"to repay in kind" means, to act back in the same way. your skin aside - you were friendly, you expected him to be friendly in return. he wasn't, but instead he betrayed you. Disappointment. There are no rules of conduct in DayZ apart of those which people negotiate between themselves - and there is no ingame mechanic to enforce such arbitrary rules. this is the very core of DayZ. every encounter between strangers is full of tension, and though it has the potential for massive disappointment, it also carries the incredibly rewarding possibility of people getting along despite lack of rules and enforcement. EDIT: actually, the whole incident is a non-issue. it could be summed up as: "I armed a stranger, he shot me in the back" - "lol, welcome to DayZ"

so you expected your friendliness to be repayed in kind. and you were disappointed. welcome to life. ok, that may sound cynical - but thats one of the things i actually like about DayZ - it brings all these aspects of human personality right to the front. as a medic, we had people who we brought from the brink of death and who then turned on us - a very small percentage, but still happened. so if people turn on hero medics who just healed them, how is it surprising when some turn on bandits who were nice to them? the reasons behind such actions are diverse, from pure asshattery over lack of understanding to paranoia.. but its that diversity that keeps the game entertaining for many.. as someoone wonderfully put it in another thread: you dont get a bandit skin for huggin' lots of kittens.

because anyway, as a carebear who wants the hardcore, i doubt the SA -can- suck. See, if you have the proper mindset, simple things like tetris can be tremendous fun. The mod introduced me to Deans vision, and since i share it, i will enjoy whatever he finally publishes. It surely will have room for improvement, it surely will have moments of frustration. But i will enjoy it nevertheless, the same way you enjoy life despite the fact that there are days when you step into dog shit. If you have too high expectations and lack the tolerance to cope with disappointment, it will suck for you. If you lack ambiguity tolerance, it will suck for you If you expect SimZ, it will suck for you. If you expect vehicular combat and dog companions who fight for you, you will probably be disappointed. If you enjoy survival-oriented games which do not hold hand too much, it surely has the potential to not suck for you, though

im pretty rare ingame now due to work&family, and for me, DayZ is not a game to jump in for twenty minutes.. but i was in more often recently, and enjoyed it totally

i haven't found a tent since the changes to the tents hit, but if i am informed correctly, you cant hide your tents inside map objects anymore..

well, the current object interaction in armaII/dayz mod is probably the most awkward i have ever seen.. binding a hotkey to "fastgrab" an item into your main inventory container seems logical, but binding keys for every single possible container? might be nice to have as a possibility, together with 150 other actions that we modern gamers like to have keybound :P

lets say you are exceptionally (surprisingly?) vocal when it comes to these stories.. as this does not align with how I (and maybe others) percieve you usually, it raises suspicion of purposeful controversy (trolling) or unusual emotional response (butthurt) never mind, i mean no offense... and by now i actually expect your 'rage' 'in the comments as added bonus to the coldhearted murder stories of LHE :)
