action-movie-blazing-guns-in-all-directions or generally holding a separate item in each hand?

we owe it to ArmAs superb realism, that we cannot hold a can of soda and a chocolate bar at the same time. i hope it will be implemented down the road.

Holy hell! Red glowing bullet firing hacker gun?!
Element47 replied to jcrose803's topic in General Discussion
been there. once. never played video games on acid again. -
Could the devs do a quick topic (and pin it) re: often suggested ideas that will never happen.
Element47 replied to Roshi (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
yeah, we definitely need a "Popular requests that NEVER gonna happen" thread pinned, for the sake of freshspawns and vets alike.. -
Running on rough terrain, sprained or broken ankles, boots and making adequate light useful/essential...
Element47 replied to Roshi (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
complex... but quite intriguing. would like to see it implemented somewhere down the road. -
DayZ pissing me off, Server restart equals Respawn
Element47 replied to LeftLegDontWork's topic in New Player Discussion
if i had beans for every thread that starts with "i know this is alpha" and then bemoans a certain alpha-typical behaviour like bug persisting, feature mising or gameplay lacking.... please upvote this issue in the bug tracker to communicate a "me too" to the devs -
I apologize for this question in advance...

if you encounter a zombie and are unarmed, outrun him. some have a longer attention span than others, i had one following me from one village to another. others stop after 100 meters and start wondering wtf they are doing.. generally, you will find that slopes, even slight ones, tend to slow them down, and breaking line of sight often breaks their attention.. if you have a blunt weapon, circle them constantly and bash them like a pinata. fly like a butterfly, sting (smash?) like a bee. when approached by other people, be prepared to announce your intentions over direct comms. as evidenced by recent empiric research, the inability to communicate over VoiP ingame reduces your chances of survival drastically. nevertheless, prepare for the worst. if attacked, you can either fight or bail out. both options are viable, and there are many instances of players who KO-punched armed attackers, or successfully fled the scene despite whole mags being emptied at them. -
Suggestion - disable VOIP during gameplay
Element47 replied to conan the librarian's topic in Suggestions
the only practical way to do what you suggest, would be distributing DayZ together with a locked-down operating system as a bootdisk, so that no other software can be run on the machine. i will not even try to tell you how disconnected from reality, absurd, and outright mindboggling your suggestion is. i respect your opinion, that using any third-party tools may be an advantage of debatable fairness, may be immersion breaking, may create imbalance. i strongly disagree, but thats it. we can agree to disagree. but the approach you propose is so ridiculous, that no amount of facepalm memes will suffice to do it justice. -

Suggestion - disable VOIP during gameplay
Element47 replied to conan the librarian's topic in Suggestions
you suggest that a game gains sufficient access to my system to efficiently scan for all installed software, identifies which software has inbuilt VoiP functionality, and also gains sufficient priviledges to actively block such a function?- 90 replies

What do you want to see in the next patch ??
Element47 replied to africanhungergames's topic in General Discussion
1. controls and interaction: - proper targeting of interactive items like doors, gates, ladders, maybe distinction between pickup and open to avoid accidental door activation when intending to pickup stuff - proper reaction/interaction to/with scenery/landscape/world objects. this goes from collision detection to the ability to scale small ledges up (currently you need to run 200 meters around the railway ramp in Guba instead of climbing a 30cm ledge) or down (a 30cm drop may work fine but may break your legs) to the ability to cross small gaps (again the railway station in Guba, you need to enter into a ladder climbing animation to go over the 20cm gap from the ramp into the railcar) - getting rid of the ArmA UI for object interaction (scroll menu on the left) in favor of a more intuitive, usability/ux-oriented solution 2. zombies (and their interaction with world objects) - AI, pathing, object and collision detection. this is as we know anyway pretty high on the agenda -
You never fail to make me smile, brother.

Add "quests" (not quests...ummm opportunities)
Element47 replied to Randy_Pie's topic in Suggestions
more like "repair the diesel generator in the stranded ship. working power generator allows usage of welding tools, needed to return vehicle engine parts to working condition. vehicle engine parts can then be used to repair vehicles on the map. diesel generator remains repaired until server restart" obviously this is a suggestion for far further down the line, when the game is running fine and stable and additional content can be added. but its never too early for brainstorming ideas, and additionally, early consideration of possible features can make implementing in the future easier -
oh but morals exists in a sandbox pvp game. for example, it is established moral code in DayZ that combat logging is "wrong", while defending his own characters survival by the use of deadly force is "right" the morals and ethics of DayZ may be different from those of our daily "real life", but they are nevertheless present.

Give us the ability to delete our character from the main menu.
Element47 replied to Contriturate's topic in Suggestions
honestly, every alpha and beta i participated so far has either provided the player with something like a /stuck command or had means through ingame ticketing system to have the character reset. its an alpha, there are bugs, glitches, faulty geometry and collision detection. its not like resetting a char would affect some ladder ranking. its not like combat balancing is finished. the advantage of resetting a stuck character - or for that matter a geared up character if you want to start a fresh one for testing purposes - by far outweighs the (disputable) inbalance or abuse potential in pvp combat. -
Add "quests" (not quests...ummm opportunities)
Element47 replied to Randy_Pie's topic in Suggestions
"add quests.. but not like quests" you, sir, get the january award for good intentions but horrible execution..mentioning "quests" is like throwing a big lump of lithium into a bucket of water.. your idea of interactive environments and persisting player influence on the world we play in though is great in general, and engaging.. as to individual ideas, those surely can be discussed and improved on, but the general concept shouldnt be dismissed -
If it hasn't been done... This...is... ALPHA!!!
Element47 replied to gerbilschooler's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
you might want to consider using an external image hoster like imgur.com - embedding the link will show the image in all its glory, attachments on the forum are kinda meh -
generally, its a bit similar to the old humanity system. your avatar changes (persisting through death) based on your playstyle. i am undecided.. it definitely is an interesting mechanic, but it also takes away from the purity of the original game, and as all such systems it can be abused by "grinding" a certain behaviour with friends to achieve the desired state.. so my final vote would be: denied.

and if you encounter a known bug (like this one) then upvote it on the feedback tracker to communicate a "me too" to the devs.
-
what, no medic class? i've been playing the game wrong all the time
-
this was my first reaction too, but we have to acknowledge, that the steam release has brought a massive influx of players not familiar with the core philosophy behind DayZ. its on the community to patiently educate the new players.

first of all, relax. second, stop going on about the postcount. no one cares about postcount. this thread has 8 posts from you where 2 would have sufficed. sometimes less is more. finally: have you reported the changed default to the feedback tracker? have you upvoted the (known) character reset issue in the feedback tracker? one last advice: if you cant stand the heat, get the fuck out of the kitchen.
