Rough Couple Of Days For Medics
Element47 replied to turkeybacon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
because its probably one of the worst places to have a car breakdown, especially when you got hackers on your heels its an epic story of bravery, sacrifice, a new hope, and for the final crescendo: fucking anti-aircraft guns being spawned against our air cavalry coming to rescue us.. -
Rough Couple Of Days For Medics
Element47 replied to turkeybacon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well Saucy, we had a FUBAR kind of day recently, too, right? ;) "One does not simply drive into Kamyshovo..." -
you need to answer for yourself, who do you want to be. do you want to be that menace who kills others just 'for shitz n gigglz'? or do you seek a more co-op gameplay experience? the choice is yours, and if you read the "Bandit Campfire" subforum, you will find that being a backstabbin baddie gives satisfaction to a lot of people, whom i wont judge upon their choice.. if you want to be friendly, i can tell you that taking the risk to trust people is definitely worth it. yes, you will be shot. you will lose your gear. but you will also make friends, find people to play with, and thus get the opportunity to experience things you might otherwise miss. everytime i seek out a patient, i have to trust that he wont to pay me with a bullet.. so far, every single one i met was more than grateful, all the gear i currently have i have got gifted from either patients or fellow medics whom i worked with.. i have died to glitches, hackers and bandits, i have been shot unconcious by a scared guy who didnt want to take chances, but it been all worth it. i have been saved by fellow survivors more often than i have died, people walked across the whole map to bring me morphine or food, i have been extracted from the wilderness by airborne ghilliewookies or crazy medics who drive their UAZ like Ken Fucking Block (you hear me SoulShaper?).. i have been picked up at respawn by merciful mercenaries who not only gave me a lift but also geared me up again.. long story short: trust is risk, but it pays off in the end.. its on you to make the choice who you want to be, and how you want to impact others: with humanity, or with a killing blow

Zombies should be removed from DayZ
Element47 replied to Professional N00b's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i totally agree. also, the whole random loot spawn thing is totally unnecessary and unfair. weapons should always be available. like, totally. -
the game is a mirror of our life. the good things are sometimes harder to spot. i once stated, that i am convinced that for every one backstabbing asshat, there is at least one player who wants to do the right thing. of course he may still shoot you, out of sheer paranoia.. my current character is 12 days old and during these days about every person i encountered was kind and friendly. i have got "end-game" gear gifted from grateful patients, and i have been driven in jeeps and flewn in helicopters by people who just wanted to help out. i have been contacted through steam by strangers who just wanted to bring me medical supplies. strangers logged into the game for me, just to run across the map for half an hour to save me from starving. my worst encounter during these 12 days was, when i crawled towards the supermarket in elektro and got shot in the face by a guy who just left the store. he shot me unconcious, not dead, and he didnt loot my when he ran past my body. i am sure he shot only out of fear i would shoot him first. too bad that when you look at someone, you point your gun at him at the same time ;) there are many great stories from these last 12 days, i met a load of decent people, and had a blast all of the time.. for instance i know of a band of brothers who like to roll through the highlands in their car, blasting greenday or metallica and singing along, and ocassionally healing wounded surivors or giving a lift across the map.. long story short, you're doing it right, and dont let the negative experiences get to you, as there is much good fun to be had in this game.

Why is a high ping so BAD?
Element47 replied to {N3RD2} HazardousJJ's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
with the general sync issues, player lag is probably the least problem. i seen players kicked for a ping of 140, thats slightly over the top.. -
Reddit Rescue Force Gets Royally Served
Element47 replied to 62nd's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
the main and unique point of the game is choice. although i do not walk the path of the bandit, i have no disrespect for those who do, if they dont grief newbs or exploit the game. setting up camp in one of the main cities is asking for trouble, and its always temporary. if the counter-operation ran as described above, 62nd deserve beans from their fellow bandits, for a well planned and executed op. a salute from the carebear team- 54 replies

I'm with Terry Pratchetts theory here, that a persons sanity is inversely proportional to the number of exclamation marks they use.. other than that, if you're afraid to lose your gear, dont go to NWAF.. dont leave the forest at all.. best is, you make a screenshot of your inventory and make it your desktop wallpaper, and never log in again..

not sure if troll or just very stupid. telport is a hack, not an admin tool. you are asking for an exploit on the forums.

Game got boring real quick without Side Chat
Element47 replied to Shotgunned's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
a great thing about this sandbox is, that it forces people to take initiative, to organize themselves. forums and voip are pretty good substitutions for leaving notes and establishing radio contact, features which are not implemented (yet) side chat however, a global interaction medium available to you from the start? thats just crap. so you're on the shore, alone, with a bandage and a flashlight.. oh and this wonderful gadget which allows you magically to talk and listen to everyone on the map, now isnt that convenient.. social interaction is not missing from the game, its just not served to you on a silver platter while you sit on your thumbs and gape at the screen.. i have had no issue with interaction when going into hot areas, i could alway communicate with my colleagues and my patients, and the overwhelming majority of people i met were friendly and grateful for the help provided.. screw side-chat. i gladly wait for a possible implementation of persistent notes/journals and/or radio system.. -
recruit servers have location-tracking enabled.. on "normal" servers, its a bit more realistic. having a map doesnt mean you have automatically GPS location tracking telling you where you are, you need to read the map and check landmarks or close cities.. so, your map is working as intended..

Need Medical Assistance? We can help.
Element47 replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
you'd need to deinstall the game, reinstall it anew, and then patch only to the version you want, and not beyond. its probably only viable if your home server doesn't update in near future. -
Murdering people with the enfield.
Element47 replied to Sister Fister's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
pretty good starter weapon. i personally prefer the winchester, because imo its more versatile, even if enfield outperforms it in some points. as for best banditry weapon, i would argue thats its a matter of personal preference. if OP has most fun with the enfield, its the best gun for him. i am rather fond of the m24, even though i lost mine due to an unfortunate incident at the NWAF *cough* on a side note, FFS turn off your tv when you are recording a video for youtube. especially when its as obnoxious as in the first vid. -

post a video of someone who is good at shooting, then we can evaluate. -
Can I stop my server at night when none of my moderators are playing?
Element47 replied to commandercaleb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
the question is, whats the point? object-location hacks work by reading the process memory, so you cant help it anyway by "moderating", either BattlEye detects it by RPM pattern scans or not. You can analyze server logs for some noobs invoking scripts, but thats about all. By turning the server off half the time, you, and the regular players on your server probably lose more than what you gain. -
this would work well with the suggestion of Z packs wildly roaming the countryside..

Getting instantly Kicked sometimes
Element47 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
BattlEye seems to be a bit sensitive regarding latency.. i witnessed players being kicked for high ping during loading screen (~180 ms) although the server browser listed a much lower response time.. so a lag spike during loading sometimes earns you a kick.. -
my inbox exploded yesterday with medical emergencies in the NW area, so i cant really relate to your experience. my impression was, that even on a lowest-pop server with 3 players, two of them will be camping/looting NWAF

Instead of creating groups: Finding clothes with colors
Element47 replied to Ha1's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
gang colours? :D i am pretty sure a diversity of clothing will be included in the stand-alone. i think it would also be a pretty viable idea for a micro-transaction model.. -
Whats the best place just to kill random zombies without attracting bandits?
Element47 replied to rollo23's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
my recipe for raking up Z kills: run around a larger vilalge and city, then into a building. stand in the door and hatchet away while the whole population lines up in front of the door. regarding town coice: every town with a significant Z population also has enough loot spawns to attract a wandering bandit. you might want to check Berezino though, i heard its more calm there. EDIT: not sure if troll or plain.... -
Left hand: pinky on capslock to keep mic open, AWSD-running with index. middle and ring finger. Right hand: running direction and axe-bashing with mouse. How do you play? EDIT: lol & high five @ panda and gg88 =)
