came here expecting "(In-)Sanity" suggestion.. wasnt entirely disappointed. to be fair and honest, i think you wildly overestimate the value the average DayZ player gives to musical talent.
-
considering the redundancy of "KoS" or "(In-)sanity" topics, we definitely need more "Beards" threads for balance.
-
maybe it isnt. maybe your avatar just cant use it properly. :)
-
i guess you ruled out the possiblity that your steam friends just use different names in dayz?

code reuse is a paradigm not lightly abandoned. coding everything from scratch would be great, but it would also increase development time and cost significantly, so i cannot blame them really.. whoever mentioned the "great" way arma handles damage - sorry, but IMHO its actually horrible. in arma, damage simulation is done on ALL clients for ALL objects and players - and then compared together. dont ask me why, i cant wrap my head around it. this signature clusterfuck of arma has been ripped out in dayz sa, and replaced by heavily simplified server-side damage calculation - so thats for this argument. RV lacks many things of a state of the art engine.. dynamic data streaming in the background which would remove size limitation of maps, modern physics toolset including, dynamic object destruction, deformable cloth physics, fluid buoyancy etc., modern rendering engine with hardware tesselation and displacement mapping.. but this sound like a christmas wishlist - i love DayZ because it transports something that is not defined by graphics fidelity, and thats the human interactions. i think RV is horrible, but honestly, it doesnt bother me.

thread title is a winner. i lol'ed before clicking.

yeah but thats not an issue of DayZ. thats a pretty common behaviour. many percieve helping others as rewarding in itself. some crave the recognition they recieve from such actions. getting annoyed that a common human behaviour is also reflected in interactions in a multiplayer video game might be considered foolish. but hey, everybody is entitled to a rant now and then :)

Viewing , looking , body movement system enhancement

turning is not slow. its just that the mouse controls are FUBAR. i tested this yesterday a bit: - when i move my mouse ~10cm with 'normal' speed, i'll have turned maybe 180°-360° - when i move my mouse ~10cm fast, i'll have turned maybe 70°-90° - when i move my mouse ~10cm really slowly while holding "A" or "D" (corresponding to the turning direction) i have turned fucking 1080° once you get a hang of the completely fucked up, counterintuitive system, you can do 360° quickscope action like in quake by just tapping "A" or "D" while micromoving your mouse 2cm.. and shooting on the move? never gonna happen. -
its kind of offtopic but i have to disagree here. i tested the "lone survivor" playstyle in the mod for some time, and i found it actually a real challenge not to give in to the temptation and seek out players in the hotspots, but tend to the camp and survive for a prolonged period of time. logging in every day to refill canteens, hunt some goats or cows, check a deerstand or two and maybe 'harvest' pobeda dam and guba tents every few days.. you get lonely.. really, really lonely.. and at some point you want to grab your DMR and just walk into NWAF, because death and a new beginning seem so much easier, so much more comfortable than the loneliness of survival.

as for 1 - apart from our obvious verdict regarding animations - do you mean like a "check for vital signs" option? because not being able to tell from a distance whether someone is dead or unconcious sounds about right
-
i guess i'd need to be really smasht to find such stuff.. i try later tonight then..

meh, coast is so 2013... seriously though, i think the tension that you have when you are alone at the beach is something valuable which i do not want to take away from others.. now if they make it to my playground between polana, sobor and devils castle, i am more than happy to help them out.. if they made it so far, they might actually be interested in suviving for longer than 10 minutes i will of course come to aid anyone who actively calls out for it.. broken legs on the docks of kamyshovo? starving in kamenka? barely alive in elektro after escaping a deathsquad? i'll get to you and bring you all my rags and can openers..

you obviously didnt play the mod. ITS NO FUN BEING TURNED INTO A GOAT AND HAVING A SATCHEL CHARGE STRAPPED TO YOUR BACK!!!!!! NO FUN AT ALL!!!! *rocks back and forth, sitting in the corner, silently sobbing*

Read first before you complain about other players

i totally lost track of what this thread is about... TWD keeps coming up, so let me state why i Jackie-Chan'ed that reference. What happens in TWD is scripted for drama, to appear as a complete package, actions and reactions, to be entertaining What happens in DayZ is dynamic action of single individuals, each acting according to his own motives and preferences, not caring about how it looks to an observer Whatever the characters do or dont do in TWD has nothing to do with decisions in an apocalypse, but what half a dozen writers think is expected by a dorito-munching crowd in front of the screen also, killing on site means killing at that very spot. its kinda different from killing on sight. just sayin' -

as a scientist with a distinguished record of empiric research, i hereby pronounce my professional verdict: dat poll is shite. gun availability should be balanced against their popularity (to drive reward mechanics), lethality (to balance combat gameplay) and lore-based rarity (to add to immersion)

no matter how you decide to play your next toon - or the one after that. the story you cared to share with us shows to me again, that its not all mindless killing. you made a decision, and then you reflected upon it. you have experienced different emotions, and in the end, you are one experience richer. this is what i love about DayZ. thanks for sharing. to me, this story is proof of the opposite.

first can openers, and now orange raincoats! and people say there is no endgame... he obviously was envious of your fabulous looks and channeled his anger and frustration into aggression.
