. -
Trading antibiotics for something rare
Element47 replied to ixtilion's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
donate it to the medics and you'll get something quite rare in exchange: gratitude of a fellow player. -

@Cereal_Killer you seem to have been busy AND you're not far away. Wanna resupply? i need to be off soon and am eager to get rid of all that supplies as long as im alive :) -
Need Medical Assistance? We can help.
Element47 replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i am sitting in the woods just south of stary/novy sobor loaded with blood and morphine. any medic in the area who needs to resupply? (edit says: 'in the area' means not entirely on the edge of the map. if you're a bit farther away, we can meet halfway) -
Are there still friendly Survivor?
Element47 replied to milch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i was equipped with a ghillie and a M16A2 while making my way towards berezino, to get supplies. military gear is not necessarily a sign of evil intentions. of course, trusting the other guy wont shoot might get you killed more often - but imho its worth the times when both happen to be friendly.. -
i lol'd so hard my wife came running to see what happened. 'laz was eaten alive' - 'we got a new recruit anyway'.

Why can't we feast of human flesh?
Element47 replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
one answer: rating. despite all the fun, the mod (or later standalone game) needs to remain marketable. i'd rather harvest all that white 'shrooms... for 'medical purposes' *cough* -
not these days. always. being friendly has always been harder and on many levels less rewarding. its the reality of our life. compare the actions and rewards of aid organisations and mercenaries in battle zones. in this regard, this mod remarkably succeeds at realism.

I support the OP suggestion. pulling the hatchet from your belt shouldnt be different from pulling a pistol from its holster. also, keeping 10 free slots in your backpack just to be able to use your hatchet if the need arises is kind of.. counterintuitive.. of course you could drop your primary to the ground everytime you want to equip the hatchet, but then you need to stay in place otherwise you might lose it. add two-handed luberjack axes and i agree those go into the primary slot, but the hatchet as a tool should be more accessible.

Can somebody PLEASE tell me what the FU*K just happened? Part 2
Element47 replied to Rudie (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
fair enough. on a related note, do you think the forums are ripe for a "We need to be able to harvest mushrooms so vegetarians can survive in the woods. Could also be used for 'medical purposes'" suggestion thread? -
Can somebody PLEASE tell me what the FU*K just happened? Part 2
Element47 replied to Rudie (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
you kill cutey wabbits? you, sir, are indeed the fucking rudest buddhist i ever met. bad karma. -
tl;dr version: 1. clothing needs more diversity 2. zombie loot needs to be reworked to raise the incentive to hunt Z. my opinion: #1 interesting but low priority, this definitely falls into the "finish gameplay first, add fun content later" category #2 agreed, especially for some "special" zombie variants like former military personnel

Wolf Zombies in woods and the ability to leave notes.
Element47 replied to munchy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
notes would be awesome. 'nuff said. would add a whole layer of immersion, as currently the only way of organizing among survivors are the forums. -
"Sorry you may have been a friend, you just weren't worth the risk"
Element47 replied to Gogster (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Harder Z wont change it. People will still KoS, maybe even more, because it will then be easier to get gear by killing another player than by scavenging loot spawns. -
EU11 - hacker spawning stuff on berezino coastline
Element47 replied to Gunni (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
this is wrong in so many ways, i dont even know where to begin. i try simple words. a server provider cant do shit if a server administrator runs programs which are exploitable. there are two possible solutions: not running exploitable software (in this case, not running a DayZ server) or patching the software to be less exploitable (which is what the developers of ArmA, DayZ, and BattleEye constantly do). A pre-release version is by design more prone to exploits, and the highly customizable nature of ArmA as basis of the DayZ mod offers a multitude of attack vectors for malevolent individuals (ok, im not good with simple words) tl;dr: its the software, not the server guys, endure it or wait for a more secured version. to the OP: at least he aint throwing battleships B) -
no offense meant, but this thread lacks originality. you state a valid opinion, and you are not alone. there are other people who share your point of view. so i will answer to you what i answer them: look at Survivor HQ and you will see, that there is a significant amount of people trying to do the right thing, helping each other, organizing - basically enjoying the game by playing it as the good guys. what i really value about this game is, that it doesnt provide you with prescripted missions, objectives, some fixed end-game content. the end-game is, what you make it to be. for some, end-game is trolling noobs by spawncamping. for me, the end-game is running supply operations from south to north. for some, its operating a network of medics who help people all over the map, no matter if geared out or fresh, no matter if bandit or friendly. if this level of autonomy is too much for you, then this game is by design not for you. thats not bad: it would be horrible if everyone liked the same things, and we would lose all diversity.

What the hell happened to night servers?
Element47 replied to aesaunic's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
being gangraped in a darkroom? not my cup of tea, thanks. wakling the highlands on a starry night, watching the landscape in the moonlight is awesome. but with full cloud cover, cranking brightness and gamma to full only helps to know whether im looking at the sky or the ground. its not enjoyable to me. -
Are there still friendly Survivor?
Element47 replied to milch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
the medic thread in Survivor HQ is proof that friendlies indeed do exist. in the few days i play i met people who would login and walk for an hour over the map just to bring me some food and a morphine shot. even though they know that i probably die the next day. without asking something in return. i stand by my assessment - for every backstabbing bandit there is one survivor who wants to do the right thing. sometimes its hard, sometimes its kill or be killed. but there isnt only darkness. can you see the light? oh wait, wrong franchise.. anyway - friendlies exist. and some dont even hide :) -
I'm tired of not finding vehicles
Element47 replied to davidecibel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
im not even two weeks playing and already found two. well, one of them found me - i got run over by some bastard while taking a dump in the woods. the other time i run into a defunct bus which stood in the doorway of the Elektro church. I also sincerely doubt i would like to have a vehicle. shit blows up, people can hear you from miles away, and sometimes they even break your bones like some friggin doorway. its more secure running naked through cherno than driving a vehicle through the highlands. -
excellent post. pretty much my experience as well, even to the point that i think the crowbar is awesome. It was the tool of choice for my first zombie kill in the game and i still think fondly back to that moment.

first a disclaimer - I have tried searching for similar posts, i might have missed something, if so, my apologies. i suggest a 15-20 second timer upon logout. during this time, the player character remains vulnerable to damage, bleeding, being spotted by players or infected, basically to all game mechanics - has however no possibility to react except aborting the logout to regain control of his character. thus, there is no incentive to logout/exit/alt-f4/pull the cable when in danger to escape threatening game mechanics. it will reward searching for a safe place to "rest" and punish people who use disconnect from the server to escape. such a solution may jeopardize your character if you suffer connection loss caused by network or server issues - this is however the case with about every online game, and generally accepted.
