LHE is a talented writer, i thoroughly enjoy his posts. but this isnt answering your question. why a are people hostile towards new members? i think its a deep human thing. established members of a community identify thermselves with, and draw entitlement from it - denying participation to new members. the same reason why members of a country built upon immigration can act hostile towards immigrants. bottom line: people are asshats. not all, but some are. the art of living happy is ignoring the asshats in your life, and cherishing the great experiences. dont play during a storm. its not different if you lose power/internet while flying a chopper, many of us has been there. i recall a particularly funny adventure where we had a huey FULL of people, and a bad bulb killed the electricity in our pilots home - BOOM half a dozen medics dead in the burning forest.. shit happens, deal with it. i am absolutely in favor of death penalty when logging while captive. anything less punishing will lead to abuse

i suspect many of the core community who might be scatterred across mods and/or other games will get the SA, if for nostalgic reasons alone.. so this alone will bring ppl together again, and then its all about community dynamics and how attractive the SA really will be to the crowd.. i really hope it will be nightmarishly harsh, while at the same time making surviving for a longer period sufficiently rewarding
