i know people who have been buying boxed games for twenty years, as a principle, because they like to have the box on the shelf, the physical connection to the medium. they usually have only one or two games in origin, uplay or steam, only because that one game was so convincing and offered no alternative that they had to install that dedicated game-distribution client. Punish them? yes, really genius.

lulz. this must be troll. i skipped through your video. you made a one-hour video without narration and without annotation on how to get to the airfield? no references to starting point, no description of landmarks, you merely whip out the compass occasionally? this is the most obscene waste of bandwidth and time since the ten hour video of a cat photo humming a bieber song:

How long do you wait if pinned down?
Element47 replied to kieran0saurusrex's topic in General Discussion
level playing field means that everyone involved has the same means at his disposal, and the advantage arises from wisely using this means to gain an upper hand. this is true for 1st and 3rd person view. as fr the topical question: until server restart  -
was it Hicks?

this threads come over and over again. its a sandbox, it is whatever you make out of it. if you lack imagination, you will get bored. go play a more structured game. i had much more friendly encounters than hostile. this morning i watched one of my favorite streamers stumble upon a fully geared player in the milbase, who then led him to a place where the akm was. despite the streamer telling him he has a drum mag for it. they played for some time together until parting ways at balota.. half of the viewers where "omg he is setting you up, kill him" all the time. thankfully he didnt listen to them. if you act shifty and mistrust people, then people will mistrust you. if you act selfconfident but polite and friendly, much more people will be willing to return this stance. being friendly in DayZ is incredibly more rewarding than shooting everyone, because you dont miss out on those moments when the other guy is friendly too. sometimes i get the feeling that half of the community is "ermagerd gaem is so fukd up every1 is shooting!" while at the same time "dood dont trust anyone kill everyone dat only way to survive i swear herp derp". you get killed no matter what you do. if you try to be friendly, you may better the experience for you and others. if you only act hostile, you rob yourself of a large portion of the fun.

Can this game replace your real life :/

i helped you by motivating you to help yourself. me dying of starvation just 200m away from you empowered you to grow and overcome your situation yourself. and you learned to never underestimate hunger in this game you're welcome :) -

Can this game replace your real life :/

its sometimes really strange. i sometimes spend long stretches of time alone, in the woods. when im close to starvation, i go out and loot a few houses, and maybe the one or other random guy who had the misfortune of crossing my path. and then, suddenly, i think: what the fuck are you doing with your life and my conscience gets me. and then i return home, play the game as a medic, and all is well, and i am the hero. and then i can go out into the woods for another week. -
do you have geforce experience installed? it used to FUBAR on me. I have significantly less issues since i uninstalled it. as for dayz, i play on exp and have very few crashes. game sometimes dies when i alt-tab too often.

i need this: thats me in basically every game with an inventory.

i'm a loot whore. i carry a magnum, an engraved 1911 and a P1 because i like all of them and cant leave one behind. apart of that: my medic on stable usually has three first aid kits stuffed with bandages, saline bags and iv kits. my 'adventurer' on exp usually has 4 canteens/water bottles, a diverse sortiment of foods, several can openers, matches, compasses, etc. my clothing pockets are filled with ammo/snacks/rags. yes i carry a lot of spare items because you never know when you meet someone who is in dire need of supplies. i find helping them more enjoyable than shooting at people. but thats just me.

Icehockey/Floorball stick bags for storing another primary weapon
Element47 replied to tribaste's topic in Suggestions
balancing downsides is still possible. as stated, the crafting itself can change the amount of slots available. you could as well adjust the time it takes to open it. that can be all tuned independently of the backpack model as part of the crafting process. i understand your approach though, and i dont think its not a good one. i just think mine is better :P - that said, i see one significant difference between our ideas: by limiting spawn rates of such a specialized backpack you could seriously limit its availability, while my idea would offer the choice of sacrificing inventory space for a gun sling to everyone. whats better/preferable is quite probably depending on personal preference. . -
the issue arises from the fact that Matt & Dean cant easily be objectified into a mere datastream. Because majic. and reasons.

ah, the tent cities of pobeda. i was like a huge shopping mall.

You can have "social elements" with people that you need, like with people in mmoprg when you need them to raid some dungeon with. Having "social elements" with random players that you meet in DayZ is like having social elements with mosquitoes or cockroaches. awwww, you poor, poor soul. the only solace is, that you quite probably have not the slightest idea about how much you miss out. not that it would make it less miserable. im sorry, man. i didnt know. im so sorry for you.

Icehockey/Floorball stick bags for storing another primary weapon

i support the idea, not out of necessity but diversity. i am against a dedicated backpack though. rather, make it a crafting recipe: rope + <any backpack> = backpack with gunsling -> crafting allows shouldering of a second rifle, removes set amount of slots from the backpack. thus you could modifiy any backpack to attach another rifle and have it appropriately balanced by removing a sufficient amount of inventory slots. and we wouldnt need new backpack model. -
How will you play, Hardcore or Standard
Element47 replied to WashedUpPoet's topic in General Discussion
we play both kinds of music here, country AND western currently exp regular and exp hardcore. mostly hardcore when playing alone because i enjoy it more. but it depends with whom i play. as for the whole 1st vs 3rd clusterfuck: yes it is different. it allows to see more than in first person, which gives you more freedom of action - but this is true for all involved, so in combat encounters, you also have to account for your opponent "seeing more" too - this makes things not always easier. i see it more like a 'tactical' view, and it has its place in the whole of DayZ. and 3rd person view is definitely more fun to watch on a stream than 1st. -
welcome to a sandbox. despite your claim, i have taken part in a bookclub, i have been on two disco parties, i have met traders, i made friends with the 'shoeless freak' and a few other, highly irregular gentlemen, each of them being highly entertaining and making my play session worthwhile, i have run supply runs and medic runs, we had photo safaris for the most stunning sunrise/sunset picture in chernarus.. and thats me playing only casually. of course i also had a few shootings, from random potshots of people who just want to not be shot themselves to ruthless roof snipers, who in turn made several strangers band together to overcome the common threat. and if you look at MMOs with open pvp. or multiplayer games which allow pvp/friendly fire, you will always have people shooting each other - no matter how many other possible objectives or things to do there are.

if you are waiting for quests, you're playing the wrong game. seriously though, if im not playing dayz, im watching dayz live streams on twitch, and it confirms my impression: pvp is a core aspect, but there is sufficient co-op experience in the game, with random strangers, and its highly rewarding. I had plenty of friendly encounters, maybe even more than in the mod. When Doc Wasteland started the medic thing in 2012, it was so gamechanging to DayZ that it blew peoples mind, because no one dreamed of expecting friendly behaviour. we have come a long way since then. last random encounter: i had a box-fight with two zombies in the police station of the new large city in the north. a random stranger ran in, and knocked me unconcious. i was sure this was the end, but then i heard him apologize in length, as he though i was punching another player. after he realized that i was defending myself from the infected, and his knockout was not a just thing to do, he waited until i regained conciousness guarding my body, and gave me food, drink, a can opener and a first aid kit before sending me on my way. i never knew his name, and never saw him again, but him sitting and guarding my body in the door of the police station, this has made the whole play session worth it. of course i also was oneshot on my way acrosse the fields between elektro and cherno the other day. but if it wasnt for this danger, for the thrill, this game would be so boring. not everyone is a killer - but those who are, make my game experience thrilling, and they make the friendly encounters so much more rewarding. i am grateful for both.
