welcome back Kyono! i have been away for a few months, too, and returned recently.. there are a few new toys, and if you're like me, you will avoid reading the changelog and just enjoy the exploration of new things, and be awed when you suddenly find them :D i have only once encountered a hacker since i returned, and that motherless bastard exchanged my alice pack full of gorgeous windscreens for a friggin coyote with crap loot in it (DMR, NVG, GPS, shit like that) - how was i supposed to fix a chopper with a GPS??? anyways, other than that, things were fine.. there is a fuckton of private hives now with the most obscene modifications (25000 vehicles, Asswipe Script, new characters spawn with GPS, NVG and 6 Diapers), pay-for-loot schemes emerged among unscrupulous server admins, stuff like that.. generally, the game is still fun, there are still fucktards around, but also a good share of friendlies or neutral players..

You will be shot in your face. Repeatedly. And you will be shot in your back. Do not give in though, because if you become a soulless husk, hostile to anybody, you are not more than the infected.

i usually dont. i will go so far as to repeatedly identify myself as a neutral medic and offer assistance. if however there is a known hostile in the area, i might shoot to kill. btw: i am not the only medic who happens to wear a ghillie and a DMR when going out ;) not every bushwookie is a hostile.

tent city on skalisty, must have been in late summer last year.. roughly 30 tents, with dozens of each possible weapon (including i think eight AS50 TWS), radios, mountain dews, two tents full of satchel charges, 5 tents full with jerry cans.. used that tent city for a few weeks to regear and fix choppers until the server went down.. other than that, found a fortified tent city on north-eastern edge once, must have been a hundred sandbags to fortify it.. maybe fifteen tents, but only normal average loot.. assault rifles, grenades, satchel charges, tank traps, sandbags etc.

pointless video is pointless... server-hopping for loot has been around since the beginning.. if you need a youtube video to figure that mechanic out, you have more serious issues than the lack of tents and sardine cans...

had a lengthy shootout with a bandit after he killed my friend.. was shaking with adrenaline.. and then shot my friend who returned to pick up his gear, and arrived much earlier than anticipated due to getting a heli ride most of the way..

It seems every server invite post is cut from the same cookie press! It seems they all offer.. too much but totally disqualifying for me: donator perks and comic sans.

easiest way? use dayzcommander, select "DayZ only" in dropdown, check "Hide unofficial"

i usually bring eight jerrycans, this allows to reach a nice refuel point in the area. also, not all windscreens need to be repaired, i have a Mil with Glass4-Glass6 in red condition and it still doesnt leak. I cant 100% say though which exact windscreens _need_ to be repaired though, so its always better to fix them all.

one of the main reasons why DayZ has become such a success, the reason why many of us are playing it regularly, is its harshness in a market, where every game is dumbed down and babysitting its players. i agree that Zed need to become much harder and deadlier. Nevertheless my #1 death reason are zombies, #2 is starvation/dehydration because of my stupidity rushing into field without provisions. And i dont hide for days in the woods, i am constantly scouring larger cities for medical and industrial supplies. it also instills that sweet paranoia. you actually feel vulnerable. this is the adrenaline rush that so many of us love about this game. also, meeting a survivor at the coast or in a coastal city who is NOT hostile is so much more rewarding. if you take this away, you will break the game. this game is not for everyone. only average things appeal to a vast majority, great things are almost always polarizing. the concept of dayz has spawned a great community, with proud and honorable bandit clans, with evil and ruthless gangs, but also with dedicated and compassionate medic groups, trading organisations or transport enterprises. if anything, this game needs to become harder and deadlier again.

i rather be killed 9 of 10 times but that one time of ten meet another friendly survivor and run a bit with him then to give in to the paranoia and asshatery that is behind most of the KoS mentality.. i still respect the choice of those players who choose to play as bandits - but as many people stated, there is a difference between banditry and griefing
